77: Fungal Squadron, Level 2 Nest Unlocked

Over the next few days, with the assistance of the Golden Vulture Squad, Qiao Yu's efficiency in killing monsters increased significantly.

The Golden Vultures were subsequently parasitized by the fungal swarm, becoming a new Fungal Squad, achieving immortality on another level.

During this period, Qiao Yu also found different monsters to join the Ranks of the Fungal Squad, analyzing more than a dozen types of monster genes.

The number of Fungal Squads had reached nine; with just one more squad, he could establish a Fungal Squadron.

"The volume of the fungal swarm has reached 15,000 cubic meters. Which wave is this in the past few days?"

Over these past few days, Qiao Yu had been continuously expanding outwards, having already established five Level One Fungus Nests.

Yet, he had still not received any notification about upgrading the fungal nest.

"Moo!"

A massive bull's roar interrupted Qiao Yu's train of thought.

A large herd of about eight or nine hundred Rampant Bulls, led by an Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull, engaged in a fierce battle with Qiao Yu's Fungal Squads once again.

Although there were only 9 Fungal Squads, totaling just over 90 Fungus Monsters, they had absolutely no advantage in terms of numbers.

However, the Fungal Squads were impossible to kill; they could simply wear the other monsters down until they died.

However, this Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull was highly intelligent, making the Fungal Squads' encirclement somewhat difficult.

Even though they could resurrect and reorganize infinitely, there was no way to cause substantial damage to this Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull and its herd.

The intelligence of an Advanced Beast General Rank monster was already comparable to that of a human.

Every time the Fungal Squads showed an advantage, the Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull would lead its herd to flee and fight a guerrilla war.

However, even though the Fungal Squads were constantly being defeated, the Rampant Bull realized that something was wrong, something that went beyond its worldview.

It originally had several Elementary Beast General Level generals in the suburbs, but they had gone missing one after another in the past few days. If there were no accidents, it must have been caused by this suddenly rising herd of beasts.

It was not just its own herd; several other monster herds had also been wiped out.

And it seemed like no matter how much they were killed, they were endless.

It didn't even know where these monsters came from; despite their Rank not being high, they were exceptionally united.

Although the monsters in the Fungal Squads looked different on the outside, the Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull could tell through their scent that the fungal group's smell was consistent.

Since other Rampant Bull herds under its command were affected, as their leader, it naturally could not sit idly by.

Therefore, the furious Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull led its herd into a cruel and bloody struggle against these newly emerged monsters.

It killed one strange monster after another, but it could never eradicate them.

Repeated battles left it exhausted, but those strange monsters had an extremely crazy and bizarre fighting style; they had no fear and did not fear death.

Most importantly, the more these monsters were killed, the more there were, while the number of its own herd was dwindling.

Furthermore, it discovered that among these monsters there were actually other bovine monsters, and it could even vaguely see the shadows of its own generals on them.

Every time it fought those bovine monsters, it seemed to vaguely hear a seductive tone in their voices.

They kept urging it, "Come quickly, join us; we are ultimately one."

This feeling made it feel exceptionally terrified. As the number of its herd decreased, it decided not to fight these strange monsters anymore.

Its original sphere of influence was only in the suburbs of County 0203, and given its herd's strength, it was difficult to live comfortably in the main city.

Since County 0203 was not large, the strongest monsters were only at the Advanced Beast General Rank.

If this old bull were in the main city, it would have to fight other herds for territory; it was better to be a carefree mountain king in the suburbs.

This was why it chose to take root in the suburbs, but who could have expected to run into this group of strange creatures.

If it really couldn't hold on, it would migrate to the main city after this battle ended. Although the pressure to survive would be greater, it was better than the entire herd losing their lives here.

Even if these strange monsters attacked the main city, when the sky falls, there would be taller monsters to hold it up.

"Swish! Swish! Swish!"

Several flying knives flew rapidly toward this Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull.

The Rampant Bull, which was already in a state of extreme mental tension and constantly guarding against unexpected raids, noticed the flying knives immediately and reacted quickly.

It roared angrily, its footsteps not stopping, its speed exploding instantly. With its massive and heavy body, it actually vaguely exceeded the speed of sound.

Its rapid dodging and crazy attacks knocked all the flying knives away, failing to cause an effective attack.

Qiao Yu commanded the Golden Vulture Flock to harass this Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull.

"I was previously distracted dealing with the leaders of other monster herds, letting you run away so many times."

"This time you won't be able to run away; today I will definitely kill you."

After speaking, the ten-member Golden Vulture Fungal Squad ignored the attacks of other Beast Soldier Level Rampant Bulls and focused on harassing this Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull.

Meanwhile, Qiao Yu used his Psychic Power from the side to control the flying knives, looking for gaps to attack and kill the Rampant Bull.

Finally, after half an hour of continuous encirclement and killing, the Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull's stamina gradually failed.

Qiao Yu seized the opportunity, controlling ten flying knives, and fiercely attacked the Rampant Bull's vulnerable spots simultaneously, such as its eyeballs, nostrils, ears, and inside its mouth.

"Puchi! Puchi! Puchi..."

In the end, the entire head of the Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull was pierced by the flying knives. Every time it pierced its skull, the flying knife would immediately circle back and attack again.

Until its final death, the last thought of this Rampant Bull was, "How can there be a Psycher Master among the monsters?"

Monsters mostly do not rely on their eyes to distinguish between humans and monsters; they rely more on scent.

And the smell of the fungus on Qiao Yu, to the Rampant Bull, made him a monster through and through.

Qiao Yu covered the corpse of this Advanced Beast General Rank Rampant Bull with the fungal swarm to parasitize it.

The 10 Fungal Squad members were finally full at this moment.

"Done, let's pack up!"

Qiao Yu clapped his hands and recalled the ten flying knives around him. After many battles, these ten flying knives were no longer as sharp as before.

The blades were not exactly riddled with holes, but they had worn down quite a bit, even though Qiao Yu could repair the flying knives through the fungus.

However, the equipment replicated by the fungus did not fundamentally upgrade and still belonged to Grade Six equipment.

To further upgrade weapons and equipment, it was still necessary to let the fungus consume higher-grade equipment.

"It seems I need to find some time to return to the base room to perform another round of equipment upgrades."

Qiao Yu thought to himself.

With the fall of the herd leader, the remaining Beast Soldier Level Rampant Bulls were like headless flies, only able to make some instinctive counterattacks.

Before long, they were all wiped out and devoured by the 9 Fungal Squads.

Qiao Yu returned to the dilapidated residential area where the Level One Fungus Nest was located. As soon as he stepped inside, a System notification appeared in his mind.

【Ding! Congratulations to the host for collecting 10 Fungal Squads. They can be upgraded to a Fungal Squadron. Level 2 Fungal Nest unlocked.】
