190: Chapter 190 North Star

Lin Mei noticed something was wrong with Gao Yuan and asked, "Brother Yuan, what are you going to do?"

"I'm going outside to take a look!"

"Will you be okay?"

Zhang Baiyi let out a sigh. "Sister Lin, aren't you worrying a bit too much? Old Gao is perfectly fine roaming the entire Solar System now; what could happen? The overlord of the Solar System... right, Old Gao?"

"A bit of an exaggeration, but you're not wrong!"

Gao Yuan lightened the mood, but he was still feeling uneasy. Before leaving, there were too many things to arrange.

The world had become this way because of him, so he had to bid farewell to Zhou Zhengli to prevent chaos in Xia Country should something happen to him.

Three days later...

Gao Yuan boarded the warship, carrying thirty tons of Dark Matter and ten tons of Antimatter. Not knowing how much the wormhole would consume, he brought everything he could.

He arrived at the Far side of the Moon, the entrance to the wormhole...

Gao Yuan took a deep breath.

Feeling the transformer in his pocket, Gao Yuan began to set up the Dark Matter.

As the Dark Matter was put in place, Gao Yuan soon saw the space ahead begin to warp. Shortly after, a barrier resembling ripples on water appeared.

There were all sorts of strange lights inside.

Gao Yuan piloted the warship toward the barrier, while preparing the Antimatter. Antimatter was used to counteract the internal pressure of the wormhole!

As the warship slowly entered the barrier... Gao Yuan felt his mind becoming slower and slower!

By the time the entire warship had entered the wormhole, Gao Yuan had lost consciousness.

When he opened his eyes, the warship was parked in a desert.

Through the warship's glass, Gao Yuan saw an endless desert outside. The sky was yellow, the ground was yellow, even the air was yellow!

I'm through?

Gao Yuan was completely dazed.

At that moment, the warship's system began to scan the environment.

"Beep, beep, beep. External environment scan complete. Temperature: 69 degrees. Nitrogen content in the air: 99%! Humidity: 5%..."

Listening to the system's broadcast, Gao Yuan felt a sense of trepidation.

This is the world of a high-level civilization?

Why is it so desolate?

Logically, since this place connects to the Solar System, there should at least be a communication station or something.

But there was nothing but endless desert here.

Gao Yuan didn't dare to go far, fearing he wouldn't be able to find his way home.

But now he had no idea where to start or what to do.

He had come to gather information.

Just as he was hesitating, the sand ahead suddenly moved. Soon, two 'people' emerged from underground!

Gao Yuan saw the familiar image of a human head on a snake's body. When the two snakemen saw Gao Yuan's warship, one of them 'walked' directly toward it.

Gao Yuan took out the transformer. As long as the transformer had an implanted gene library, it could perform a transformation.

Gao Yuan immediately transformed into a snakeman.

"Hiss, hiss..."

The snakeman made a sound at Gao Yuan.

Gao Yuan heard it and, surprisingly, was able to analyze its meaning quickly.

"This is a forbidden zone..."

A forbidden zone?

It seems that's how it is.

Gao Yuan opened the hatch and walked out.

Mimicking the voice of the snakeman from before, he said, "I've lost my way. Where is this place?"

"Open your mind. We need to verify your identity now!"

The snakeman said to Gao Yuan.

How was Gao Yuan supposed to know how to open his mind?

He hesitated for a moment, then steeled his heart. He summoned his mecha, flew out of the warship, and dragged the two snakemen inside.

In for a penny, in for a pound. Once they were inside the warship, Gao Yuan threw them directly into the vacuum storage at the back. Then, he reopened the wormhole and returned to the Moon!

In the next instant, Gao Yuan was back on the Moon.

The warship connected to the Moon's network...

Gao Yuan was stunned when he saw the time!

He clearly remembered it was June 7th when he left, but now that he was back, it was already July 8th. He had only shown his face and captured two snakemen, yet over a month had passed?

In Gao Yuan's perception, he had spent five minutes at most!

Five minutes against a month... Had he wasted time traversing the wormhole? Or was the flow of time in the high-level world thousands of times faster than here?

Gao Yuan would need to verify this next time.

Now, Gao Yuan needed to interrogate the two snakemen he had captured.

Gao Yuan transformed into a snakeman again and went to the vacuum storage. After the transformer's transformation, his entire body changed. Gao Yuan found that he didn't need to breathe at all now, and... his skin was very cold, with almost no body temperature, matching the surrounding environment.

It seemed these snakemen were cold-blooded creatures...

Cold-blooded creatures had an advantage: they consumed very little energy. For the same body size, they only consumed one-tenth as much as warm-blooded animals!

Gao Yuan approached the two snakemen.

"Wake up... Hey!"

The two snakemen opened their eyes and looked at Gao Yuan.

"Why did you capture us?"

"Because I wanted to! What are your names?"

"Lu Yuan!"

"Ji Li!"

What kind of names are these?

"Who are you?"

One of the snakemen asked.

"Who do you think I am?"

"Since you appeared in the forbidden zone, you must be a Testing Ground Monitor!"

A Monitor? Could it be that the Chinese ancestors, Nüwa and Fuxi, were also Monitors?

Gao Yuan continued asking, "Since you know I'm a Monitor, why did you still want to verify my identity?"

"It's the rule. Wait... you're not a Monitor. You... you're a Test Subject!"

One of the snakemen suddenly cried out in alarm.

Gao Yuan was taken aback. What exactly went wrong?

Even though they were on the Moon, they were inside the storage and couldn't see the scene outside at all! How did he suddenly recognize his identity?

"Bullshit..."

"You're a Test Subject. You have the scent of oxygen on you, you don't have an Identity Chip, this isn't the North Star System anymore, and our communication has been cut off!"

"Actually, I'm a scientist..."

Gao Yuan wanted to keep bluffing, but the two snakemen said nothing more, simply staring at him.

Gao Yuan looked helpless. I didn't want to hurt you, but you're not cooperating.

Gao Yuan waved his hand, and dozens of robots immediately entered to begin a full-body search of the two snakemen. Soon, two Bio-chips were found on them.

Because the chips were constant-temperature, they were difficult to hide on cold-blooded creatures.

After prying out the chips, they were immediately connected to a Optical Quantum Computer for cracking and analysis.

Surprisingly, the underlying programming language used by these chips was basically the same as human technology. The essence of computer language seemed to be 0s and 1s!

Soon, the cracking yielded preliminary results.

First was the identity of these two; the star system they were in was actually the North Star System!

Polaris is one of the brightest stars in Earth's night sky, located 434 light-years away. Its luminosity is 2,500 times that of the Sun, its diameter is 40 times larger, and its mass is 5 times that of the Sun.

Polaris is also a Triple Star System, similar to the Alpha System, which is well known as the home of the Trisolarans!

However, Polaris's Triple Star System is different from the Trisolaran system. Polaris is a Supergiant, while its Companion Star, Polaris-B, is very small! The second Companion Star is even smaller and is a Dwarf Star on the verge of going dormant!
