95: Good luck is coming

Outskirts of the Hengduan Mountains.

Lister, reining in his horse, gazed out to see a vast sea of forests shrouded in mist, with many trees appearing exceptionally tall and thick.

Compared to the dead, eerie mist that permeated the Mist Forest,

the mist surrounding the Hengduan Mountains before him was pleasantly deep and elegant, possessing a hazy sense of mystery and beauty.

At this moment, Bai Ze, from the animal skin bag on the right side of Lister's horse, let out a childish cry, indicating its fondness for the current environment.

"Yiya yiya!"

"Moo~"

The other three little ones also happily echoed, agreeing with Bai Ze's sentiment.

Seeing this, Lister shook his head and smiled helplessly.

Originally, he had only planned to bring Lianna this time, as she was a Green Sprite and possessed the ability to sense valuable resources like special soil and spiritual plants.

However, to the other three little ones, exploring precious resources was no different from going out to play.

Thus, after much clamor, Lister had no choice but to let them come along.

After comforting the little ones, he signaled Red and the other, and together they rode their horses slowly into the mountains.

The Hengduan Mountains themselves were not very steep, so horses could travel steadily within them.

As for why a not-so-steep mountain range could block the invasion of other races,

that was because the separation primarily relied not on the mountains, but on the huge rift on the other side of the mountains.

This rift was called the Transverse Rift; its depths were unfathomable, and sunlight could only reach less than a hundred meters, resembling a terrifying abyss connected to hell.

Moreover, what was most incredible was that when birds, wild beasts, and magical beasts attempted to fly across this abyss, they would be frantically pulled downwards by some inexplicable terrifying force.

Even some powerful magical beasts could not escape this fate; if they tried to force their way across, the ultimate result was falling into the abyss.

This strange phenomenon reminded Lister of the very similar Bermuda Triangle mystery from his previous life.

As for what lay beneath the abyss, although he was extremely curious, even powerful magical beasts couldn't know, so he, a weak Bronze Knight, was even less qualified to peek.

Following a somewhat wide path-like road, Lister and his group slowly began their search.

By now, Red and Spartacus had automatically adapted to Lister's unusual actions, unanimously believing that he had once again received guidance from the holy light god.

And each guidance was accompanied by the appearance of good things, a result that had been confirmed many times, so their anticipation and enthusiasm for this task were very high.

As the search deepened, although they had not yet found the Magic Cloud Eagle, which was Lister's main objective for this trip, they did acquire some other decent resources.

Red found a piece of extremely dense fine iron the size of a washbasin, and Lianna discovered a Blood Spirit Fruit plant bearing ten fruits that had the effect of restoring vital energy.

Spartacus, on the other hand, had incredibly good luck, digging up a fist-sized Cursed Metal from a strange mountain.

This metal was similar to lead, containing a rich and potent magical toxicity that could be inlaid into weapons.

When a weapon struck an enemy's body, the magic poison would spread through the blood from the wound, reaching the entire body and causing tremendous damage to the enemy's internal organs, vital energy, and even their cultivated special energy.

If one's strength was not powerful enough, or if there were no effective restraints, one would die from the bursting factors within the magic poison in not too long.

Lister, for a moment, even suspected that Spartacus might be the one truly blessed by the holy light god due to his good fortune.

But this thought quickly dissipated from his mind, because he discovered an amethyst the size of an egg in a deep pit.

This was a gem with powerful magical properties, far more precious than Cursed Metal.

It could be used to create high-level magical items, most notably the gem at the tip of a mage's staff.

Of course, besides staves, it could also be inlaid into a knight's weapons and armor.

After being nourished by magical properties, it could increase the item's magical affinity, durability, and other aspects, making it very versatile.

Red and the other congratulated Lister on his good find, while also expressing their intense envy.

Just as everyone was preparing to continue their search, the previously bright sky quickly darkened, and gray storm clouds covered the entire sky.

Rumble~

Accompanied by terrifying lightning and thunder, the sky erupted with a 'whoosh,' and a torrential downpour began.

In a short time, the mountain soil became sticky and wet, the air grew even more biting cold, and each hoofstep sank into the ground, making movement more difficult.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh~

The strong wind drove the large raindrops, hitting the armor of Lister and the two others heavily, the faint clinking sounds as beautiful as a symphony.

Facing such an environment, ordinary people would certainly feel very uncomfortable and quickly seek shelter from the rain.

But the three Full Knights felt no such discomfort, their expressions remaining as calm as still water.

This was because each of their helmets came with a visor, which, when lowered, would protect them from the rain.

As for the four little ones, they were already happily running and flying around, completely unaffected.

After all, this was the first time they had seen rain since arriving in this world, and such a torrential downpour at that.

Furthermore, being creatures more attuned to nature, they naturally loved the feeling of having the dust of the world washed away.

Thus, Lister and the two others, accompanied by the four little ones, continued their search in the heavy rain.

Half an hour later, under his keen gaze, he finally discovered the tree nest of the five Magic Cloud Eagle fledglings.

Looking at it, he felt extremely fortunate, because if they had arrived any later, the Magic Cloud Eagle fledglings would have become food for the Black-patterned Python that was currently coiling its way up the tree.

Just as he was about to personally deal with it, Bai Ze in the horse's bag let out an 'awoo'.

Understanding immediately, he looked surprised and said, "You want to kill that Black-patterned Python?"

As soon as he spoke, he immediately scrutinized Bai Ze, a strange expression on his face.

Did the sun rise from the west today?

Otherwise, how could a fellow who was usually too lazy to train suddenly volunteer to do something, and in such terrible weather too?

Seeing his expression, Bai Ze showed a human-like look of displeasure and let out another 'awoo'.

Lister smiled helplessly and soothed, "Alright, I wasn't doubting you, just a bit incredulous, that's all. If you want to help, I'd be happy to relax."

"Be quick about it, the rain is getting heavier, we need to get back early."

Seeing him agree, Bai Ze instantly became excited, turning and charging towards the Black-patterned Python, which was still climbing the tree not far away and was many times larger than itself.
