42: Wizard Contract Technique

After enjoying lunch, Lister, having no official business to attend to, first went to Daisna's room.

After greeting her, he plucked the comfortable-looking Bai Ze from Daisna's arms.

He claimed it was because he felt Bai Ze was too lazy and needed to cultivate.

Naturally, Bai Ze was unwilling, but under Lister's 'tyranny', it had no power to resist, even though it already possessed the strength of a Bronze Rank 2 Knight.

Therefore, it could only beg Daisna to 'save it', but Daisna agreed with Lister's thinking, and she was a bit tired from patrolling the territory in the morning and needed to rest.

Finally, with a look of utter despair, it was ruthlessly carried away by the scruff of its neck by Lister.

At this moment, Livia and the other sprite were waiting outside the door; they left together after seeing him come out... the warm sun shone brightly as a cold wind brushed past.

Arriving at the training ground, a chorus of greetings rang out. After a brief response, Lister carried Bai Ze toward the clearing behind the castle.

This area was considered Lister's exclusive training ground for cultivation; without his permission, no one was allowed to come and disturb him.

After placing Bai Ze on the ground, Lister did not immediately begin Knight cultivation, but instead pulled a Wizard Scroll from his robes.

That's right, he was going to practice Wizardry today, specifically the most conventional one and the one he believed would be most effective for him right now: the 'Beast Contract Borrowing Technique'.

Bai Ze was his contract target, while Livia and the others were there to handle emergencies, after all, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Sitting cross-legged under the curious gazes of the three little ones, he opened the scroll to the 'Beast Contract Borrowing Technique'.

According to the scroll's explanation, the basic condition for practicing Wizardry was the ability to freely control the release of Spiritual Power.

He had been able to do this for a long time, but the next condition left him somewhat baffled.

After releasing Spiritual Power, one needed to perceive the singularities in the air that connected to the sub-space.

What, one needs to know math to practice Wizardry?

He had heard of singularities during his school days in his previous life; it was a mathematical concept and also related to the Big Bang Theory.

But he had always been a math failure; aside from knowing a few superficial things, he knew nothing else.

"Whatever, I'll just treat a dead horse like a live one and try to sense it first."

After a helpless mutter to himself, he began to release his Spiritual Power to sense his surroundings.

Soon, various colored particles of energy slowly emerged in the air, with deep red fire element energy being the most prevalent.

Since his 'Flame Cross Slash' skill had reached the Proficient level, it was much easier for him to sense fire element energy.

But these were not his targets. In the next moment, he increased the release of his Spiritual Power, and slowly, the sounds of the surrounding wind and insects faded from his perception.

At this moment, it was as if he were in a silent world; aside from the scenery and elemental energy before him, he could no longer perceive anything else—a state that only occurs with extreme concentration of Spiritual Power.

As the minutes passed, he suddenly felt as if the air had distorted, and a strange point of light appeared faintly.

With a look of joy, he began to drive his Spiritual Power toward that singularity, but no matter how he tried, his Spiritual Power could not precisely capture that point of light.

It was as if the point of light did not exist in the same world as him. Repeated failures caused his expression to turn anxious.

Although the weather was cold, beads of crystal-clear sweat couldn't help but break out on his forehead.

The three little ones nearby also noticed his condition. Bai Ze and Lianna didn't know what was happening and could only cry out in concern.

Livia, however, seemed to sense something. In the next second, a purple energy, different in essence from before, condensed at the center of her brow and sank into Lister's head.

Boom!

With a jolt to his consciousness, Lister felt his Spiritual Power become more solid and agile.

Immediately after, that point of light also became clearer in his perception, as if the two previously separate worlds were gradually overlapping.

"Success!" Lister suddenly shouted in surprise, then urgently said to Bai Ze: "Bai Ze, quick, contract with me."

"Awoo!"

Although Bai Ze didn't know what Lister was doing, it acted out of absolute trust in him.

It immediately opened its spiritual shackles, and then a seductive purple light condensed.

Just as it was about to fly toward Lister's brow, it was sucked toward that point of light by a distorted and powerful force.

"Awoo!" Bai Ze showed a human-like look of worry, thinking something had gone wrong.

But Lister's voice rang out abruptly: "Don't worry, Bai Ze, this is a sub-contract, different from a normal one."

"Awoo!" After a small cry, Bai Ze waited quietly.

Then, under the gaze of four pairs of eyes, Lister's Spiritual Power and Bai Ze's purple light merged into that point of light together.

A moment later, within the perception of the four, the small patch of space around the singularity suddenly trembled slightly.

In the next instant, two streaks of light flew out from the singularity, shooting into the brows of Lister and Bai Ze respectively.

Lister shouted in surprise again: "Haha, the contract technique was successful."

At this moment, he could clearly feel his Spiritual Power passing through an indescribable space and linking with Bai Ze's Spiritual Power.

At the same time, a mysterious energy that Lister had never sensed before was continuously transmitted into his body through that space.

Within a few breaths, the aura all over his body began to stir. The 'reservoir' of his Battle Qi, which originally only had the capacity of Bronze Rank 2, was now frantically swelling toward the capacity of Rank 3.

With a daunting wolf howl, the aura around Lister shook.

Bronze Tier 3 achieved!

In just one day, his realm had advanced another rank. This speed would even make the highly talented Spartacus Bulk pale in comparison.

Of course, being able to improve so quickly was also due to the initial contract; unless Bai Ze also had a breakthrough in the future, it wouldn't be this fast again.

But this still made Lister overjoyed. Looking down at Bai Ze, who was tilting its head, confused by the situation, he scooped it up in his arms.

"Bai Ze, I broke through again today thanks to you. Just tell me whatever you want to eat, and I'll give you an extra meal." The corners of Lister's mouth couldn't stop rising, and then he gently stroked Livia's small head with his finger, saying: "And Livia too, without your energy at the critical moment, I wouldn't have been able to contract with Bai Ze. I'll have Thomas prepare some delicious desserts for you."

Seeing Lianna looking envious nearby, he said with a smile: "Lianna too, you can eat as many desserts as you want."

Hearing this, the two sprites began to fly around happily; their favorite thing to eat was dessert.

"Awoo~!"

At this time, Bai Ze gave an excited cry. Lister, understanding its meaning, suddenly felt the smile on his face freeze.

"You little brat, you actually want to eat my Barbarian Bull!"
