424: Chapter 874 Two Thousand Quantum Bits!

Select "Extract" immediately!

Almost in a flash, the Beyond Quantum Computer appeared before Zhao Yang.

The device was much smaller than he had expected, roughly the size of a carry-on suitcase. Its silver-gray shell bore no brand markings, save for a thin ring of blue light slowly flowing along the edges of the chassis.

He reached out and touched the light band; the metal surface felt slightly cool under his fingertips, and the brightness of the light band shifted subtly with the pressure of his touch.

A computing power at the two-thousand quantum bit level.

In the current field of quantum computing, this figure wasn't just a matter of being a generation or two ahead; while the world's most advanced quantum computers were still struggling at the level of a few dozen quantum bits, the device before him had already leaped across several orders of magnitude.

Furthermore, the quantum computers currently in existence were, frankly speaking, just specialized tools tailored for specific content, and were not the same thing as a general-purpose computer at all.

But this two-thousand quantum bit computing power quantum computer before him was a general-purpose quantum computer!

That was a completely different concept!

Zhao Yang crouched down to carefully examine the interface on the chassis and discovered that its data ports were fully compatible with the interface standards of the supercomputing cluster in his basement.

Clearly, the system had taken his existing hardware environment into account when designing this device.

He carried the quantum computer to the basement and had Shin-chan begin transferring the data.

As the transfer progress bar popped up on the screen, Shin-chan's voice came through the speakers.

"Master, the underlying architecture of this device is completely different from the supercomputing cluster I was running before. Its parallel processing units are not based on the traditional von Neumann architecture, but rather a quantum state computing structure that I cannot yet fully parse."

"Once the data migration is complete, my computing efficiency will improve by several orders of magnitude. I am currently transferring all the backlogged Superalloy atomic structure simulations and WS-15 combustion chamber flow field calculations to the new device to re-run them."

"Run a set of benchmark tests once the migration is complete; I want to see the actual scale of the improvement."

The data migration speed was much faster than Zhao Yang had anticipated.

After the progress bar finished, the blue light band on the edge of the Beyond Quantum Computer flickered once and then stabilized.

Shin-chan was silent for a few seconds before speaking again. Its speech was significantly faster than before, and there was even an added tinge of emotion in its tone.

Zhao Yang could hear a sense of joy in its tone.

"Master, data migration is complete. I feel very good right now. The parallel processing capability of this quantum computer allows me to run independent analysis tasks across multiple dimensions simultaneously; computing resources that previously required waiting in line can now be called upon instantaneously.

I have also discovered some previously overlooked data correlations that will require time to reorganize. This feeling is like having been wearing glasses with an incorrect prescription; now that I've finally changed to the right prescription, the world has become much clearer in my eyes."

Zhao Yang leaned back in his chair, looking at the benchmark report that Shin-chan had pushed to the screen.

Every indicator had improved by several orders of magnitude compared to the previous supercomputing cluster; the WS-15 combustion chamber model, which previously took half a day to run, could now complete a full convergence cycle on this quantum computer in just over ten seconds.

He had Shin-chan test a few randomly generated encryption algorithms as a stress test, and the results were even more staggering.

The bitcoin network's SHA-256 hashing algorithm had almost no defense against this quantum computer; Shin-chan completed a brute-force decryption demonstration in a very short amount of time.

Most of the cryptographic systems in this world based on traditional Number Theory were no longer secure in the face of this quantum computer.

"Shin-chan, organize your current computing capabilities into a capability list, marking what can be used without attracting external attention and what needs to be kept strictly confidential."

Zhao Yang said to Shin-chan.

"Currently organizing. Additionally, those us stocks accounts I previously deployed globally can now be monitored in real-time with millisecond-level trading optimization across all accounts simultaneously. The previous operational latency is now basically negligible. Also, regarding the Superalloy atomic structure simulation, the node I was previously stuck on regarding the third-layer lattice bonding angle calculation was re-run just now using the new device, and it has been successfully resolved!"

Zhao Yang browsed through the data that Shin-chan had reorganized for a while, confirmed the progress on several items directly related to his current projects, and then got up to leave the basement.

The various capability upgrades of this quantum computer would take time to digest; it wasn't something that could be fully utilized all at once.

He let it run the various scientific research tasks on its own for now, as he had other matters to attend to.

He changed into a jacket and walked to the door, where Wang Hai had already prepared the car.

The two drove to the airport.

Father Zhao and Mother Zhao's flight was a direct flight from Changcheng to Yanjing, and it was already afternoon when they landed.

Zhao Yang waited for quite a while at the arrival gate before seeing his parents pushing a luggage cart as they walked out of the exit channel.

Mother Zhao saw him from afar and clearly quickened her pace. Upon reaching him, she felt him from head to toe—arms, shoulders, back—and only after confirming that every place she could touch was uninjured did she let out a sigh of relief.

"Mom, I'm fine. The person in the video didn't even touch the corner of my clothes."

Zhao Yang said, smiling at Mother Zhao.

"I watched that video so many times; that knife was way too close to you."

Mother Zhao's voice sounded a bit tight, and she turned her head to wipe the corner of her eyes.

Father Zhao didn't say anything from the side; he simply picked up the luggage and followed behind the mother and son as they walked out.

Only after getting into the car did Father Zhao speak.

"Your mother didn't sleep well at all last night; she kept fretting about you."

"Then, once you're home later, you two should get some rest!"

After returning to the villa, Mother Zhao walked around the living room, checked everything from the kitchen stove to the washing machine on the balcony, and then pushed open the bedroom door to look at the bed. Only after confirming that the conditions where Zhao Yang lived were indeed good did she sit down on the sofa.

Father Zhao stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room for a while, watching the fountain on the lake outside.

"This place of yours is quite serene; it's much quieter than that old residential area in Changcheng. It's really nice!"

Father Zhao remarked with emotion.

"If you like it, you can stay here for a while, or you can even live in Yanjing; there are enough rooms anyway."

Zhao Yang said, smiling at Father Zhao.

"Alright! It just so happens that I can cook you a few more meals during this time and help you build up your strength."

Mother Zhao nodded and agreed.

"Are there any pork ribs in the fridge?"

"Yes!"

Zhao Yang gave a quick instruction not to go into the basement, but other than that, he didn't give any special instructions.

He didn't mention the quantum computer in the basement to his parents either; after all, explaining it would require a whole lot of talk.

Fortunately, his parents' nature had always been not to interfere with his work.
