120: Chapter 120 David's Provocation! Ella's Face Hurts from the Retort.
David stood at the company entrance, hands on his hips, mocking them.
He blocked the glass doors of Chenxing Investment with two of his underlings, chin tilted up in arrogance. He deliberately raised his voice, causing passing office workers to stop and watch, pointing at the entrance.
"I thought it was some big company, but it turns out to be just a crappy little studio. How dare you call yourselves an investment firm?" David curled his lip, his eyes sweeping over the office environment inside with disdain, his tone full of contempt. "With this kind of scale, you have the nerve to open for business?"
The hallway at the entrance of the company wasn't very wide. With him blocking it, it was inconvenient for people to enter or leave. The crowd of onlookers grew, all waiting to see the spectacle.
Seeing the crowd growing, David mocked them even more vigorously, even speaking without restraint, directly resorting to discrimination: "Do Chinese people even deserve to run an investment firm? Do you even know how to play the capital game? Don't tell me you just threw a few people together and want to come out here to scam money!"
As soon as these words were out, the onlookers frowned; it was too arrogant and domineering.
Ella was sitting at the trading desk checking data. Hearing the provocation at the door, her face darkened instantly. She stood up abruptly, stepped into her high heels, and walked out quickly, exuding a powerful aura.
Standing in front of David, her posture was upright and her eyes were cold and sharp. Her sharp-tongued nature instantly erupted, and she didn't indulge him in the slightest.
"I wondered who was barking nonsense here; it turns out to be Young Master David, who just gets by on his family's reputation." Ella sneered, her voice clear and loud enough for everyone around to hear distinctly. "You have no real skills yourself, relying entirely on your family to back you up, yet you have the nerve to say others aren't qualified? It's still much better than you, a good-for-nothing who only knows how to sponge off his parents!"
This sentence precisely struck David's sore spot. His face instantly flushed red, and he became enraged by shame: "What nonsense are you spouting! A woman who was fired by an investment bank, how dare you talk to me like that?"
"I was fired because I couldn't stand the dirty dealings, and I got rehired based on my own ability." Ella raised an eyebrow, stepping closer, pressuring him. "What about you? If you left your family, you couldn't even write a proper trading report, yet you have the nerve to stand here and mock others?"
David was rendered speechless by her retort, trembling with anger, yet unable to find words to refute her.
Jack walked out at this moment, holding a tablet with a calm smile on his face, and thrust the screen directly in front of David.
"Mr. David, stop causing trouble here." Jack's tone was calm, yet every word carried a deterrent force. "I have all the records of your previous private, unauthorized wealth management and malicious manipulation of small-cap stocks. Every single transaction is perfectly clear."
David looked down, his face instantly turning from red to white, his eyes filled with panic. If those irregular operations were exposed, not only would he be blacklisted from the circle, but even his family wouldn't be able to protect him.
"You... you dare to set me up?" David's voice trembled, lacking his previous arrogant air.
"I just don't want anyone causing trouble at Chenxing Investment." Jack took back the tablet and said indifferently, "If you keep causing trouble, I don't mind handing these pieces of evidence directly to the regulatory authorities."
Just when David was in a dilemma and extremely embarrassed, Lin Chen walked out slowly from the office.
His expression was calm, commanding respect without anger. Just by standing at the door, his aura instantly overwhelmed everyone else. David met Lin Chen's gaze and subconsciously took half a step back, feeling inexplicably panicked in his heart.
Lin Chen's gaze swept over David calmly. His tone was cold but carried an unquestionable dominance: "I opened this company; it's not your place to point fingers. The entrance is a public area, but your malicious provocation and disruption of operations have already crossed my bottom line."
David bit the bullet and roared, putting on a brave front: "I'm causing trouble, what can you do about it?"
"I can ruin your reputation." Lin Chen's tone was flat, yet every word was devastating. "I can submit the evidence of your violations at any time, and I can destroy your reputation in the circle whenever I want. If you stay here for one more second, I'll make the call right now. You can test whether I dare to do it."
David stiffened, looking at Lin Chen's certain gaze, knowing the other party wasn't bluffing.
The chatter of the onlookers grew louder, all mocking him for bringing this humiliation upon himself. David's face burned with pain, and he couldn't stay any longer.
"Just you wait! This isn't over!" David left a harsh threat, turned around, and slunk away with his underlings, not even daring to look back.
Ella watched his fleeing back and sneered disdainfully: "A bully who fears the strong and bullies the weak."
Lin Chen ordered indifferently: "Close the door, continue working. No need to pay attention to such a clown."
Everyone responded and returned to their posts. Chenxing Investment returned to order; the previous provocation was just an insignificant little interlude.
Meanwhile, David sat in his car, feeling more and more resentful the more he thought about it. Being retorted by Ella, threatened by Jack, and intimidated by Lin Chen—he couldn't swallow this anger no matter what.
He thought of John, who also hated Lin Chen to the bone. A flash of malice crossed his eyes. He immediately took out his phone, found John's number, and dialed it.
The call was connected quickly, and John's cold voice came through: "Who is it?"
"Mr. John, this is David. I also have a deep grudge against Lin Chen." David lowered his voice, his tone urgent. "That kid has started a company now and is acting arrogant. Let's team up and take him down together!"
Upon hearing Lin Chen's name, John was already burning with rage. Learning that David had also been humiliated by Lin Chen, he immediately became interested. He was just worrying about having no one to help deal with Lin Chen, and David had come knocking—it was practically a godsend of a helper.
The two hit it off immediately over the phone, discussing back and forth, and began to conspire on a plan against Lin Chen and Chenxing Investment.
David and John reached an agreement to cooperate.
