142: Chapter 142: The Train That Never Stops (Part 11)

An Ke shrugged.

Whatever.

Anyway, it was none of their business.

"Hiss, that hurts."

As soon as An Ke moved her arm, a sudden stinging pain made her focus on it.

Turning her head, she saw several scratches on her left arm, with blood seeping out.

"You're injured!"

An Ke shook her head. "It's just a minor injury. I must have been accidentally scratched by those white threads just now."

"Let me help you bandage it."

"I just happened to see a first-aid kit up ahead."

Bai Lin remembered seeing a first-aid kit on the counter at the front of the carriage when they first arrived.

An Ke did not refuse.

Bai Lin set to work helping her bandage the wound.

Once it was settled, An Ke stopped worrying about it, but then something suddenly occurred to her, and her expression changed.

"This is bad!"

An Ke stood up and headed toward the rear carriages.

"What's wrong?"

"We didn't get any tickets!"

"What are we supposed to do at the next stop?"

When An Ke said this, Bai Lin suddenly remembered the previous stop. No Ticket Collector had come to check tickets, which was strange.

"Why wasn't there a ticket check at the last stop?"

"Could it be random every time?"

As soon as Bai Lin spoke, he saw An Ke's gaze turn complicated as she stared in Qian Ye's direction.

There was more to this!

Bai Lin understood instantly.

An Ke pointed her finger at Qian Ye and then made a throat-slitting gesture. Bai Lin naturally understood what she meant.

Now, the way he looked at Qian Ye was no longer simple.

Before, he only thought she was a somewhat powerful player.

Now he was being told that this person was a ruthless character who even dared to lay hands on NPCs.

More importantly, this person was still alive and well!

She hadn't triggered any death rules.

In an instant, Bai Lin knew that the person before him was absolutely not to be provoked. It was best to be on good terms; if not, he must never make an enemy of her.

As the two were talking, the loudspeaker sounded again. "Honored passengers, we have arrived at Youth Palace."

"Please be prepared to board. The train will continue its journey in ten minutes."

The train slowly came to a halt, and the darkness dissipated once more. Looking out the window, one could see gloomy weather carrying an oppressive atmosphere.

The train doors slowly opened.

An Ke and Bai Lin instinctively tensed up.

They wondered what kind of passengers would board this time.

At the same time the train stopped, Qian Ye opened her eyes, just as the passengers were boarding.

Seven passengers boarded this time.

Before they even drew near, a burnt smell wafted over.

The seven people in front of them looked to be nearly two meters tall. Their entire bodies were wrapped up like mummies, and their exposed skin was a charred black color.

As soon as they appeared, the entire carriage became crowded. The carriage wasn't tall enough for them to stand upright, so they had to hunch over.

Each of them walked like a mobile charred corpse crudely wrapped in white cloth strips.

Their faces were also wrapped, revealing only one eye. That eye had double pupils, which kept spinning incessantly in all directions.

The overall appearance was bizarre and dangerous.

"Huo huo..."

There were bandages over their mouths as well; when they opened them, they could only make strange noises.

One of the bandaged men shuffled step by step to Bai Lin's side, staring fixedly at the seat beneath him.

That was his seat!

An Ke watched them, her gaze lingering on their bodies as if she were looking for something.

"How can this be? Why isn't it there?"

The more An Ke looked, the more anxious she became. Her calm expression slowly vanished as she pushed aside the Bandage People in front of her and rushed toward the back.

She was searching recklessly for something.

"How can this be?"

"Why isn't there any?"

"What will I do at the next stop if there aren't any?"

She didn't want her memories taken away; who knew what kind of plot might be waiting later.

Finally, An Ke fixed her gaze on a Bandage People in the last row.

In its hand, it was currently clutching a train ticket tightly. From An Ke's angle, she could clearly see the word 'Preface' on it.

"Found it!" In the next instant, An Ke's entire aura changed, becoming light and cheerful.

"Now there's hope."

Bai Lin didn't understand what was happening to her. He followed her gaze and saw the man's clenched hands, his eyes cast down.

The next second, Bai Lin's arm was pulled by her to the side. He heard her whisper, "Tickets will be checked soon, and right now, we have nothing..."

An Ke opened her hands; both of their hands were empty.

"If we could have dealt with those monsters just now, we would have had a chance to get tickets."

"I'm sure you realize by now that besides breaking through an illusion to get a ticket, the only other way is to steal them from the passengers who board."

Bai Lin understood perfectly what she meant. An Ke's words were intended to get the two of them to work together to deal with these monsters.

"So what do we do now?"

Bai Lin looked at the monsters around them. There were only two of them, while the other side had seven.

He glanced at the eyes-closed Qian Ye. Seeing her composed manner, he guessed she must have a ticket in her hand.

An Ke whispered a few words into Bai Lin's ear.

A moment later, his gaze locked onto the Bandage People behind Qian Ye.

An Ke had said that it definitely had a ticket on its person.

He slowly moved toward it.

To the side, Qian Ye was resting with her eyes closed.

Beside her, Cang Bei's head was slumped, looking listless.

With his head lowered, his eyes were currently full of malice. Anyone with keen perception who got close to him would discover that he was excited.

His whole body was trembling incessantly.

He was in a state of total emotional agitation.

——

Qian Ye had originally wanted to have a good rest, but all sorts of noises kept reaching her ears.

At this moment,

Cang Bei was staring at the back with great interest.

It was Bai Lin and An Ke.

The two of them were currently surrounding that Bandage People from the front and back. A loop of rope was around its neck, constantly tightening.

Qian Ye turned her head and saw Cang Bei's mouth moving, though she didn't know what he was saying.

Sensing the aura around him, Qian Ye raised an eyebrow and stared at him with a half-smile. "You... are excited?"

Hearing this, Cang Bei's expression froze. Something flashed quickly through his eyes, and he turned back to look at Qian Ye, his eyes filled with confusion.

"Ah, what's wrong?"

"You, you're awake!"

"Look, what are they doing? Why are they treating it like that..."

Qian Ye turned her head slightly. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the scene: that Bandage People was already near death.

Strangely, the other bandaged men were indifferent, as if they couldn't see the scene, allowing An Ke and Bai Lin to strangle that Bandage People to death.

"Got it!"

"Great, I got it, I got it!"

An Ke looked at the ticket in its hand, her eyes shining.

Qian Ye didn't look at them; her gaze was fixed on Cang Bei.

Cang Bei looked at Qian Ye with an innocent face. "W-what is it?"

"Is there something on my face?"

Qian Ye didn't speak, just stared at him blankly.

"Ah! How can this be?"

"No, no, no, my—my ticket!"

Hearing the commotion, Qian Ye looked back and saw that Bandage People slowly dissipating.

That included the ticket in its hand.

Qian Ye suddenly turned back, just in time to catch the smile that Cang Bei hadn't had time to pull back from the corner of his mouth.

She suddenly covered her mouth and chuckled.

"Xiao Ye?"

Qian Ye waved her hand and suddenly leaned in close to him, staring into his eyes.

"Mm, I just suddenly felt that your eyes... are very special."
