47: Chapter 44 The Racing God of Mount Akina!
When Kaiwen and Kiana walked out of the medical center's main doors, the first thing they saw was not sunlight, but a white supercar.
Its body was low and sleek, parked in the open space in front of the building's main entrance, looking particularly striking amidst the surrounding plain military facilities.
A red-haired woman was leaning against the car door with her long legs crossed, her head lowered as she played on her phone.
Was this hospital managed so loosely?
Able to drive a supercar in?
Seeming to sense something, the person in front of the car raised her head, a pair of amber eyes sweeping over from a few meters away.
Murata Himeko.
They had met a few times before on the hyperion, but Kaiwen was somewhat drained of strength at that time and truly had no energy to observe this Major.
Looking at her up close now, this woman had such a strong aura.
Himeko put away her phone, walked over, and swept her gaze over them.
"Are you feeling better?"
"Mm." Kaiwen nodded.
Himeko took a folded document out of her pocket and tossed it to them casually: "According to the Headmaster's orders, starting today, I will temporarily act as the temporary guardian for both of you."
Kiana took the document, frowned and glanced at it twice, then looked up at Himeko: "...Guardian?"
"Don't overthink it, it just means you'll be living and eating with me from now on."
Himeko pulled open the car door, tilted her head slightly, "Get in the car."
Kiana wanted to say something, but Kaiwen had already bypassed her, pulled open the back door, and got inside.
"Let's go, Kiana."
Kiana glanced at her and ultimately crawled into the car.
Boom——!!
Along with a roar from the engine, the white supercar launched from a standing start, rushing straight out past the medical center's access control gate!
...
Kaiwen had previously always thought that getting carsick to the point of wanting to vomit was just a figure of speech.
At least before getting into Himeko's car, she had always thought so.
Himeko's driving style, using "bold" to describe it was simply insulting the word; this woman was basically driving a fighter jet!
What decent person would drive at 130 miles per hour in the school's urban area?!
That pointer was still approaching 150 all the way! Converted, the speed was practically heading towards 240!
"Drive slower, will you!!! We're going to crash!!!"
Kiana in the back seat grabbed the handle above the car door for dear life, her complexion already having turned from initial vigilance into pure terror.
Kaiwen was no better off; the immense centrifugal force pressed her tightly against the backrest, and she tightly clutched the seatbelt with both hands, not even daring to open her eyes.
"Scared already? This is nothing yet!" Himeko glanced at the two young girls from the rearview mirror, a wild smile hanging on the corners of her mouth as she slammed her right foot on the accelerator again, "Watch closely, this is the ultimate driving skill of an adult!"
With that said, Himeko slammed her right foot on the accelerator, accompanied by the roar emitted by the engine.
Kaiwen in the back seat watched helplessly as the speedometer slowly moved from 130 to 150.
150 miles per hour.
In a school.
On a two-lane tree-lined path.
Kaiwen wanted to curse, but the discomfort in her stomach no longer allowed her to open her mouth.
Kiana beside her had already given up on grabbing the car door handle, changing to hugging her head with both hands and curling up in the back seat, repeatedly muttering a single sentence:
"I cannot die... I absolutely cannot die in such a strange place..."
Fortunately, this nightmare did not last long.
Accompanied by an extremely precise drift, the supercar steadily stopped in front of a white apartment building.
Himeko killed the engine and looked at the rearview mirror.
"We're here."
As soon as the "click" sound of the car doors unlocking rang out, Kiana pushed open the car door and stepped out.
"Are you crazy?! Driving this fast in the school!" Kiana turned around and glared at Himeko, completely blowing her top.
Himeko stuffed the car keys into her pocket and stepped out with her long legs.
She looked down condescendingly at the furious Kiana, saying in a teasing tone:
"Can't handle this already? Then you'd better mentally prepare yourself in advance; you'll still have to experience this kind of speed quite a bit in the future. After all, in Saint Freya, there's no such thing as a speed limit for this Major's car~"
Kaiwen also got out of the car from the other side, except she now had to support herself against the roof of the car with her hand to calm the churning in her stomach.
Looking at Himeko's taken-for-granted expression, she finally saw through this Major's driving ethics.
"Alright, stop standing on the side of the road." Himeko picked up her bag and tilted her head toward the apartment door ahead, "Keep up, I'll take you to get acquainted with your new home."
Kiana stared fixedly at Himeko's back, gritting her teeth as she said, "This woman's brain is definitely diseased."
"...Agreed." Kaiwen nodded with deep empathy.
...
The apartment building's hallway was cleaned very cleanly, and footsteps could clearly echo on the tile floor.
Himeko walked in front, her red hair swaying gently behind her, while the two younger ones followed behind.
At the end of the third-floor corridor, she pushed open the innermost door.
"Come in. Starting today, this is your dormitory."
Kaiwen followed her inside.
The first thing that came into view was a living room that wasn't very large but had excellent lighting, and beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows, the distant azure sea could also be seen.
A sofa, coffee table, and open-plan kitchen were all fully equipped, everywhere exuding a warm atmosphere.
On the living room sofa, Bronya was sitting there with an opened laptop spread across her knees.
Hearing the door open, she turned her head, her gray eyes sweeping over the people who had entered.
"Welcome home, Sister Kiana and Sister Kaiwen."
Kiana walked into the living room and began sizing up this new home.
"How are the rooms assigned?"
"There are a total of four bedrooms and two bathrooms." Bronya's gaze returned to the screen, "Bronya has already chosen the one close to the internet cable port."
As she was speaking, a door deep in the corridor was gently opened.
Raiden Mei walked out from it, holding several folded towels and two sets of toiletries in her hands.
Seeing Kiana and Kaiwen at the door, Mei's movements stiffened imperceptibly for a moment.
Then Mei averted her gaze, lowered her head, and gently placed the items on the living room coffee table.
"...Toiletries and a change of clothes, I collected a set for you in advance."
After saying these words, she didn't even wait for Kaiwen to reply before lowering her head and retreating back into the room deep in the corridor.
Kiana looked at Mei's back, her gaze turning cold, but she didn't say anything, merely turning her head to continue looking around the rooms.
Kaiwen stood in the center of the living room, watching Mei return behind the door of that bedroom at the end of the corridor, and then looked at Bronya who was typing on the keyboard on the sofa.
"Can you tell me what happened when we were in Changkong City?"
"Bronya does not know."
...
"Um... Major Himeko." Kaiwen suddenly remembered something, turning her head to look at Himeko, who was leaning against the door frame, "What about Asakura Miyuki? Is she not living with us?"
Himeko raised an eyebrow, explaining, "The Honkai Energy remaining in that child Miyuki's body is quite severe, and she just finished surgery. She needs to be observed on the second floor of the medical center for a period of time. Once she can be discharged, logistics will make arrangements again."
"Is that so..." Kaiwen nodded, considering the matter clear in her heart.
Himeko crossed her arms, watching this group of brats with different thoughts divide up their territories, a faint, elusive smile still lingering at the corners of her mouth.
"Alright, if you're missing anything, go to logistics to get it yourself." She turned and walked toward the master bedroom at the other end of the corridor, "I live right next door. Look for me anytime if anything comes up, as long as you don't tear down the house for me."
As Himeko's room door closed, the living room returned to quiet once more, leaving only the clacking sound of Bronya's fingertips striking the keyboard and the commotion of Kiana pushing open a door.
Kaiwen sat down on the sofa, her whole body leaning relaxed against the sofa backrest, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Finally able to have a good rest.
