99: Biological expert Liang Yuan
The Investigation Team and Qiao Yu waited quietly for the military to send an expert.
The five of them looked at each other in silence, and the atmosphere felt somewhat awkward for a moment.
"May I ask how to address you, Senior?"
Feng Zhisheng took the initiative to break the awkward silence and asked Qiao Yu.
"Qiao Yu."
Qiao Yu responded indifferently.
"Understood, Senior Qiao Yu."
The conversation fell silent again. Qiao Yu's behavior at this moment was that of a total conversation killer, which made things uncomfortable for Feng Zhisheng.
Finally, after Feng Zhisheng racked his brain to come up with new topics and endured over an hour of awkward conversation with Qiao Yu, the military warplane finally arrived.
Looking at that large, military-green warplane, Feng Zhisheng felt a sudden, inexplicable surge of emotion.
"It's finally here..."
Feng Zhisheng wiped away non-existent tears from the corner of his eye and said, visibly moved.
"Hiss!"
Accompanied by the sound of the warplane's cabin door opening, six military Martial Artists in black combat uniforms, clutching various weapons, emerged, surrounding an old man with gray hair as they slowly stepped out.
Feng Zhisheng and the others immediately gave the white-haired old man a military salute.
"Professor Liang!"
The white-haired old man nodded and smiled in response.
"You must be the expert the Investigation Team mentioned who can tame monsters."
The white-haired old man walked up to Qiao Yu and extended his hand.
"Hello, I am Liang Yuan, a researcher specializing in biological studies at the Jiangnan First Military Academy."
Qiao Yu was slightly taken aback. A professor from the Jiangnan First Military Academy? He remembered that this was the school Luo Feng had originally wanted to attend.
Being a professor in the field of biology, he was indeed the expert the military claimed him to be. Furthermore, the fact that he introduced himself merely as a researcher suggested a pragmatic, humble personality.
Qiao Yu extended his right hand to shake hands with Professor Liang.
"Qiao Yu. Martial Artist of the Dojo of Limits and Thunderbolt Martial Arts School, High-level Wargod, and Intermediate War God Level Psycher Master."
Qiao Yu's answer caused Professor Liang to raise an eyebrow. He had assumed that any Martial Artist capable of taming a Black-crowned Golden Eagle would be at least at the Intermediate War God Level, not merely a High-level Wargod.
However, upon hearing that Qiao Yu was also an Intermediate War God Level Psycher Master, it all made sense. Being a Psycher Master explained how he could handle a Black-crowned Golden Eagle.
The others present had experienced the same thought process as Professor Liang.
Upon learning that Qiao Yu was a Psycher Master—and one at the Intermediate War God Level, no less—everyone's gaze toward him became significantly more respectful.
Psycher Masters were rare and difficult to Cultivate. For his Psychic Power to reach the Intermediate War God Level, regardless of his natural talent, he must have put in an immense amount of effort.
"I've heard that War God Qiao possesses the ability to tame monsters. Might this old man be allowed to see it for himself?"
Professor Liang got straight to the point, bypassing pleasantries to ask Qiao Yu directly.
"Of course, no problem."
Qiao Yu nodded, placed his fingers in his mouth, and blew a sharp whistle.
Of course, this was just a ruse; in reality, he only needed to issue the command to the Black-crowned Golden Eagle mentally.
"Whoosh!"
A massive black shadow suddenly flashed across the previously clear sky.
The arrival of the shadow stirred up a gale, forcing the six military Martial Artists surrounding Professor Liang to huddle together to protect him from being blown over; Feng Zhisheng and the others did the same.
As the shadow grew larger, it finally descended beside Qiao Yu.
Professor Liang looked as if he had seen something incredible. Trembling with excitement, he ignored the six military Martial Artists surrounding him and hurried over to the Black-crowned Golden Eagle.
"A Black-crowned Golden Eagle! And it's alive!"
Professor Liang reached out with trembling hands, about to touch the Black-crowned Golden Eagle.
However, the Black-crowned Golden Eagle spread its massive wings, attempting to scare Professor Liang away.
Sure enough, Professor Liang stumbled back a few steps, and the six military Martial Artists immediately rushed forward, raising their weapons to shield him.
"Retract!"
Seeing the tense standoff, Qiao Yu gave the Black-crowned Golden Eagle's head a firm pat, and it immediately folded its wings.
"Good, good, good! Exceptionally fierce, yet obedient and loyal to its master!"
Professor Liang showed no signs of displeasure; instead, he seemed even more excited, offering endless praise.
"Professor, it's dangerous!"
The six military Martial Artists shielded Professor Liang, issuing a warning.
"It's fine; it won't eat anyone."
Qiao Yu gently patted the Black-crowned Golden Eagle's head again, and the beast opened its massive beak, gesturing towards the group.
This gesture made the others recoil further, but Professor Liang remained steadfast in his trust of Qiao Yu, for he could see in the monster's eyes that it harbored no malice.
As an expert in biological research, he had studied countless monsters, and almost every single one had been filled with hostility toward humanity.
Once Professor Liang learned that Qiao Yu was a Psycher Master, he no longer doubted his ability to tame monsters.
Currently, there are nine Psycher Masters on Earth who have successfully tamed monsters, but their methods generally rely on mental communication—a subtle, friendly approach to bonding with the beasts.
It's less about taming and more about forming a partnership.
Aside from occasionally obeying their Psycher Master, these tamed monsters usually remain extremely hostile toward other humans.
The reason Professor Liang was so interested in Qiao Yu's tamed monster was that it was an incredibly ferocious eagle-type monster—specifically, the Black-crowned Golden Eagle, which ranked in the top three.
Most importantly, although Qiao Yu's tamed monster had initially displayed its ferocity, he could perceive from its eyes that it held no malice.
This suggested that there was a high probability that the monster could be commanded by humans other than its Psycher Master.
"War God Qiao, would it be possible for me to touch it?"
Despite his advanced age, Professor Liang spoke with the wonder of a child.
"Of course, no problem. Go ahead, Professor Liang."
Qiao Yu nodded, not refusing.
Professor Liang then extended his trembling hands, and surrounded by the six military Martial Artists, he slowly stepped forward to stroke the Black-crowned Golden Eagle's head.
Professor Liang stroked the Black-crowned Golden Eagle with an incredibly gentle touch, nodding as he did so, his heart filled with joy.
"By the way, I heard from my superiors that the monsters in County 0203 seem to have all been dealt with?"
"I haven't seen any other monsters since I arrived, aside from this Black-crowned Golden Eagle. Might that be thanks to you, War God Qiao?"
After satisfying his own curiosity, Professor Liang asked Qiao Yu.
He had only received orders from his superiors to come and discuss matters with Qiao Yu; he knew nothing of the other information reported by Feng Zhisheng and his team. He currently assumed that Qiao Yu had led the Black-crowned Golden Eagle to wipe out all the other monsters.
