19: Chapter 19 The Li Family's Last Madness
Unlike the bustling city, Jiang Xun's rental apartment was perfectly quiet.
He did not go to celebrate his victory, nor did he ponder the finals against the previous champion tomorrow.
He simply sat cross-legged, his Divine Kingdom slowly rotating within his Sea of Consciousness.
The "Legion Command" civilization Law he had plundered today was combining with the "Asymmetric Warfare" theory taught by Lame Zhang, evolving into a brand-new, more flexible, and versatile military formation system.
His Divine Kingdom's believers were completing a transformative metamorphosis.
However, this tranquility was destined not to last.
Jiang City Deity Administration Bureau, Director's Office.
Director Li Jianguo watched the latest battle report regarding Jiang Xun on the screen, along with his rapidly climbing approval rating; his face was so gloomy it could drip water.
He knew he had underestimated this boy with the E-Rank Talent.
If this child continued to grow like this, not to mention Li Ang, even the entire Li Family's Foundation in Jiang City could be shaken.
"I cannot wait any longer."
He turned off the screen, his eyes bloodshot, the last shred of his rationality replaced by madness.
"Since the rules cannot kill you, then I will personally wipe you from this world!"
He pressed a red emergency button on his desk.
"Enforcement Team, assemble."
BOOM!!!
With a loud bang, the poor-quality wooden door of the rental apartment was violently blasted into splinters from the outside.
Amidst the flying wood chips, a dozen enforcement officers wearing black uniforms and holding magic-suppressing long spears entered one by one like silent machines.
Their movements were uniform, instantly occupying all advantageous positions in the room. A dozen gun barrels, flickering with deep blue electric arcs, locked onto Jiang Xun, who sat cross-legged on the bed, from all directions.
The cramped space was instantly filled with a cold, murderous aura.
Director Li Jianguo, wearing a crisp uniform, was the last to slowly walk in from outside the door.
He held an arrest warrant flickering with red light, a cruel and hypocritical smile of someone holding absolute power plastered on his face.
"Jiang Xun."
He looked down at Jiang Xun from a high position and pronounced, enunciating every word.
"It has been verified by our bureau that you are suspected of using the strictly prohibited 'Evil God Sacrifice' method within your Divine Kingdom to exchange for a rapid increase in strength."
"Your heart is punishable, and your crime warrants death."
"I now, in the name of the Director of the Jiang City Deity Administration Bureau, formally pronounce: Because you have colluded with an Evil God and endangered the safety of the Human Race, you shall be executed on the spot, and your Divine Fire will be confiscated and purified by our bureau!"
Framing. Slander.
They even skipped the trial process, jumping straight to the final death sentence.
Within the enforcement team, a seemingly young member's eyes flashed with an imperceptible trace of doubt when he heard the four words "Evil God Sacrifice."
He had studied Jiang Xun's Talent and combat methods; it was a form of plundering and Fusion that he had never heard of, full of wisdom and technique, which was fundamentally different from the chaotic and filthy power of an Evil God.
But he dared not speak.
Because the arrest warrant in Director Li Jianguo's hand flickered with the red light of the highest authority, representing unquestionable power.
Facing a dozen magic-suppressing long spears capable of instantly annihilating the Divine Fire of a black iron rank god, Jiang Xun looked like a lamb waiting to be slaughtered.
However, there was not a trace of fear on his face.
He didn't even change his posture; he simply opened his eyes slowly and gazed calmly at Director Li Jianguo, as if looking at a clown.
"Are you done acting?"
Jiang Xun spoke indifferently.
"For Director Li to personally lead the team and pin such a huge label on me, you must be in quite a hurry."
"In a hurry to destroy me completely before I win the championship?"
Director Li Jianguo's face became ferocious.
"You're at death's door, yet you still dare to be stubborn!"
"Do it! Execute him on the spot! If he resists, destroy his Divine Soul!"
"Yes!"
The enforcement team replied in unison. The energy light on the magic-suppressing long spears flared instantly, and a harsh buzzing sound of electric current filled the air.
Just at this critical moment.
An abrupt mobile phone ringtone echoed throughout the room.
Everyone was stunned for a moment.
The ringtone came from the old mobile phone Jiang Xun had placed on his bedside table.
Under the aim of a dozen magic-suppressing long spears, Jiang Xun acted as if nothing was wrong, reached out, and picked up his phone.
He even had the leisure to glance at the caller ID.
"Old Ghost."
He pressed the speakerphone button.
Then, under Director Li Jianguo's murderous gaze, he held the phone up in front of himself.
From the other end of the line came Old Ghost's signature, lazy, as if half-asleep voice.
"Hey, kid, you're still not asleep this late?"
Jiang Xun did not speak.
Old Ghost did not seem to need an answer and continued on his own.
"Sigh, it's such a late night, the weather is dry, and it's easy to catch fire."
"I think I just saw... that granary in your backyard, Director Li, the one called 'Nordic Bank Anonymous Trust,' did it catch fire?"
"The fire is quite big, too."
As his voice fell.
Director Li Jianguo's face turned pale instantly.
That was no granary; that was all the black money he had scraped together over these years through various means, his greatest lifeline!
No one else could possibly know about this except himself!
"You...!"
He stared fixedly at Jiang Xun, or rather, at the phone in Jiang Xun's hand, his eyes filled with shock and disbelief.
Just at the moment he lost his composure, a hoarse, drunken cough suddenly sounded from the narrow alleyway outside the rental apartment.
Cough, cough...
The sound was not loud, but it clearly reached the ears of everyone in the room.
The young enforcement officer subconsciously glanced out the window, his pupils contracting sharply. On the left side of the alley, a lame old man carrying a broom stood there, though he didn't know when he had arrived.
On the right side of the alley, a sloppy old man wearing a white coat, holding a tattered book in his hand, was leaning against the wall, looking over here with a grin.
Lame Zhang, Old Baitou—they stood one on the left and one on the right, blocking both exits of the alley, surrounding the entire building, along with the enforcement team inside.
Director Li Jianguo also sensed the movement outside. He turned his head and saw those two seemingly harmless old men, and his heart began to beat wildly and uncontrollably.
A sense of crisis, even more intense and lethal than what Jiang Xun had just brought him, enveloped his entire body. Inside the cramped rental apartment, three forces stood in a silent standoff, and the blinding red light on the arrest warrant appeared so ridiculous and powerless at this moment.
