40: Chapter 40 Shifting the Blame East: Xia Jin's Trap

Xia Jin slowly stood up, his gaze fixed on the faintly visible city in the distance.

According to intelligence, Elder Liu Yan, the Fourth Elder of the Wusheng Sect, would return to his Family to rest for a few days every three months, and his Family was located in 'Lingtian City', less than ten miles from here.

Now, the timing was perfect; Elder Liu Yan himself was in Lingtian City.

"Excellent, everything is going according to my plan! Next, I must find a way to lure those from the Yuheng Sect into Lingtian City!"

Xia Jin put on a bronze mask and began walking slowly toward Lingtian City.

He dared not walk too fast, fearing that the people from the Yuheng Sect would not be able to keep up with him. However, he did not know that at the moment the Personal Disciple jade token of the Yuheng Sect was crushed, a unique scented powder would stain his body.

Sure enough, before he had walked even three miles, a powerful palm wind struck directly toward him.

"Hmm!?" Xia Jin suddenly frowned and shifted dozens of meters to the right in a single step. The three trees, each over ten zhang tall, where he had originally stood, snapped instantly.

"So it was you who killed my Yuheng Sect's Young Master Lin Xiao!"

An emaciated old man with white hair and beard landed directly in front of Xia Jin, his eyes filled with killing intent.

"An Elder from the Yuheng Sect? You say I killed your nephew? Old ghost, don't go around falsely accusing people!" Xia Jin glanced at the token at the man's waist and sneered.

"Falsely accusing? You probably don't know that once our Yuheng Sect's Personal Disciple token is crushed, a unique scent will cling to the culprit's body." As the Third Elder of the Yuheng Sect spoke, he raised his right hand, preparing to strike.

"A scent!?" Xia Jin twitched his nose slightly and indeed smelled a faint odor, like the scent of blood mixed with floral fragrance.

"Hmph! Even if that's the case, so what? Did you see me kill your nephew with your own eyes? I just happened to pick up that jade pendant." Xia Jin scoffed and turned to leave.

"Sharp-tongued brat! Once I capture you and interrogate you properly, I will know the truth!" Seeing that Xia Jin didn't take him seriously at all, the Third Elder vanished from his spot. His right hand formed a claw, and he lunged directly at Xia Jin's shoulder blade.

"Hmph! I was wondering how to lure you to Lingtian City, and now, it was effortless!" Seeing that his pursuer was taking the bait, Xia Jin felt a surge of joy.

He charged directly toward Lingtian City.

"How is this guy so fast!" The Third Elder was stunned as he watched Xia Jin pull a distance of over ten zhang away from him in an instant.

But he had no time to think and pursued him with all his might.

Given their speed, it took only ten breaths of time for Xia Jin to arrive directly in front of the residence of Elder Liu Yan, the Fourth Elder of the Wusheng Sect.

"Hehehe, this is the place!" Xia Jin glanced at the plaque hanging above the gate, which read 'Liu Residence', and slipped inside.

Merely three breaths after he entered, the Third Elder of the Yuheng Sect arrived at the scene.

"Hmph! Do you think you can hide from me just by ducking inside?"

"Scoundrel of the Wusheng Sect! Get out here!" The Third Elder's Aura at the Fifth Stage of the Xiaoyao Heavenly Realm erupted without reservation. With a roar, he caused cracks to appear on the gate of the Liu Residence, and the small vendors on the street felt a tightness in their chests and hurriedly scattered.

After a few breaths, seeing there was still no movement, the Third Elder's expression turned icy cold.

"Bastard, you dare to ignore me? Then everyone in this residence must die!!"

He took a deep breath and struck out with his right palm through the air.

In an instant, a terrifying palm wind smashed the gate of the Liu Residence, and even the surrounding walls for dozens of meters collapsed in response!

The Third Elder sneered and walked inside. But soon, he was dumbfounded.

He saw a set of Wusheng Sect Disciple robes, stained with the unique scent of the Yuheng Sect, discarded casually beside a crooked tree.

"Bastard!!" He erupted in rage and attacked.

"Boom—!!!"

An instant, earth-shaking roar filled the air.

The pavilions and towers within the Liu Residence collapsed like paper under his palm, and the rockeries and gardens were instantly pulverized into dust.

Dust billowed into the sky, and screams and wails echoed everywhere.

Most of the Liu Residence had become ruins; countless direct descendants and servants of Elder Liu Yan, the Fourth Elder of the Wusheng Sect, died on the spot, turning the ground into a river of blood.

Meanwhile, in a private room at the "Ningxiang Tower" just two streets away from the Liu Residence, Elder Liu Yan, the Fourth Elder of the Wusheng Sect, was surrounded by women.

The sudden, terrifying tremors and explosions caused the wine cup in his hand to pause.

Elder Liu Yan's expression changed; he pushed away the women in his arms, stood up abruptly, and rushed to the window.

He saw rolling smoke and flickering flames in the direction of the Liu Residence, which made his heart race with terror.

"Not good!" Without even having time to put on his outer robe, he rushed out with his muscular upper body bare, shattering the window and transforming into a streak of light as he charged toward his residence.

Within a few breaths, he appeared at the now-ruined Liu Residence. The tragic scene before him made his head buzz, as if it were about to explode.

He looked up abruptly, staring fixedly at the figure in front of him.

"Yue Qianfeng! You old scoundrel!" Elder Liu Yan's eyes instantly filled with bloodshot veins, and violent killing intent soared into the sky. "You dare to break into my Wusheng Sect's territory and slaughter my Liu Family members!"

Yue Qianfeng looked at Elder Liu Yan before him and was also stunned.

He never expected that the person rushing out would be Elder Liu Yan, the Fourth Elder of the Wusheng Sect, whom he had fought before!

"Damn it!" Yue Qianfeng's heart sank.

He vaguely realized that he had likely fallen into a trap!

That person had very likely lured him here on purpose!

"Wait! This is a trick, it's a misunderstanding!" Yue Qianfeng, the Third Elder of the Yuheng Sect, hurriedly shouted, trying to explain.

"A misunderstanding? Hahahaha!" Elder Liu Yan roared toward the sky, gritting his teeth tightly. "So many of my Liu Family have died, and you tell me it's a misunderstanding? Yue Qianfeng! Today, I will make you pay in blood and bury you with my clan members!"

He roared the last word, "bury", with all his might, his voice shaking the entire city!

Countless commoners in Lingtian City were alarmed, all looking up toward the direction of the Liu Family, with discussions breaking out everywhere.

"That voice, it sounds like Elder Liu Yan of the Wusheng Sect!"

"What on earth happened to the Liu Family?!"

"Something big has happened!"

"Old thief, pay with your life!" Elder Liu Yan roared, his Aura at the Fourth Stage of the Xiaoyao Heavenly Realm erupting, and he lunged directly at Yue Qianfeng!

Yue Qianfeng's face turned livid. He knew that saying anything now would be useless; Elder Liu Yan had gone completely insane.

Although his Realm was one stage higher, he was deep within the territory of the Wusheng Sect. If he were entangled here, the consequences would be unimaginable.

"I must not linger in battle!" Yue Qianfeng made a prompt decision. Facing the charging Elder Liu Yan, he gathered green light in his right palm and struck back fiercely.

"Bang!!!"

Their palms collided like a thunderclap. Elder Liu Yan was knocked back dozens of steps, his Qi roiling.

Taking advantage of this gap, Yue Qianfeng did not hesitate; he transformed into a streak of green light and shot toward the outskirts of Lingtian City!

"Where are you running!" Elder Liu Yan forcibly suppressed his roiling Qi, his eyes blood-red, and pursued him regardless of the cost.

The two figures instantly disappeared outside Lingtian City.

At that moment, Xia Jin slowly emerged from the shadows of a secluded alley in the city. Watching the direction where the two had disappeared, a smile of success appeared on his face.
