28: Chapter 28: The Mystery of the Old House (Part Two)

Su Ye's car was quiet; after all, she had already resolved the matter.

"Hehe, sit tight and hold on, it's time to go~" Su Ye looked at the pitch-black night, extending infinitely without end, and smiled with a curl of her lips.

Hu Tao wanted to shout, "Do you even have a driver's license? You look like an underage girl no matter how I look at you."

The first car had already departed, and it performed an extreme drift at the very first turn.

Su Ye curled her lips. "Little trick."

She floored the gas pedal, performed the same extreme drift, and successfully cleared the turn.

"Ah!"

Hu Tao inside the car screamed repeatedly in fright.

Glancing at the two expressionless girls, Hu Tao shut his mouth.

Su Ye's car swayed from side to side, but the speed was high, keeping closely behind the first car.

Apart from the occasional fright, nothing dangerous happened along the way.

This made Hu Tao heave a sigh of relief.

The cars kept driving forward, and whether the first car realized it couldn't shake off the one behind or for some other reason, its speed gradually slowed down.

Soon, an Ancient Mansion slowly revealed itself.

The two cars stopped one after the other at the entrance of the Ancient Mansion.

A red lantern hung on each side above the main gate, swaying incessantly.

Su Ye looked back from the car and didn't see the shadow of the third car, the corners of her lips curling slightly.

When the butler saw Su Ye appear in the driver's seat, his face twisted for a split second.

Su Ye met his gaze, full of provocation.

"Wow, Dear, you didn't tell me your family home was this big." It was that NPC named Wu Yan again, her eyes full of amazement.

"Sigh~ It's just an ordinary house."

It just looks a bit eerie.

Wu Yan complained inwardly but didn't say it out loud. She pulled her clothes tighter, always feeling a bit cold.

"Goodness, Desolate Wind, this is your home? Wu Yan, you are so lucky~"

"I'm so envious of you."

Listening to the woman's sour words, Su Ye held her hong ling umbrella and wandered beside them like a ghost.

"Ah..."

"Su Ye, are you sick? You walk without making a sound."

"Why are you holding an umbrella in the middle of the night? And such a red one, too. Who are you trying to scare?"

As soon as Wu Yan turned her head and met the red umbrella, combined with the surrounding environment, she nearly had her soul scared out of her body.

Su Ye pulled at the corners of her lips. "I'm just adding to the atmosphere, helping things along."

"Are you sick?" Hearing this, Wu Yan was so angry she nearly jumped up.

Su Ye walked toward the gate, holding the red umbrella, which, paired with the incessantly swaying red lanterns, was truly quite frightening.

"Su Ye, the host, Young Master Desolate Wind, hasn't even left yet. What's your rush?"

"Even if you're impatient, you should know some manners."

Su Ye didn't want to argue with a brainless NPC.

She realized that in this dungeon, they had character information that only these NPCs knew clearly; they themselves didn't know it, nor did they understand what roles they were playing.

Walking to the entrance, the door suddenly opened from the inside, leaving a gap just wide enough for one person to pass through. An elderly man leaning on a cane, his body hunched, his eyes tightly closed, stood there.

"Is, is that the young master who has returned?"

Su Ye saw something being dragged past inside and grinned.

"What was that noise just now? Was it a cat?"

"Ah... you... are?" The voice was old and hoarse.

As if someone who hadn't spoken in a long time had suddenly opened their mouth.

"An honored guest invited by your young master."

"Oh, honored... guest... greetings, honored guest~" The man said in a hoarse voice, yet he couldn't hide his excitement.

"Hee hee hee, I think so too."

Su Ye didn't press him further and stared at the door, where strange red patterns were drawn.

"It's Uncle Bai, I'm back."

"I've brought my girlfriend and my friends back."

"That's great, the young master hasn't brought friends back in a long time."

Su Ye listened to their pleasantries from the side.

Interesting, this person didn't mention a single word about the wedding.

"Come on in."

The NPC called Uncle Bai opened the door, revealing the full face of the Ancient Mansion.

Su Ye looked at the atmosphere, which was so harmonious, but she didn't like it; her desire to stir up trouble was unstoppable.

"Oh my, why is there a car missing?"

"There are still a few people who haven't arrived."

"Shouldn't we wait for them?"

"That's right, why haven't Shao Yang and the others arrived? Didn't we all set off together?"

"Desolate Wind, are there any other paths up this mountain? Could they have taken the wrong road?" The one speaking was Hu Tao's NPC girlfriend.

"Ah, I'm not too sure."

"Ask the butler."

"This is Butler Bai; you can call him Uncle Bai."

It would have been fine if they hadn't mentioned the driver, but as soon as they did, Butler Bai's face twisted in a flash, and he stared fixedly at Su Ye.

He had seen it very clearly just now; it was this young girl who got out of the driver's seat.

His driver was missing.

And they were completely unharmed! Which meant something had happened to the driver.

"Uncle Bai, can you contact them?" Hu Tao acted very politely.

"The night is deep and the dew is heavy; there might be mist on the mountain, so perhaps they are driving a bit slower."

"Why don't we go inside and wait for them."

"Uncle Bai, that's not right. We are all friends; of course, we should wait until all our friends are here." Su Ye tapped her toes on the ground, twirling the hong ling umbrella in her hand, her eyes full of sincerity.

"You are right." Butler Bai wore a fake smile.

After standing for a while, Wu Yan got annoyed. "What's going on? Didn't we all set off together?"

"Why haven't they arrived yet!"

Su Ye, with a meaningful smile, looked at Butler Bai. "Maybe there was some accident."

Finally, the sound of a vehicle arriving was heard.

"Yo, I wonder if they're still alive?" Su Ye was excited, and also seemed somewhat gleeful at their misfortune.

Hu Tao's heart skipped a beat.

The rear door opened first; before the car had even come to a complete stop, they got out impatiently.

Four people got out; some had eyes full of terror, while others looked slightly disheveled.

The driver's door opened next.

Dressed in a black suit, he got out and walked toward Butler Bai, even performing an elegant gentleman's bow.

Su Ye stared closely at the suit on his body, habitually twirling the red singer in her hand.

"Hey, brother, remember to clean up properly next time you eat~"

Su Ye fanned her hand in front of her nose. "Tsk tsk tsk, so sloppy."

He was covered in a heavy smell of blood.

The man's expression stiffened upon hearing this.

The few people who got out afterward were also shocked.

What did she mean?

She knew!

Looking at them, who were not disheveled at all and had no traces behind them, they instantly felt unbalanced.

"It was all because you chose the second car first that caused us... Li Lu, she..."

"Caused you what?"

"Li Lu... she died~ is that right?" Su Ye grinned, her expression ambiguous.

"You..." The players' faces were ugly.

"Young master, since everyone is here, let's go inside."

"Hmm."

Once inside, there were corridors on both sides, with only faint candlelight lit in the corners. The plants growing beneath the corridors were half a person high.

"Dear, does your family not have lights?"

"This flickering candlelight is quite scary."

"Tsk, Wu Yan, if you're timid and scared, don't speak up; it's not good to scare others."

The NPC holding Hu Tao covered her mouth and mocked.

"Meow~" Suddenly, there was a shrill cat meow.

"Ah..." Wu Yan hugged Desolate Wind tightly.

"Baby, it's okay, maybe the kitty bumped into something."

Wu Yan nodded frantically.

"How much longer do we have to walk?"

"Ah!"

"The wall, on the wall, it, it seems like something just flashed by."

A player said in a trembling voice.

"Don't scare yourself; this candlelight is shining on us, it's probably our shadows."

"Is, is that so?"

As they walked, they didn't notice how a person with closed eyes was leading the way for them.

"The guest rooms are a bit of a distance away, up in the small attic in the back. It's quite late today, so please excuse our poor hospitality."

"It's fine, it's fine, thank you for picking us up so late." Wu Yan was quite polite to them, with not a hint of arrogance.

Su Ye walked at the very end, observing their group. Excluding the butler, the driver, and that Uncle Bai, there were ten of them in total.

Oh, and one died.

Don't know if the one who died was an NPC or a player.

Now there are four NPCs in here.

While thinking, Su Ye's ankle suddenly felt cold; something had grabbed it.

The next second, she lifted her foot fiercely and stomped down hard, and that thing was shaken off.

"Hmph." Su Ye snorted coldly and continued walking forward.
