91: Chapter 91 Chinese Visitors
The Chinese residents crowded around, blocking the entrance to the Grocery Store.
The entrance to the Grocery Store was instantly packed tight, filled with the clamor of voices. Over a dozen Chinese neighbors from Chinatown stood at the front, their expressions a mix of earnestness and panic, while behind them, curious residents from the Slum District gathered to watch.
Faint scratches from the previous disturbance by thugs still remained on the wall, and the harsh midday sun illuminated everyone's expressions with stark clarity.
The first to step forward was an elderly man of Chinese descent with graying hair. He bowed deeply to Lin Chen, his voice choked with emotion: "Brother Chen, we came all the way from Chinatown specifically to beg you to save us!"
The surrounding Chinese merchants also crowded around, their faces full of anxiety: "David is maliciously forcing us to vacate our shops and has pushed the relocation compensation to an extremely low level. We have looked everywhere for help, but no one dares to assist us!"
"We heard that you dare to go head-to-head with David and even helped Attorney Chen with her lawsuit. You are the only one in the entire district willing to stand up for the Chinese people!"
"Brother Chen, if you don't help us, all of us small business owners will be ruined!"
Everyone spoke at once, tearfully recounting the grievances of being bullied by David. From malicious supply cut-offs to violent threats, every single incident was chilling.
The surrounding neighbors sighed along with them, but no one dared to intervene and offend David.
Lin Chen raised his hand in a calming gesture, and the noisy crowd instantly fell silent.
Standing on the steps, his expression calm and composed, he spoke in a gentle yet powerful tone: "Don't rush, tell me slowly, I am listening. Explain clearly what David has done to bully you."
He did not make rash promises to take everything on himself; instead, he listened patiently, committing each of their experiences to memory.
Seeing his sincere attitude and lack of airs, the Chinese neighbors felt their panicked hearts settle somewhat.
Just then, Lin Chen's phone rang urgently, and "Chen Xi" appeared clearly on the screen.
Lin Chen gave a slight nod to everyone: "Please wait a moment, everyone, I need to take an important call."
He walked to a quiet spot nearby and pressed the answer button: "Attorney Chen."
"Brother Chen, I found it! I've found irrefutable evidence of David's misconduct!" Chen Xi's voice was filled with irrepressible excitement, sharp and efficient. "I've uncovered bank transfer records of David colluding with district officials, forged land approval documents, and recordings of him maliciously forcing the Chinese residents to vacate. It's all solid proof that can send him straight to prison!"
Lin Chen's eyes narrowed slightly, his tone remaining calm: "Is the evidence reliable? Have you made backups?"
"Absolutely reliable!" Chen Xi stated firmly. "I've made three copies, stored in the cloud and in a safe house. They can be submitted to the court at any time! David won't be able to escape this time!"
"Well done. Keep the evidence safe and don't act rashly," Lin Chen instructed calmly. "Wait until the day of the hearing to release it all at once."
"Understood, I await your command!" Chen Xi replied crisply and hung up the phone.
Lin Chen put away his phone and returned to the entrance. Li Wei had already stepped forward to help calm everyone down. Seeing him return, Li Wei immediately said: "Brother Chen, I'll keep everyone steady for now, don't you worry."
Lin Chen nodded, his gaze sweeping across the crowd and landing on a middle-aged man with glasses and a refined temperament at the back.
This man had been silent the whole time, but his gaze was exceptionally sharp, completely different from the ordinary merchants.
"This gentleman, you don't look like you run an ordinary small business?" Lin Chen asked.
The middle-aged man was taken aback, then quickly stepped forward respectfully: "Hello, Brother Chen. My name is Zhou Ming. I used to work as a financial analyst on Wall Street and understand the rules of capital operation. I returned to Chinatown to open a shop because I couldn't stand David's tactics. This time, his actions are entirely based on illegal capital manipulation; I can be of great help!"
This was exactly the talent Lin Chen urgently needed, someone perfectly suited to deal with David's Jewish capital.
Lin Chen gave a slight nod: "Very good. If there is a place where I need you, I will not hesitate."
Seeing Lin Chen's confidence and knowing they had the assistance of Chen Xi's ironclad evidence, the Chinese neighbors were filled with hope. They thanked him one after another, trusting Lin Chen more than ever.
Lin Chen briefly promised to go all out during the trial, then had Li Wei send everyone away to wait for further notice.
After the crowd dispersed, the entrance to the Grocery Store returned to tranquility.
Meanwhile, in the private office of the David Family, the atmosphere was violent to the extreme.
Sitting behind his desk, David heard the report from his subordinate that Chen Xi had found core, irrefutable evidence and that the Chinatown Chinese residents had collectively turned to Lin Chen. His face instantly turned livid and ferocious.
His eyes bloodshot, he violently swung his arm, sweeping across the desk!
The notebook, pens, and folders on the desk were all swept to the floor, making a harsh clattering sound.
Like a mad tiger, David slammed the desk and roared: "Lin Chen! Chen Xi! Daring to go against me, David—I will make sure you all die without a burial place!"
