4: Chapter 4 Assessment Begins
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The deep, resonant toll of a bell echoed throughout the Divine Kingdom assessment arena of Jiangcheng No. 3 High School.
This was a massive domed structure capable of holding ten thousand people, and in the center of the venue, hundreds of miniature Divine Kingdom light orbs, emitting various colors of light, floated in mid-air like stars.
"Silence!"
On the Proctor's podium, a middle-aged man with a receding hairline cleared his throat, his voice amplified by Divine Power, carrying clearly to every corner.
"The annual Divine Kingdom combat assessment now officially begins!"
"The rules are the same as in previous years: one-on-one random matchmaking, Divine Kingdom sandbox integration; the winner advances, the loser is eliminated!"
"The ultimate champion will receive one hundred thousand Faith Points provided by our school, as well as an A-Rank resource pack!"
Whoa...! The crowd instantly erupted.
One hundred thousand Faith Points!
That was a massive sum of money that an ordinary deity might not be able to save up in ten years even if they didn't eat or drink!
In countless eyes, flames of greed and desire ignited.
However, the gazes of most people drifted, intentionally or unintentionally, toward the same direction.
The VIP seating area in the very front row of the assessment arena.
Li Ang was surrounded by a group of lackeys like stars around the moon; he sat with his legs crossed, a look of arrogant certainty hanging on his face.
To him, these one hundred thousand Faith Points were nothing more than something already in his pocket.
He had only one purpose for coming today.
In front of all the teachers and students of the school, he would personally crush that ignorant piece of trash!
As if sensing something, his gaze pierced through the bustling crowd, precisely locking onto an inconspicuous figure in the corner.
Jiang Xun.
He was leaning against the wall, head bowed, reading a paper book, as if all the clamor of the outside world had nothing to do with him.
"Heh, still putting on an act."
Li Ang let out a sneer of disdain.
He stood up and deliberately released the pressure of his silver-rank Undead Divine Kingdom.
A cold, bone-chilling Death Qi instantly swept toward the direction of Jiang Xun.
The surrounding students, as if avoiding a snake or scorpion, retreated one after another, clearing a path.
"Jiang Xun, listen well."
Li Ang's voice carried undisguised malice.
"In the upcoming assessment, you had better pray that you don't run into me."
"Otherwise, I will make you kneel on the ground and watch with your own eyes as your Divine Kingdom is trampled by my undead army, watch as your believers are torn to shreds one by one, and then transformed into my most lowly undead slaves!"
The grating declaration echoed over the assessment arena.
The crowd was silent for a moment, then burst into waves of jeering laughter.
"Young Master Li is domineering!"
"A piece of trash with an E-Rank Talent dares to challenge Young Master Li? Truly suicidal!"
"Waiting to watch the show; I bet Jiang Xun won't last a minute!"
On the podium, the Dean of Students smiled obsequiously at the Principal beside him: "Principal, look, Student Li Ang's Aura is truly worthy of an A-Rank Prodigy. This year's guaranteed spot for the Jiangnan Province Prodigy Tournament is undoubtedly his."
The Principal nodded with satisfaction, his gaze sweeping over the distant Jiang Xun, flashing a trace of imperceptible disgust.
In his view, this kind of bottom-tier student with no background was just trash that should be eliminated.
Facing this overwhelming ridicule and malice, Jiang Xun finally made a move.
He slowly closed his book and raised his head.
On that scholarly face, there was none of the fear or anger that the crowd had expected.
Only a stillness like stagnant water.
He adjusted the glasses on the bridge of his nose, the lenses reflecting a cold light, and his voice, though not loud, reached Li Ang's ears clearly.
"You had better pray as well."
"Do not make me wait too long."
After saying this, he didn't even glance at Li Ang again, turning and walking toward the teleportation array in the matchmaking zone.
Li Ang's smile froze on his face.
His fists clenched until they rattled.
Good. Very good!
A piece of trash about to die actually dares to be this arrogant!
He would make Jiang Xun pay the most painful price for his arrogance!
"Divine Kingdom matchmaking, officially begins!"
As the Proctor gave the order, the names of countless students began to scroll rapidly across the giant light screen in the center of the venue.
Every time it froze, it represented the intertwining of two fates.
"First round, first match! Zone A, Zhao Yu, versus, Sun Miao!"
"First round, second match! Zone B, Chen Jing, versus, Zhou Hao!"
...The matchmaking results were revealed one by one.
The atmosphere of the entire assessment arena became increasingly tense.
Li Ang stared fixedly at the light screen; he was waiting, waiting for that name that he hated to the bone to appear.
Finally!
"First round, seventeenth match! Zone G!"
On the light screen, two names slowly froze in place.
Jiang Xun. Versus Wang Qiang!
Whoa! The whole arena was instantly in an uproar.
Who was Wang Qiang?
That was the most loyal dog under Li Ang!
C-Rank Talent, black iron rank Orc Civilization!
Among ordinary students, he could be considered a powerhouse.
"Hahaha! Heaven is truly helping me!"
Li Ang laughed wildly.
Beside him, a sturdy young man with a face full of flab walked out with a sinister smile and cupped his fists at Li Ang.
"Rest assured, Young Master Li! You don't need to lift a finger; today, I will cripple this suicidal thing for you!"
Wang Qiang turned around and headed viciously toward the G Zone teleportation array.
He deliberately walked in front of Jiang Xun, pointed at Jiang Xun's nose, and said arrogantly.
"Kid, consider yourself unlucky."
"I hope your bones are hard enough; don't let me shatter them with a single punch, that would be so boring."
Jiang Xun's gaze swept from his face to his sturdy body, and finally landed on his thick arms.
He suddenly smiled.
"I hope your Orcs are durable enough."
"Don't waste my time."
After saying this, Jiang Xun walked straight onto the teleportation array, a flash of light, and he disappeared from the spot.
Wang Qiang was stunned for a moment, then flew into a rage.
"You're courting death!"
He also stepped onto the teleportation array and disappeared.
In the spectator seats, everyone surged toward the G Zone spectator light screen.
They all wanted to see how that arrogant E-Rank piece of trash would be torn to shreds by the Orc army of a C-Rank Prodigy.
On the light screen, the two Divine Kingdom sandboxes began to integrate.
On the left was Wang Qiang's Orc Wasteland.
On the black land, three hundred burly black iron rank Orc Berserkers holding heavy axes were letting out heaven-shaking roars, their muscles knotted and filled with explosive power.
On the right was Jiang Xun's barren initial Divine Kingdom.
Yellow soil, gravel, plus dozens of Mortals who looked weak and frail.
The strong contrast made the outcome of this battle, in everyone's eyes, already without any suspense.
Hum...!
The Divine Kingdom passage opened completely!
"Charge for me!"
Wang Qiang grinned and gave the order for a full-scale invasion.
"Crush them!"
Three hundred Orc Berserkers, like a black tide, carrying an Aura of destroying everything, charged toward Jiang Xun's fragile Divine Kingdom.
Jiang Xun stood above the Divine Kingdom, hands in his pockets, his expression calm.
He watched the Orc army surging over like a torrent and pushed up his glasses.
Beneath the lenses, a trace of strange amusement flashed.
"Finally, here to deliver takeout, are you?"
