6: Chapter 6 An Encounter
There is a limit to how many books one can borrow from the Library at once.
Four books, no more and no less.
Regardless, he could just borrow more after returning them once he finished studying.
Studying at the Library was not as efficient as studying at home.
Zhao Yang found that the best way to learn these knowledge points was to solve practice problems while studying.
That way, he would gain more experience and find it easier to get into the zone.
After realizing this, Zhao Yang prepared to buy some supplementary teaching materials.
Isn't grinding problems the easiest way to farm experience!
Just reading books wasn't satisfying enough!
Holding the four books, Zhao Yang went to the front desk to check them out.
With his head down, he had just reached the Library entrance.
"A Yang!"
A familiar voice from the side made Zhao Yang instinctively look up.
It was his classmate, Song Xi. Beside her was a female friend, and a boy from their class was following behind them.
The friend was named Wang Ya, and the boy was Li Jun, the class monitor of Zhao Yang's class.
Some memories of high school surfaced in Zhao Yang's mind.
Zhao Yang had a deep impression of Song Xi. This girl was in the same class as him, and her grades were similar; they were basically always first and second in the class.
With scores over six hundred, it was either Zhao Yang in first place or Song Xi.
Moreover, she was quite good-looking—pure and sweet. Some busybodies had even dubbed her the school beauty of Changcheng No. 1 High School.
As for Wang Ya?
Song Xi's best friend, average-looking with an ordinary appearance.
And Li Jun next to them... Zhao Yang only vaguely remembered that he seemed to have always liked Song Ya and was Song Ya's number one simp. As for specific details, Zhao Yang couldn't recall much.
In his memory, this guy was like a fly, always buzzing around Song Xi.
"Are you guys here at the Library to read too?"
Zhao Yang asked casually.
In fact, he didn't care about these things; at the moment, his mind was full of the system and studying.
"Yeah."
Song Xi nodded.
She hesitated for a moment, remembering what she'd heard from classmates—that Zhao Yang had a high fever on the second day of the College Entrance Examination, and it seemed quite serious.
He was sent to the hospital right after the College Entrance Examination ended.
"I heard you had a fever during the College Entrance Examination? Did you check your answers?"
After a pause, Song Xi still looked at Zhao Yang and asked.
"Not yet."
Zhao Yang shook his head.
"There's no need. The results will be out in a few days; I'll just check then."
"True."
Song Xi bit her lip. She actually really wanted to ask how he did on the College Entrance Examination, but she was afraid of hurting him; that wasn't in her nature.
But Wang Ya, next to her, was much more direct.
"Hey, Zhao Yang, I heard you had a fever on the second day of the College Entrance Examination, and it seemed really bad. Wouldn't that have a huge impact on your grades?
If you didn't do well, will you repeat the year?"
Wang Ya looked at Zhao Yang and asked curiously.
"It doesn't matter. If I didn't do well, then I didn't do well. I'll just go to whatever school accepts me."
Zhao Yang smiled.
"Zhao Yang, you're the top scholar of our class. You can't just give up on yourself. With your grades, you should repeat for a year! I think if you repeat a year, you can definitely aim for Tsinghua and Peking University.
That would be your best option."
Li Jun, standing nearby, put on a "for your own good" facade and spoke to Zhao Yang in a heavy and sincere tone.
Looking at Li Jun's act, Zhao Yang found it somewhat amusing.
"I don't want to repeat the year."
Saying that, Zhao Yang prepared to find an excuse to slip away.
"Wait, Zhao Yang, what books are those in your hand? 'the feynman lectures on physics'? A Physics book? The College Entrance Examination is already over, and you're coming to the Library to borrow Physics books?"
Wang Ya asked curiously, looking at Zhao Yang.
"Feynman? I read that book when I was doing the Physics Competition. It's a textbook we only used for the competition, containing a lot of University Physics content. Zhao Yang, can you even understand it?"
Li Jun looked at Zhao Yang and said with a smile.
"You didn't borrow this kind of book just to show off, did you? I've heard that some people come to the Library specifically to read books others can't understand just to pick up girls and get their attention.
I didn't expect our Brother Yang to be so experienced in this!"
Li Jun said this on purpose. His pursuit of Song Xi was known not just in their class, but by the whole school.
However, Song Xi had always been very cold toward him, while she talked more with Zhao Yang, who shared the top two spots in class with her.
This had always given Li Jun a sense of crisis.
But this time, Zhao Yang had messed up the College Entrance Examination, which made Li Jun very happy. He couldn't resist mocking him.
As a reincarnated person with a mature psyche, Zhao Yang couldn't be bothered to stoop to Li Jun's level.
"Brother, I only messed up the College Entrance Examination. Even at my worst, I scored over 650 in both my First Mock Exam and Second Mock Exam, and my Physics score was consistently above 90.
If even you can understand it, why wouldn't I? I should be asking you, what was your score?"
Zhao Yang looked at Li Jun with a cold gaze and said.
Li Jun was left speechless; his grades were indeed inferior to Zhao Yang's.
"Since you're a loser yourself, you fantasize all day that everyone else is a loser too. Judging others by your own standards... it seems you do this quite often!"
"You!"
Rebutted by Zhao Yang, Li Jun's face turned red instantly. He wanted to argue back, but since his usual grades were indeed not as good as Zhao Yang's, he opened his mouth but couldn't squeeze out a single word.
"Alright, alright. Zhao Yang, Li Jun was in the wrong. I apologize to you on his behalf."
Wang Ya hurriedly stepped in to smooth things over.
"No need. Anyway, I have things to do. I'm leaving."
Having said that, Zhao Yang spoke to the three of them and walked straight away.
Looking at Zhao Yang's back.
"Why is he so arrogant!"
Wang Ya said with some dissatisfaction.
"He's probably in a bad mood."
Beside her, Li Jun looked at the back of Guo Hao leaving, his expression returning to normal as he spoke with a bit of schadenfreude.
"I was in the same exam hall as him. He did very poorly. I saw him with a high fever at the time; he looked miserable and couldn't even sit steadily. The proctor even asked if he wanted to give up, but he refused."
Hearing Li Jun's gloating words,
Song Xi felt a bit uncomfortable.
"Alright, stop talking. Let's go read."
"Okay, okay, let's go read."
Hearing Song Xi speak, Li Jun immediately changed his tune and said with a smile.
The three of them entered the Library.
Zhao Yang didn't care at all about the episode of running into his classmates at the Library entrance.
Right now, his mind was entirely focused on gaining more experience!
He wanted to level up his subjects!
Complete the mission!
The system was so much more interesting!
Classmates? What were those? He wasn't close to them at all!
After rushing home, Zhao Yang went to his room and immediately began flipping through 'the feynman lectures on physics' again.
He was going to grind until he was completely exhausted!
On the other side,
Song Xi and the others had also entered the Library.
They split up to find the books they wanted to read, while Song Xi remembered the title of the book Zhao Yang was holding just now.
Physics...
Song Xi soon found another copy of 'the feynman lectures on physics' on the bookshelf.
After reading it for a while, Song Xi became more and more shocked.
Her grades were top-tier in the class, and scoring 640 or 650 on regular exams was easy for her. She was one of the few seed students at Changcheng No. 1 High School who could aim for Tsinghua and Peking University.
