55: A path to death!
Central room on the fifth floor of the castle.
In the main seat of the room, a robust middle-aged man with a ruddy complexion was carefully perusing a report made of shuttle grass paper.
He was the owner of this castle and the Tulip Territory, Earl Aier Sidi Fland.
Compared to papyrus in his previous life, the shuttle grass paper in this world was not as fragile, but it could still be easily damaged if accidentally torn.
Therefore, every time he turned a page, Aier Sidi's movements were extremely careful and gentle.
Suddenly, a knock of just the right strength came from outside the door, accompanied by a slightly muffled voice.
“Earl, I have an important matter to report.”
Hearing the familiar voice, Aier Sidi said without lifting his head, “Come in, Brood.”
As his voice fell, the door slowly opened, and a middle-aged man in silver armor walked in.
He was Aier Sidi’s Chief Guard Captain and the commander of the Night Sword Knight Order, one of the three major knight orders in the Tulip Territory, Brood Coverdale.
Brood respectfully saluted, “Earl, the guard just handed me a letter, saying it was sent by Baron Lister Howard of the Ironthorn Territory, regarding Miss Daisna.”
“A letter about Daisna from the Baron of Ironthorn Territory?” Aier Sidi was startled, a little surprised in his heart.
He had heard of Ironthorn Territory; it was a very barren territory, not far from the Tulip Territory.
But Daisna was going to visit his father-in-law, Blake, and should not pass through Ironthorn Territory midway.
Could something have happened?
But with Morrison, a Silver-tier sixth-rank, protecting her, what could possibly trouble them?
However, out of his love for Daisna, he still eagerly opened the letter presented by Brood.
As he read, his face turned terribly grim, and his hands unconsciously tightened, instantly tearing the expensive parchment letter Lister had used to save face.
Fortunately, he pulled back his strength in time, preventing the letter from being completely destroyed.
“How dare it attack my precious daughter, seriously injure her, and even kill Morrison and all the protecting knights.”
Aier Sidi’s anger at this moment was like a volcano about to erupt.
He sneered and said each word distinctly, “Black Flame Demon Bear, you-are-very-good!”
He hadn’t expected the Black Flame Demon Bear, which he had let off before, to dare seek revenge.
Although that wasn't his original intention, he had indeed spared the Black Flame Demon Bear’s life, but who knew it would be so ungrateful.
It seems it has found its path to death!
Brood, who was standing respectfully nearby, quickly analyzed the content of the letter upon hearing Aier Sidi’s words, and was both shocked and furious.
Morrison was a junior he had high hopes for, yet he was killed by the Black Flame Demon Bear just like that.
What was even more infuriating was that it had seriously injured Daisna, the little princess who was doted upon throughout the entire Tulip Territory.
Without any hesitation, Brood immediately requested, “Earl, please allow your subordinate to depart immediately with the Knight Order and church priests to the Ironthorn Territory to treat Miss Daisna.”
“As for that damned Black Flame Demon Bear, your subordinate will definitely bring its corpse back to you.”
Aier Sidi had no doubt about the sincerity in Brood’s words.
Suppressing the anger in his heart and regaining his calm expression, he said, “Brood, I know you are worried about Daisna and anxious, but don’t rush.”
“According to the letter, although Daisna was indeed seriously injured, after being rescued by Baron Lister Howard, her injuries have already been healed.”
“So I estimate that Daisna will wake up soon after the messenger Soldier departs, and she should be fine now.”
“However, given Daisna’s personality, I am somewhat worried that she might develop some psychological issues.”
At this point, he couldn't help but sigh, revealing the worry of a parent. He knew his precious daughter too well.
She had been very kind since childhood. Although outgoing, her heart was very sensitive and fragile. Now that the knights protecting her had died, she must be very sad and blame herself.
But despite his thoughts, he had no solution at the moment.
After calming his worried emotions, he looked at Brood and instructed, “Recently, there have been some restless fellows in the territory. Go and deal with them. As for bringing Daisna back…”
“You immediately notify Ellis and have him assemble a team and depart for Ironthorn Territory as quickly as possible.”
“After meeting Baron Lister, tell him to be sure to thank him well. As for the gift… give him the Black Flame Demon Bear’s body.”
“Oh, and arrange for that messenger Soldier to rest well, then send someone to escort him back.”
“Yes, Earl,” Brood respectfully replied.
He was not at all surprised or found it inappropriate that Aier Sidi would give the precious Black Flame Demon Bear's body to Lister.
He then quickly left the room and headed towards the training camp.
After the door closed, a long sigh filled with worry echoed in the quiet room… Ironthorn Territory, first-floor hall of the Lord’s Castle.
After arranging accommodation for Bertha Olivia, he returned to the castle to enjoy dinner with Daisna.
Due to the extremely rich harvest today, the corners of his mouth had not dropped.
Although Daisna was very curious, she didn’t ask much. After all, some things were not for her to ask or know, and she had that much sense of propriety.
After dinner, Lister went to the back of the castle’s training grounds.
After surveying the open space, he quickly walked towards the only giant stone in the clearing, then sat cross-legged on it. The next moment, a purple soul fruit wrapped in mist appeared in his hand.
He had long been impatient about the effects of the purple soul fruit. Without any hesitation, he began to eat the fruit in his hand in large mouthfuls.
Unlike eating ordinary fruits, he could clearly perceive that after the pulp was swallowed, it quickly transformed into a warm energy, flowing and cleansing his entire body.
The comfortable feeling made him groan, no less intense than when he absorbed the Spirit Essence Flower.
In a few bites, the fist-sized fruit was completely eaten, and the feeling of cleansing both body and spirit became deeper and deeper.
He didn't know how long it had been, but this feeling gradually dissipated in Lister’s body, though he knew it wasn't the energy dissipating, but rather completely integrating into his body.
He stood up and clenched his fist, carefully feeling his body after the cleansing, but he didn't feel any obvious changes.
“Forget it, let’s cultivate and see the effect.”
The next second, he circulated the Breathing Technique, and the long spear in his hand continuously performed basic movements such as blocking, grasping, and thrusting.
Although the movements were simple, they were the best way to hone the foundation. With balanced control of power and a rhythmic regularity.
He felt his body's comprehension of Spearmanship skills becoming deeper and deeper, and his previously introductory realm was rapidly improving.
This feeling made him forget everything. In the dark environment, only a figure dancing bathed in moonlight remained.
