20: Chapter 20 Entering the Elite Class
Inside the rental room, the air was as solid as iron.
Director Li Jianguo's face lost all color the moment he heard the words "Granary."
The power he took pride in seemed like a joke at this moment, but before he could even recover from the shock of the black gold account being exposed, the two seemingly ordinary figures outside the alley dealt him an even heavier blow.
"The Deity Administration Bureau is handling a case! Unrelated personnel, disperse immediately!" a squad leader of the enforcement team shouted toward the window with a feigned show of strength.
On the left side of the alley, Lame Zhang moved. Carrying a broom and limping, he ignored the warnings of over a dozen anti-magic spears and walked right in front of the enforcement team. His cloudy eyes swept over Director Li Jianguo, his voice raspy like a rusted blade.
"The Deity Administration Bureau's red arrest warrant indeed grants the authority to kill on the spot."
"But this authority is invalid against the family members and Disciples of our military's meritorious personnel."
Saying this, he reached out with his calloused hand and pulled something from his chest. It was a badge, forged entirely from an unknown metal, worn down beyond recognition, and even stained with dried, dark red blood.
But in the center of the badge, a shining star and the words "Special Grade" engraved beneath it seemed to carry immense weight. Every member of the enforcement team, including the young member, shuddered the moment they saw this badge and instinctively straightened their backs.
This was the highest honor of the military department, the Special Grade Merit Medal!
Each one represented unparalleled contributions to the Human Race, a glory exchanged for mountains of corpses and seas of blood! Seeing the merit medal was like seeing the God of War himself!
"Veteran Zhang Wangshan, questioning the Jiangcheng Deity Administration Bureau." Lame Zhang spoke word by word, his voice like a resonant bell. "Has the enforcement procedure for arresting my Disciple Jiang Xun been reported to the military court?!"
Director Li Jianguo's heart sank to the bottom.
He never imagined that a school's lame gatekeeper would be an existence of this level!
On the other end of the alley, Old Baitou didn't even walk over.
He just leaned against the wall, lazily opened his personal terminal, and dialed a number.
"Hello, Old Liu? Are you asleep yet?"
"Me? I'm in Jiangcheng, watching a match. Oh, guess what I saw? That little fellow named Jiang Xun, whom the Provincial Education Department wants to specially recruit this year, is being held at gunpoint by your Jiangcheng Deity Administration Bureau. They're saying they want to kill him on the spot."
"Right, right, that little monster with an E-Rank Talent who swept through the Resource Competition. Yeah, the charge is colluding with an evil god. Tsk tsk, these days, it's really hard for a Genius to stand out."
The call ended.
Director Li Jianguo's hands began to tremble uncontrollably.
If Lame Zhang's merit medal had blocked his actions procedurally, then Old Baitou's call to the high-level officials of the Provincial Education Department had pronounced his death sentence politically!
The final straw that broke the camel's back followed immediately after.
Director Li Jianguo's personal terminal started ringing like crazy.
The Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection, major media outlets in Jiangnan Province, his direct superior... countless names he least wanted to see right now were flashing frantically on his screen.
He knew that Old Ghost's "fire" had reached him.
He had lost.
He lost completely and utterly, a total defeat.
"Withdraw!"
Director Li Jianguo squeezed these words out from between his teeth.
He gave Jiang Xun a venomous, deep look, his eyes saying that this matter was far from over.
Then, he led the equally despondent enforcement team and disappeared into the night in a pathetic state.
A certain-death situation vanished into thin air.
The next day, the Resource Competition Finals.
The entire stadium was packed to capacity.
What happened at Jiang Xun's rental room last night had already become an open secret through various channels.
Everyone knew that this battle was not just the finals, but a final rebellion of the commoners against the aristocratic elite.
Jiang Xun's opponent was the previous champion, a Prodigy with a powerful A-rank "Holy Light" civilization.
But in the face of Jiang Xun, who had undergone a dual transformation in both tactics and mindset, all of this was meaningless.
The match began.
Facing the overwhelming Holy Light Angel Legion summoned by his opponent, Jiang Xun simply waved his hand calmly.
In his Divine Kingdom, there were no thousands of troops and horses; only dozens of elite squads with seamless coordination rushed out.
Sometimes they transformed into Rock Trolls, charging head-on to disrupt the enemy's formation.
Sometimes they vanished into illusion mists to precisely assassinate the enemy's command units.
Sometimes they formed legion battle arrays, dividing, surrounding, and eroding the enemy's effective strength.
Jiang Xun perfectly fused all the civilizations he had plundered with the tactics taught by Lame Zhang, performing an unbelievable art of war.
From beginning to end, the opponent's Holy Light Legion didn't even touch the walls of Jiang Xun's Divine Kingdom before being dragged down, dismantled, and finally annihilated in one fell swoop.
Ten minutes.
When the light representing victory lit up, Jiang Xun wasn't even out of breath.
The stadium fell into a dead silence at first, then erupted into the most thunderous cheers since its construction!
The award ceremony.
Under the glow of countless camera flashes, the Dean of Students—who had once thrown Jiang Xun's application into the trash—turned pale. With trembling hands, he personally delivered the championship trophy and the Key Class admission notice he had once looked down upon into Jiang Xun's hands.
He tried to force a smile, but his facial muscles refused to cooperate, resulting in an expression uglier than crying.
Jiang Xun accepted the trophy and the notice.
He didn't offer a single polite word of thanks. Instead, he picked up the microphone and calmly scanned the audience.
"I stand here today only to prove one thing."
His voice rang through every corner of the stadium via the speakers.
"Rules are meant to protect fairness, not to be used as tools by certain people to suppress those who differ from them."
"If the rules are unfair, then we will break them with our own hands!"
"And establish new rules that belong to us!"
These words made the blood of all the low-level gods in the audience boil. They looked at the figure on the stage as if they were looking at their own god.
After the ceremony, Jiang Xun distributed most of the resource rewards to Lin Hao and other commoner classmates who had supported him. He announced the establishment of the "Daybreak" Mutual Aid Society for resource sharing and collective progress, which received an overwhelming response.
After doing all this, he walked alone toward the Key Class teaching building—representing elites and privilege—amidst the cheers.
He pushed open the door that he had once been barred from.
Inside the classroom, faces of "Prodigies"—some shocked, some jealous, some curious, some disdainful—all turned to look at him in unison.
Jiang Xun's gaze calmly swept across the room, finally landing on Xu Qingran in the corner, who had a complex look in her eyes.
His new journey had only just begun.
