36: Chapter 36 Monthly Assessment: Strength Speaks
Teacher Wu Jingguo's roar, carrying an unquestionable authority, echoed through the dusk-filled campus.
The low-level gods nearby, who had just ignited their sparks of hope, saw the smiles on their faces instantly freeze, replaced by deep worry and fear. In their eyes, the homeroom teacher represented the school's rules, an existence they could not contend with.
Jiang Xun, however, simply pushed up his glasses calmly.
He looked at Teacher Wu Jingguo's face, twisted with anger, his tone devoid of even the slightest ripple.
"Fine."
A single word, crisp and decisive.
He turned and walked straight toward the office building, his composed back appearing not as if he were going to face judgment, but as if he were heading to a date that had nothing to do with him.
Teacher Wu Jingguo was choked up by his attitude, feeling as though his full-force punch had hit cotton, his expression turning even uglier. He snorted coldly and followed closely behind.
Xu Qingran watched Jiang Xun's back and, without a moment's hesitation, stepped forward to follow.
Her stance, at this moment, was self-evident.
...
Inside the office, the atmosphere was so oppressive it was suffocating.
Brother Feng and several other prodigies were sitting on the sofa to the side; although their faces were still pale, their eyes were filled with malice and schadenfreude. Beside them sat several middle-aged men with luxurious attire and extraordinary bearing, currently sizing up Jiang Xun, who had just entered, with cold, scrutinizing gazes.
They were the fathers of Brother Feng and the others, prominent figures in the Jiangcheng divine realm.
As soon as Teacher Wu Jingguo entered the office, the anger on his face vanished, replaced by a humble and fawning smile as he personally served tea and water for the parents.
"Chairman Chen, distinguished parents, please rest assured, our school will definitely handle this matter seriously and will never tolerate it!"
The pot-bellied middle-aged man leading them was none other than Brother Feng's father, Chen Jianhua, the chairman of the Chen Group. He did not touch the tea Teacher Wu Jingguo handed him, but instead slammed his hand heavily onto the table.
"Handle it? How will you handle it? My son's divine kingdom army was completely wiped out, and his divine kingdom core was almost destroyed! Teacher Wu, is this the teaching environment of your Jiangcheng No. 3 High School's Key Class? It's practically a gu-breeding pit! I donate millions of Faith Points to the school every year so my son can enjoy top-tier education, not so he can be torn apart by some stray dog that popped out of nowhere!"
His voice was loud, filled with the pressure of someone in a superior position.
"If you don't give me an explanation today, and if you don't expel this thug named Jiang Xun, I will immediately withdraw all sponsorships and file a complaint with the Education Department to thoroughly investigate your school's management issues!"
The other parents chimed in one after another, their words filled with disdain for Jiang Xun and pressure on the school.
"A piece of trash with an E-grade talent who snuck into the Key Class using underhanded methods, and now he dares to openly attack a classmate. This kind of person is just a rat dropping in a pot of soup!"
"He must be expelled! If you keep him, how can we feel safe leaving our children in your care?"
Cold sweat streamed down Teacher Wu Jingguo's forehead, and he nodded and bowed repeatedly before suddenly turning around to shout sternly at Jiang Xun.
"Jiang Xun! Did you hear that? Hurry up and apologize to the parents and your classmate!"
Everyone's gaze focused on Jiang Xun.
The corners of Brother Feng and the others' mouths were already curled up, waiting to see his pathetic, fawning display.
Jiang Xun, however, didn't even look at them.
He pulled over a chair, sat down opposite Chen Jianhua, leaned forward slightly, and spoke calmly.
"Apologize? Sure. But before I apologize, I would like to ask Chairman Chen a few questions first."
Chen Jianhua frowned, clearly not expecting a student to be so composed before him.
Jiang Xun didn't wait for his answer and continued on his own.
"First, classmate Brother Feng said I publicly attacked him outside of school. May I ask, the incident took place in Mist Canyon, which belongs to an off-campus wilderness resource zone. According to the 'Divine Law,' all battles between gods, as long as they do not cause the divine fire to extinguish or the permanent destruction of the divine kingdom, are considered reasonable competition. Am I right?"
Chen Jianhua's expression stalled.
Jiang Xun continued: "Second, before classmate Brother Feng went to Mist Canyon, he had been surrounding, slaughtering the believers of, and plundering the resources of classmate Lin Hao, a D-grade talent god, at the same location for three consecutive days. According to the rules of the divine realm, this behavior is called 'farming wild monsters,' and it is also called bullying. Am I right?"
As soon as he finished speaking, he pulled up a video from his divine kingdom terminal and projected it in the center of the office.
In the video, the entire process of how Brother Feng and the others playfully slaughtered Lin Hao's believers, how they mocked him, and how they humiliated him was shown. Although the image was a bit blurry, the sound was exceptionally clear.
This was something he had asked Old Ghost to help him buy from someone in the black market who specialized in intelligence.
Brother Feng's face turned pale in an instant.
"Third," Jiang Xun's gaze turned to Teacher Wu Jingguo, "As the president of the Civilization Mutual Aid Association, I have an obligation to help members who are being bullied. My actions belong to self-defense to stop bullying, and after winning, I only collected compensation to make up for classmate Lin Hao's losses, without destroying the other party's divine kingdom core, which completely falls within the scope of reasonable competition. Teacher Wu, am I right?"
Teacher Wu Jingguo's mouth opened, but he couldn't say a single word.
The office was dead silent.
Just then, Xu Qingran, who had been standing behind Jiang Xun, took a step forward, her cold voice ringing out.
"I can testify."
Everyone's gaze was instantly drawn to her.
Chen Jianhua looked at Xu Qingran, his brow furrowing even deeper. He recognized this girl—the apple of the eye of Jiangcheng Prefect Xu Zhenbang.
"I happened to be passing by last night and saw it with my own eyes." Xu Qingran ignored everyone's gaze and looked straight at Teacher Wu Jingguo, "Everything classmate Jiang Xun said is true. Furthermore, he only intervened at the very last moment when classmate Brother Feng was about to destroy classmate Lin Hao's divine kingdom core. His actions were not an attack; they were an intervention."
Her words were like a massive boulder, completely shattering the public opinion pressure created by Chen Jianhua and the others.
The testimony of an ordinary student might be insignificant, but the testimony of the Prefect's daughter had enough weight to crush everything!
Teacher Wu Jingguo was now in a dilemma, sweating profusely. On one side was a wealthy capitalist, and on the other was a promising child of an official. He couldn't afford to offend either.
He wiped his sweat, rolled his eyes, and finally came up with a "perfect" solution.
"Ahem!" He cleared his throat and stepped out to smooth things over, "Since it's just a small friction between young people and both sides are at fault, I think, why not solve it in the way gods do!"
He looked at Chen Jianhua, then at Jiang Xun.
"Next week is our Key Class's monthly assessment. On the assessment field, strength speaks! Let all grievances be settled together during the assessment, how about that?"
Chen Jianhua's expression turned gloomy. He naturally knew what kind of person his son was; in a one-on-one fight, ten Brother Fengs wouldn't be a match for Jiang Xun.
As if seeing through his thoughts, Teacher Wu Jingguo immediately added.
"For the sake of fairness, and to test the students' teamwork abilities, this assessment will adopt a 5v5 divine kingdom team battle mode!"
He emphasized his tone and said pointedly: "Free team formation is allowed, and seizing the opponent's points is allowed! In the end, the team at the bottom of the point ranking will... be expelled from the Key Class!"
As soon as these words were spoken, Brother Feng's eyes lit up instantly!
A 5v5 team battle?
Behind him stood the entire circle of prodigies in the Key Class; he could just pull a few people over and form a luxurious team! And Jiang Xun? A loner, plus an unknown Xu Qingran—where would he find three teammates?
This rule was practically tailor-made for him!
Chen Jianhua also immediately understood Teacher Wu Jingguo's meaning; this was a disguised way of favoring one side. A smile finally appeared on his gloomy face, and he nodded.
"Good! Teacher Wu's proposal is very fair. Let's do as you say!"
Teacher Wu Jingguo sighed in relief, turned to look at Jiang Xun, and announced in an irresistible tone.
"Jiang Xun, do you have any objections?"
In his view, Jiang Xun had no room to refuse.
Jiang Xun looked at the smug Brother Feng and the faces in the office filled with arrogance, and suddenly smiled.
He pushed up his glasses and spoke slowly.
"I have no objections."
"However, I have an additional condition."
"If I win, I want them to bow and apologize to Lin Hao in public."
