193: Chapter 193 I Want to Go Back to Earth
Gao Yuan felt his reactions slowing down significantly; his mind was a chaotic mess when suddenly, his body let out a loud 'bang'.
The transformer had failed.
Gao Yuan reverted to his human form. He immediately clutched his throat; there was no air, only searing heat... Gao Yuan felt like he was dying.
He used what remained of his consciousness to call out to his warship, which could be controlled via brainwaves! At this point, he didn't care about exposure; staying alive was the priority.
He watched as the warship flew over, the hatch opened, and a mechanical arm reached out...
Gao Yuan was about to be saved.
But in the next moment, he was hoisted up and carried away by the snake-person beside him.
Holy crap...
It's all over!
Gao Yuan watched the warship chase after him, and then his consciousness plunged into darkness!
When he woke up, he found himself lying in the warship's command center and breathed a sigh of relief.
The warship was reliable after all; it had saved him.
He immediately checked the exterior through the warship's surveillance monitors, wanting to see where he was.
One look and he was dumbfounded.
A circle of snake-people were surrounding him, pointing and whispering.
Seeing him move, the group let out excited 'hissing' sounds.
Where is this?
Gao Yuan looked around. There were buildings everywhere, some floating in the air, and even floating islands.
The sky was purple, with occasional flashes of blue light.
Gao Yuan tried to command the warship to fly away, but as soon as it started, it was restricted and couldn't take off at all.
Outside, a snake-woman was giving a presentation...
With his transformer broken, Gao Yuan couldn't understand the snake language at all and had no idea what they were saying.
Just as he was thinking about this, a notification sounded from the wrist machine on his arm.
"Would you like to enable the Universal Translator?"
"There's a Universal Translator too?"
"Communication between all things occurs via brainwaves. Based on our analysis and research of brainwaves, we have created the Universal Translator!"
"Enable!"
Gao Yuan only knew that this translator could translate all languages on Earth.
He hadn't had many chances to use it, only occasionally using it to communicate with foreign scientists at the Space Physics Laboratory!
Once enabled, the external sounds soon filtered in.
Everything was now translated.
Gao Yuan heard the snake-woman say:
"Welcome everyone to Fu City, the Kingdom of Wondrous Animals!"
"What you are seeing now is a creature from the Solar System, 474 light-years away! It is reported to be an aerobic organism that will die without oxygen!"
Whoosh—the surrounding snake-people let out bursts of exclamation.
"Heavens, it breathes oxygen?"
"To breathe oxygen and actually not die, that's amazing!"
"Look, their faces are just like ours, but the lower body is so strange. Those are arms too, they walk with their arms, haha!"
"I have to let my mother see this; there really are creatures in this world that aren't afraid of oxygen!"
Hearing these words, Gao Yuan had a look of utter bewilderment.
He wanted to die.
Back on Earth, he was a man of great influence, the uncrowned king of the planet, yet here he was being treated like an animal. What a disgrace.
It was a massive humiliation.
He must have been reported after being captured and then sent here to become a plaything for the snake-people to observe.
"This creature is called a 'Human,' and this is the first time a human has appeared in the North Star System! According to data, the human lifespan is roughly 100 years. Their body temperature is constant, maintained at around 36 degrees, and they need to consume 1,500 kilocalories of energy daily..."
"Constant temperature? What a waste of energy! A single human's consumption is actually ten times ours!"
"They can only live a hundred years? That lifespan is too short!"
"Since the humans are here, can we go to the Solar System for tourism now?"
Gao Yuan held his head in his hands, burying his face in his chest.
He had been too careless; he didn't know if he could still go back!
Was he going to spend the rest of his life being watched like a monkey in a zoo?
He still had so many things to do!
Furthermore, the words of those spectators reminded Gao Yuan that his appearance and capture here meant the wormhole was exposed. Would the higher civilizations blockade humanity?
Thinking of this, Gao Yuan smiled bitterly...
He was in this state already; why was he still worrying about whether they'd blockade others?
What was the point?
He had been too naive!
After an unknown amount of time, Gao Yuan saw the sky outside suddenly darken. The originally purple sky slowly faded, and a dim orange hue spread from the other side.
The massive crowds of snake-people who were observing him suddenly shouted and left the area.
"The Cold wave, the Cold wave is coming! Hurry home, get into the Underground City! Otherwise, you'll be frozen solid!"
Gao Yuan watched in surprise as a bit of white frost appeared wherever that warm orange light touched!
This is it?
This doesn't seem cold at all, just a bit of white frost! And they call this being frozen solid?
Gao Yuan was about to say something when he suddenly saw sheets of ice crystals 'crackling' as they covered the entire window of the warship!
The warship's system immediately began to sound an alarm.
"Outdoor temperature is minus 102 degrees. The warship is about to activate the backup heat source to heat the cabin!"
Gao Yuan's mouth hung open in shock. -102 degrees? What the hell? That's way colder than the North and South Poles.
Gao Yuan saw that there wasn't a single snake-person left in the vicinity.
His spirits lifted; wasn't this his best chance to escape?
He tried to start the warship again, but it wouldn't budge. Gao Yuan used the warship's monitoring system to check the surroundings—there was nothing!
But it just wouldn't fly.
What was the principle behind this?
If there were physical restraints, Gao Yuan could break them with the Laser Cannon or even by deploying Antimatter. But right now, he saw nothing; the warship was clearly resting steadily on the ground, so why couldn't it fly?
A magnetic field?
Or a gravitational field?
Gao Yuan wasn't sure.
But if he couldn't leave now, he might never get another chance!
If he couldn't fly up, then he'd go down.
The warship's engines were pushed to maximum power, pressing against the ground. Suddenly, there was a loud rumble...
A massive crater appeared in the ground. Gao Yuan felt his body drop, and then the warship was free.
He didn't dare linger and flew straight into the sky.
Looking down at this world from above, Gao Yuan saw a giant orange sphere on the horizon, occupying a fifth of the sky. It looked as if the planet was about to be swallowed. On the opposite side, there was a blue sun, but it was very small!
Gao Yuan remembered that the North Star System was a triple-star system. So where was the third star?
Gao Yuan looked down; he didn't see a third sun, but he saw another planet flying overhead with a yellow surface...
Gao Yuan didn't dare delay any longer, wanting to find his way home.
He certainly couldn't find it himself; his only hope now lay in the warship system's logs.
"Return to the wormhole's location!"
"Understood, searching for route!"
Gao Yuan looked at the console screen with a tense expression.
It was currently a mess of static.
"What's going on?"
"The monitoring system is suffering from massive cosmic ray interference... System is repairing!"
