170: Ghost is coming

Late at night, Di Yi Academy welcomed an old acquaintance. He was scruffy with a messy beard and hair, and a dark yellow wine gourd hung from his waist.

The Eighth Generation Star God, Lv Yinien, now known as Drunkard, was Hei’s master.

The moment he stepped through the academy gates, all the powerhouses within the academy immediately sensed him, raising their eyebrows slightly, wondering what this guy was doing here.

He hadn’t been back for many years.

Never mind, Di Yi Academy was his home anyway.

Today, Drunkard surprisingly didn’t have a strong scent of alcohol on him.

He walked straight towards Hei’s residence, a smile on his face.

Hei naturally knew how powerful her master was and wasn’t surprised.

However, Drunkard was a bit surprised that Hei’s emotions were clearly not as extreme as before; she was much gentler.

He suddenly noticed a bouquet of Roses in an exquisite vase on the wide long table, the flowers carrying a faint aura of light.

Lv Yinien understood, chuckled softly, and said, “I heard that young man from the Song family is quite good.”

Hei remained silent.

“Don’t worry, if he dares to bully you, just tell me, and I’ll go tear down the Song family.”

Hei remained silent.

Lv Yinien thought that everything needed a gradual process, but as long as it was moving in a good direction, it was a good thing.

Finally, he nodded and said with a faint smile, “Take care of yourself, and if anything happens, just tell Master.”

With that, Lv Yinien got up and left, walking towards the Dean’s residence.

After watching her master leave, Hei finally looked up, her eyebrows furrowed under her hood, because she felt that her teacher seemed a bit off today, and darkness’s perception of darkness was always very keen.

This made her feel inexplicably uneasy.

Finally, Hei shook her head, no longer thinking about these matters. There was no point in her thinking about the affairs of the older generation; it was better to think about what breakfast he would bring her tomorrow morning.

Thinking of this, her lips unconsciously curved into a slight smile.

On the other side, Lv Yinien found White Emperor Immortal.

“Old Bai.”

“Old Lü.”

After greeting each other, the two sat down and looked at each other. White Emperor Immortal said with a faint smile, “What brings you here today?”

Lv Yinien sighed and said, “I still can’t stop worrying about my disciple.”

“Her personality is too extreme.”

White Emperor Immortal nodded slightly, recalling the message the other party had sent him earlier.

Myth-Grade talent, when it falls upon ordinary people, is nothing short of a disaster, especially a talent with unique characteristics.

For talents like Lawful Utterance and Destiny, there are no signs at birth; their specific talent can only be measured after they turn seven.

But for talents like Shao Yan’s Dead Soul Fire, it’s different. It manifests fully at birth, to the point where even her mother, a person of considerable strength, couldn’t bear it, let alone an ordinary person with no cultivation.

Hei crawled out of her mother’s womb herself. The first scene she saw upon opening her eyes was a landscape of corpses, including her parents.

Darkness killed all life in the entire village, whether human or animal, turning everything into a pile of putrid blood under its devouring power.

Later, she was called a Ghost Infant because even she herself could not bear the darkness within her. From birth, she constantly hovered on the brink of death, her entire body devoured by darkness to the point of being unrecognizable, until she was found by Drunkard.

But the past cannot be changed, and the physical decay brought by the darkness within her cannot be stopped.

In Hei’s eyes, her talent was not a gift at all, but the most malicious curse. She would rather never have come to this world, because her birth brought countless darkness and death, and she was burdened with sin.

She couldn’t even take off her hood and look directly at the daylight because she was too ugly.

No matter how powerful, it couldn’t make her feel a shred of warmth.

Perhaps others’ lives represented beauty.

But her life was only cold and meaningless.

Death was nothing to fear; if Drunkard hadn’t stopped her, Hei might have ended her own life long ago.

Now Song Mingguang brought her a glimmer of warmth.

White Emperor Immortal thought this might not be a good thing, because if Song Mingguang ever left, Hei would be greeted by an even more complete darkness.

No one can guarantee that someone will always stay by their side.

Especially those who possess darkness seem unable to escape this fate.

Because Lv Yinien, right before him, was a prime example. He wasn’t always Drunkard; though burdened by darkness, he was very positive and upward-moving. In the eyes of the Geniuses of that generation, he shone like the sun, impossible to Beyond.

Later, he even built a happy and harmonious family, with a beautiful and gentle wife who smiled especially beautifully, truly envying others at the time.

Then they had a pair of Dragon and Phoenix twins; the older brother possessed Myth-Grade talent, a Genius youth destined for the Super God Class in the future.

Until a war turned everything to ashes.

His wife was gone, his children were gone—no, to be precise, like Li Qingqiu, even his parents and elders were gone. His entire family, except for him, a man who arrived late and witnessed this nightmare.

On that day, darkness went wild, and Lv Yinien broke into the alien race, slaughtering indiscriminately until he collapsed from exhaustion.

When he woke up, the spirited Lv Yinien was gone, leaving only a lonely ghost, spending his days with wine.

White Emperor Immortal also, for once, opened a jar of good wine, looking out at Di Yi Academy through the window with eyes full of reminiscence, chatting with Drunkard about the past.

Until he was slightly tipsy, a hoarse, demonic voice suddenly echoed in White Emperor Immortal’s mind.

“Having the Eye of Truth, yet seeing only confusion everywhere, must feel terrible, right?”

“Perhaps the power of the Planet Will can help you see more clearly? It must be able to unravel many, many things you couldn’t understand before, right?”

“Even make your Truth Awakening!”

“These years, you’ve watched generation after generation of young people, one after another, Awakening. Are you jealous?”

“Even Wang Qingtian and Zhuge Tianming, who are only eighteen…”

Upon hearing this, White Emperor Immortal suddenly turned to look at Lv Yinien. His black pupils disappeared, and his eye sockets emitted a pure white, sacred light, the power contained within seemed capable of deconstructing everything in the world!

And without any hesitation, he immediately called for help!

But all around him, an extreme darkness had already enveloped everything. Drunkard, who had just been smiling and chatting, had already stood up, expressionless, darkness blooming from his body, isolating everything.

No information could be sent out.

Moreover, Drunkard’s eyes emitted a faint, eerie, dark glow, captivating one’s soul.

White Emperor Immortal’s mind throbbed with pain; the demon’s power was invading his consciousness.

He tried to go for broke, directly causing indiscriminate destruction to create a huge commotion, but he felt that he couldn’t muster any strength in his entire body.

He muttered in disbelief, “Why…?”

“Lv Yinien… you… you’re insane?”

“You… you actually consort with evil spirits?”

Facing this utterly disappointed questioning, Lv Yinien’s face was unperturbed, calm like a windless surface of water.

White Emperor Immortal understood in an instant: he was colluding with the evil spirit to forcibly seize Xiao Fan’s power to revive his wife and child!

He growled with difficulty, “The… the dead cannot be resurrected…”

But it was useless. People of this level are all resolute, and it’s impossible for them to be swayed by a single sentence.

From the very first sentence he spoke to him, Lv Yinien had already been using the evil spirit’s power to slowly invade his consciousness, coupled with the oppression and concealment of darkness, he could no longer resist even with all his might.

He regretted it so much… he should have been more cautious!

This was Di Yi Academy, his home, and Lv Yinien was also considered his family. They were all people who came from the big family of Di Yi Academy, so it was almost impossible to deliberately guard against each other.

There were many protective facilities in the academy, including those in his Dean’s residence, but they needed to be manually activated, which he could no longer do. Those that didn’t require manual activation were ineffective against him. Who would have thought that this traitor was once a Star God!

It’s over…

No! If I become a pawn in the hands of the evil spirit, the consequences would be unimaginable!

I am the Dean!

The Dean of Di Yi Academy!

Have I reached my limit…? Hold on… keep holding on…

The evil spirit cannot leave the Hall of Valor’s prison, so this power must be what was left behind when it was captured before; it’s limited and cannot be replenished!

The longer he holds on, the more he can deplete it!

Pure white, sacred light struggled to bloom from his eyes.

Below the Hall of Valor, the evil spirit’s face grew increasingly grim.

After a full ten minutes,

White Emperor Immortal’s power suddenly vanished, and the deep black pupils in his eyes gradually unfocused, like a weary man, finally collapsing dazedly onto the table.
