31: Full set of 6-series equipment
Inside the Dojo of Limits, the members were laughing and joking.
"Qiao Yu, Luo Feng. Following Manager Zhuge's instructions, both of you are to be assigned to a Warlord Level squad. This is partly for experience in the Wilderness Area, and partly to ensure greater safety."
"I helped coordinate things, and we're preparing for you to join the 'Fire Hammer Squad.' What do you think?"
Uncle Wu looked at Qiao Yu and Luo Feng and asked.
"Fire Hammer Squad?"
Luo Feng nodded in agreement. Since he could join a Warlord Level squad for his first expedition, he naturally had no objections.
Uncle Wu then looked at Qiao Yu.
"I have no problem either. Thank you, Uncle Wu."
Qiao Yu nodded slightly. After all, since this was his first time entering the Wilderness Area, Qiao Yu didn't dare be arrogant and say he would go alone; that would be too risky.
Previously, in Monster Town, challenging a beast horde alone was only possible under specific limiting conditions.
Currently, it is unknown how far the fungal swarm's savage growth could develop in the Wilderness Area, so acting cautiously is best.
"Qiao Yu, Luo Feng."
Chen Gu, known as Cannon, put his hands on their shoulders and laughed heartily.
"I am the Vice Captain of the Fire Hammer Squad, and I'll be looking out for you two from now on. However, I must be upfront: the squad will provide you with opportunities to gain experience, but you cannot always rely on the help of other members. If you drag the squad down, I will have no choice but to kick you out!"
Chen Gu had originally been joking around, but since this concerned the squad's interests, he had to be strict with Qiao Yu and Luo Feng for the time being.
"Don't worry, Big Brother Chen, we understand. We won't make things difficult for you."
Qiao Yu and the other smiled and nodded in response.
"You haven't bought your equipment yet, have you?"
Chen Gu seemed to recall something and asked.
"Not yet. Good weapons are too expensive. You need one-star contribution points to get them half-price."
Luo Feng shook his head.
"That's easy. Tell me what you want to buy. I have enough contribution points. Just transfer the payment to my account later. Since we're all in the same squad, I won't charge you a handling fee."
Chen Gu immediately smiled upon hearing this. He had helped many new martial artists purchase equipment. Although he didn't earn much, he was happy to help newcomers increase their survival rate in the Wilderness Area.
"Weapons and combat uniforms can be purchased on your behalf, but remember that secret manuals must be bought by yourselves."
"The purchase of secret manuals is recorded. If you use a manual that hasn't been officially recorded, you will be judged by the Security Bureau."
Uncle Wu reminded them.
"We know, Uncle Wu!"
Qiao Yu and Luo Feng each took paper and a pen and wrote down the weapons they needed to purchase.
The equipment bought by novice martial artists is actually largely the same.
Weapons, combat uniforms, and so on are all standardized equipment.
As for equipment requiring personalization, they would need to pay extra to have a craftsman forge it.
Luo Feng had already calculated the prices and the equipment he needed in his mind, and quickly handed the paper to Chen Gu.
Chen Gu held the note and confirmed again.
"Luo Feng, you are purchasing a Full Set of 5-Series Equipment: 18 million for the combat uniform set, 6 million for the blood shadow battle blade, 3 million for the shield, 3 million for ten 6-Series Throwing Knives, totaling 30 million. Half price is 15 million. Plus some small miscellaneous tools. Is that correct?"
"That's right!"
Luo Feng nodded. This was the best equipment he could buy within his budget.
Qiao Yu also quickly finished writing down the equipment he needed and handed it to Chen Gu.
"Hmm?"
"Qiao Yu, are you sure you didn't write this down incorrectly?"
Chen Gu handed the note Qiao Yu gave him back, thinking he had made a mistake.
"I didn't write it wrong?"
Qiao Yu looked at the equipment listed on the note and nodded in confirmation.
"Qiao Yu, you are purchasing a Full Set of 6-Series Equipment: 80 million for the combat uniform set, 20 million for the blood shadow battle blade, 10 million for the shield, 3 million for ten 6-Series Throwing Knives, totaling 113 million. Half price is 56.5 million. Are you sure you have that much money?"
Chen Gu asked, raising an eyebrow.
Chen Gu had thought that Qiao Yu and Luo Feng both had 20 million in startup funds from their martial artist contracts, which he had heard from Captain Uncle Wu.
"Huh? A-Yu, didn't you only have 20 million in startup funds, just like me?"
Luo Feng asked in surprise after hearing Chen Gu's words.
"Luo Feng, why don't you check your account balance again?"
Qiao Yu smirked and looked at Luo Feng mischievously.
Luo Feng quickly took out his phone and indeed received a transfer notification for an amount as high as 100 million yuan.
"A-Yu, this?"
"Haha, Zhang Zehu transferred it."
Qiao Yu smiled faintly.
"He really gave it?"
Uncle Wu, Chen Gu, and Kong Quan all gathered around, staring incredulously at Luo Feng's phone and the string of zeroes on the transfer notification.
"Zhang Zehu is notoriously petty and stingy. It's not the first or second time he's settled conflicts privately, and even when an Intermediate Warlord beat him down, he never submitted. Qiao Yu, how did you do it?"
Chen Gu exclaimed in surprise.
"How else could I have done it? I insisted he give it, so he gave it."
"You insisted, and he gave it? It was that simple?"
"Ah, what's wrong with that?"
Qiao Yu replied expressionlessly.
"Amazing!"
Chen Gu gave a thumbs-up and said admiringly.
Plenty of people could beat Zhang Zehu down, and Chen Gu wouldn't have been this impressed even if Qiao Yu had done it.
But making Zhang Zehu, that iron rooster, cough up money—that truly impressed him.
'Which is more important, money or life? Couldn't Zhang Zehu tell the difference?'
Qiao Yu thought secretly. He had commanded the fungal swarm inside Zhang Zehu's body: the longer time passed, the worse Zhang Zehu's angina would hurt.
"Directly arrange a full set of 6-series equipment for my Brother Feng. If the people from the Thunderbolt Martial Arts School next door see this, they might think our Dojo of Limits can't afford it!"
Qiao Yu waved his hand, snatched the note Luo Feng had written, and shredded it.
Luo Feng naturally had no objection. He had originally wanted to buy 6-series equipment, but being short on funds, he had to settle for less.
"A-Yu, you really helped me out this time!"
Luo Feng immediately transferred the funds to Chen Gu and looked at Qiao Yu gratefully.
"Hey, we're buddies!"
Qiao Yu waved his hand.
After chatting for a while, the group went their separate ways... In Hongning Base City, at the Dojo of Limits Headquarters.
"Brother Hong, you won't even help your little brother with this? That's unacceptable! Please!"
The bald monk, Thunder God, put his palms together, his face full of distress.
"You, why are you being so serious about a young man who just became a martial artist?"
"Aren't you the one who hates the whole apprenticeship thing the most? Why are you suddenly thinking about taking on a disciple?"
Hong, dressed in black, shook his head, feeling helpless about Thunder God's nature.
"If I didn't see him as a talent worth shaping, I wouldn't bother with him!"
"If you don't agree today, I'll go swear brotherhood with him tomorrow. If we can't be master and disciple, being brothers is fine, right?"
"Then everyone will be able to say that the world's strongest person and the worlds second strongest person took on a Warrior level little brother. Just thinking about the contrast is hilarious!"
Thunder God rubbed his bald head, feigning calmness, but the corners of his mouth couldn't stop curling into a smile.
Upon hearing this, Hong felt the veins throbbing on his forehead momentarily, but having long been accustomed to Thunder God's impulsive nature, he turned his back and spoke.
"Does the worlds second strongest person like you need someone else's permission to act? I recall you not being so rule-abiding."
The bald monk immediately dropped his distressed look and put on a playful expression.
"Brother Hong, I was waiting for you to say that! The first Seconded Student of the Dojo of Limits is here!"
Thunder God laughed heartily, his eyes squinted into slits, and he immediately got up and rushed away.
"Such a clown..."
Seeing Thunder God leave in a hurry, Hong shook his head helplessly.
