46: Chapter 43 Short-haired man with white hair

After coming out of the quarantine zone, Theresa stopped in front of the data terminal on the third floor of the medical center.

She pulled up the highest authority, found Kaiwen's test report, and after confirming that the data had not yet been synchronized to Schicksal Headquarters' cloud database, Theresa's fingers tapped rapidly on the screen.

A few minutes later, all sensitive records were completely cleared.

Theresa turned off the terminal, clapped her hands, and then turned to walk in the direction of the general observation ward.

The door of Room 206 was ajar.

When she pushed the door open and walked in, she saw an expected scene.

Kaiwen was leaning against the hospital bed, and although her complexion was somewhat pale, her spirits were passable.

As for Kiana, she had moved a chair and sat at the head of the bed, a pair of azure eyes staring straight at the door.

"Aunt."

Kiana spoke, her voice not sounding resistant, but definitely not affectionate either.

Theresa's footsteps paused for a moment.

Aunt... That bastard Siegfried actually mentioned her to this child.

"Kiana." Theresa nodded, her gaze lingering on Kiana's face for an instant.

This face was carved from the exact same mold as Cecilia, gentle, stubborn... Um, it seemed a bit irritable.

But Theresa didn't look much longer; she walked to the end of the bed and casually flipped through the registration form hanging there.

"Is your body recovering alright?"

"... Pretty well." Kaiwen leaned against the pillow, somewhat unsure what this Headmaster had come here to do.

"Um, then..." Theresa had just put away the form when Kiana bluntly interrupted her.

"Her check-up is done, right?"

Kiana stood up, blocking between Kaiwen and Theresa with an exceptionally resolute attitude: "I want to take her away."

Theresa raised her head to look at her without speaking.

"Don't think I'll believe you just because you're my Aunt." Kiana spoke quickly, but every word was very clear, "People from Schicksal, my dad told me, in Schicksal, especially that white-haired shorty, you must absolutely not trust them!"

The ward fell silent for a few seconds.

Kaiwen lay on the bed, her gaze sweeping back and forth between the two, silently pulling the quilt up to minimize her sense of presence.

Theresa looked at the stubborn and unyielding little girl in front of her, who was just like Siegfried, and secretly sighed in her heart.

Afterward, she gently nodded.

"Alright."

Kiana obviously hadn't expected the other party to agree so readily, and she was stunned for a moment.

"You can leave at any time, I won't stop you." Theresa's tone was very calm, "Moreover, I can guarantee that the entire Far East Branch won't make things difficult for you either."

Kiana frowned tightly and stared at her, trying to gauge if she was telling the truth.

"It's just... Changkong City is gone. After you go out, you won't have money, identification, or even a place to settle down."

She glanced at Kaiwen, who was shivering under the covers.

"Besides, her body can't withstand much tossing."

Kiana froze in place. Although her mouth was still stubborn, a trace of hesitation clearly flashed in her eyes.

Theresa didn't push too hard either, just standing quietly beside the bed.

After a long while, as if suddenly remembering something, she casually added:

"Right, Schicksal's intelligence network is the largest intelligence network in this world. Perhaps... you could borrow it to find someone who is missing?"

Kiana's shoulders stiffened slightly.

The corners of Theresa's mouth twitched slightly upward, and she turned and walked slowly toward the door.

"I don't need you to trust me right now, Kiana. If you want to leave, the door is always open."

"But before leaving, I can guarantee that this place is absolutely safe."

Having said that, Theresa pulled the door shut and walked out.

The ward fell silent once again.

Kiana lowered her head, pondering something.

For a long time, she muttered in a low voice: "... Can I take her away at any time...?"

"Of course." Theresa's voice came clearly from outside the door, "I keep my word."

She hasn't left yet?

Listening to the voice coming from behind the door, Kaiwen couldn't help but picture a lone wolf leaning against the wall with a strong sense of sneakiness... Theresa.

Kiana was silent for a long time, and finally lowered her head to face Kaiwen:

"Then... let's stay here for now. If there's really danger, I'll take you away again."

"Mhm." Kaiwen didn't expose her.

As her words fell, a sound of tiptoeing and hurried footsteps finally came from the corridor, gradually disappearing into the distance.

... Was she still eavesdropping outside the door!

Did she really have to hear Kiana relent with her own ears before she was willing to leave?

Kaiwen stared at the ceiling, couldn't help but sigh softly in her heart.

This Theresa really has a way about her.

Just a few words had Kiana completely wrapped around her finger.

No wonder she could run an entire academy.

Thinking of this, Kaiwen turned her head to look at Kiana sitting in the chair.

"Your Aunt is quite impressive."

Kiana pouted: "... Indeed impressive."

...

A few days later, Kaiwen finally received her discharge notice.

Although the Stigma power in her body was far from replenished, at least daily activities and basic combat were no longer a problem.

While handling procedures at the front desk, while Kiana was queuing for the handover, Kaiwen took the opportunity to detour to the nearby nurse's station.

"Excuse me... What is the current condition of Asakura Miyuki, who was sent over with me earlier?"

The nurse flipped through the medical record, shook her head with some difficulty: "Classmate Asakura just finished surgery and was transferred to the recovery area on the second floor. Because of the high residual Honkai Energy in her body, she is still in a coma, and external visits are strictly prohibited by regulations."

Speaking of which, the communicator at the nurse's station suddenly rang, seemingly for an emergency.

"What do you mean her skin is growing corpse spots so she needs to be sent to dermatology?"

"Oh dear, sorry, I have to go over there!" The nurse stood up, hurriedly grabbed a medicine box, and instructed Kaiwen, "Don't run around!"

Watching the nurse's hurriedly departing back, Kaiwen raised an eyebrow.

The corridor of the recovery area on the second floor was very quiet, the air permeated with a heavy smell of alcohol and disinfectant, occasionally accompanied by the regular ticking of instruments.

It felt like due to a shortage of manpower, there were temporarily no guards in this area.

Kaiwen lightly slipped into the door, casually pulling down most of the anti-peeping blinds.

The ward was not large, and the lighting was relatively dim.

Miyuki lay on the hospital bed, her body plugged with all sorts of complex infusion tubes and instruments.

Although the original purple lines on the surface of her skin had disappeared, large patches of dead skin and tiny crystals formed by Honkai Energy erosion were left under her skin.

Kaiwen stood by the bed and looked at her for a few seconds, then reached into the inner pocket of her clothes and took out a cold metal syringe.

Schariac Sacred Blood.

After trading it from Gray Serpent, Kaiwen had always kept it hidden close to her body, not even Kiana knew.

Although she didn't know the specific injection guidelines, referencing the usage of the God-Killing Spear in The Final Lesson, pushing it directly into the vein should work, right?

Kaiwen gripped the syringe and pierced it straight into the vein on the side of Miyuki's neck.

Creak.

"Hiss, why is the needle bent?"

But Kaiwen didn't think much of it; she straightened the needle, then readjusted the angle, applied a little force toward the blood vessel, and finally pushed the needle in.

The pale golden liquid flowed through the syringe into Miyuki's body.

On the hospital bed, Miyuki's brows twitched violently, a look of pain appearing on her face, but it quickly smoothed out again.

Kaiwen pulled out the syringe, wiped away the traces, and stuffed it back into her inner pocket.

She looked down at Miyuki's sleeping face and said softly:

"Don't die."

Having said that, she didn't stay any longer, slipping out of the ward.
