211: Chapter 211 Return to the Biology Lab

His Chemistry level was currently LV3, with experience points reaching 9,492.

Glancing at this number, Zhao Yang did some mental calculations.

Once the patent application process at CATL was complete and the co-authored papers Professor Wu Kai promised were published in top-tier journals like JACS or Advanced Materials, the paper rewards settled by the system should trigger a massive surge in Chemistry experience.

Perhaps after those papers were published, his Chemistry level could smoothly rise to LV4.

However, reaching LV5 was clearly not going to be that simple.

Upgrading to LV5 required a full 200,000 subject experience points. That was an incredibly vast number.

His Physics experience was only 2,279; it was currently the foundational subject he had dabbled in the least. Without research projects to support it or published papers, experience growth was extremely slow.

And his Biology, which was nominally his major at Beijing Forestry University, remained at LV3 with only 5,110 experience points.

Aside from occasionally flipping through a few Cytology and Molecular Biology textbooks, he had invested almost no substantive research effort into this field.

Linguistics, with 1,281 points, was basically stagnant. He hadn't put any heart into it at all. As for upgrading?

He would wait until the other science subjects were leveled up; if there were any leftover scraps of free experience points, he'd give them to that subject.

After all, the Intelligence boost from upgrading Linguistics was relatively small; Zhao Yang was only interested in what kind of sub-disciplines would unlock once that subject reached LV5. In contrast, hardcore natural sciences like math, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology were the foundation for enhancing his brain's computing power and physical limits.

Zhao Yang looked at the data on the panel, his fingers lightly tapping on the tabletop.

The road ahead was long and arduous.

To raise all the foundational natural science subjects to the top level, relying solely on his current learning methods was far from enough. He had to acquire more free experience to forcibly fill the experience gaps in these subjects.

His gaze fell on the last line.

[Task: Inheritance of Knowledge (Incomplete)]

This was his only current system task. As long as he led the Yanlin University undergraduate team to win the highest award, the "higher education press cup," in the National Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling, he would receive an extremely generous amount of free experience as a reward.

This sum of experience would be enough for him to raise Physics or Biology by a level, and perhaps even yield some unexpected gains, like special items similar to the previous elementary artificial intelligence.

Closing the system panel, Zhao Yang stood up.

Zhao Yang didn't care much about the Mathematical Contest in Modeling. He had already thoroughly mastered and taught the past competition materials and algorithmic models to those forty-eight students.

With his guidance and teaching, nothing could naturally go wrong. He had already instilled the necessary algorithmic frameworks, the logical traps to avoid, and the standard procedures for data cleaning using the most high-pressure methods.

As for what kind of results those students would achieve once they were in the actual closed examination room... to be honest, Zhao Yang couldn't decide that.

The master leads you to the door, but the practice is up to the individual. He couldn't go into the exam room to write code and papers for them.

After all, they were already elites screened from the entire Beijing Forestry University. If they still couldn't produce results after his 'dimensional strike' style of training and teaching, it would only prove that this group's IQ and stress tolerance truly didn't reach the top national level.

There was simply no helping that.

Therefore, Zhao Yang didn't intend to waste too much extra time on this anymore. He would go to the intensive training when he had to, but there was no need to sink all his core energy into it.

Chemistry didn't need attention for now. The situation at CATL had reached a conclusion for the time being; there wouldn't be many places that needed him going forward, and the data processing should be much less than before.

Biology and Physics...

Zhao Yang's gaze shifted between these two subjects in his mind.

After some thought, Zhao Yang decided to put his efforts into Biology.

After all, Physics experiments required extremely expensive hardware equipment, which he currently had no opportunity to access.

Judging from his experience participating in the CATL lab, conducting experiments firsthand and solving actual research topics was the fastest way to gain subject experience. The system was very generous with the experience points it awarded for converting theory into actual output.

Furthermore, his previous cooperation with Professor Professor Gu Ming had been very good. Professor Professor Gu Ming was a pure scholar with a good personality, and the lab atmosphere was very clean, without so much internal maneuvering. Returning to continue with Biology wouldn't be much of a problem.

Upgrading subjects was his core goal!

After all, upgrading subjects provided an Intelligence boost, which was like a second development for the brain. He could also get two or three random lucky draws; these were all very important system resources related to his future development and planning.

Having clarified his future focus, Zhao Yang didn't hesitate.

He changed into a clean black jacket, left the Young Teachers Apartments, and walked straight toward the School of Life Sciences research building.

At 3:30 PM, the campus sun was intense.

Zhao Yang arrived at the third floor of the School of Life Sciences building with practiced ease and walked to Professor Professor Gu Ming's research group laboratory.

The door wasn't locked; it was slightly ajar.

Zhao Yang pushed the door open and walked in.

Various instruments were running in the lab, with the hum of centrifuges and the whir of fume hoods mixing together.

Gu Qing was currently wearing a white lab coat and blue Nitrile Gloves, standing before a clean bench, using a Pipette to add samples into an eight-strip tube with extreme focus. Her profile looked very calm and concentrated under the shadowless lamp.

Hearing the door open, Gu Qing didn't look up immediately. Only after finishing the sampling and placing the Pipette back on the rack did she turn her head toward the door.

Seeing it was Zhao Yang, Gu Qing was stunned for a moment. A flash of obvious surprise crossed her cool eyes, which quickly turned into a hint of joy.

“Zhao Yang?” Gu Qing took off her gloves and walked out from the bench. “What brings you here?”

“Finished what I had on hand and came to take a look,” Zhao Yang said casually as he walked in.

Two other second-year graduate students nearby, who were performing Gel Electrophoresis, also looked back at the sound.

Upon seeing Zhao Yang, these two seniors immediately showed expressions of great surprise, even fumbling as they put down the centrifuge tubes in their hands.

“Holy crap, God Zhao!” one of the seniors with glasses widened his eyes.

“What kind of wind is blowing today to bring a great deity like you to our little rinky-dink lab?”

The other senior also walked over and said with a smile, “We thought you went to Peking University to do math and published top computer science conferences, and that you’d never return to the School of Life Sciences lab again. After all, you’re our school’s living billboard now, a top-tier big shot in math and computer science.”
