Chapter 177: Coming for Him
"Then tell me the truth, did you really donate over nine million to our alma mater in my name?"
"Why would I lie to you? Here, look." Zheng Qian opened the transaction notification he had just received.
Zheng Qian had swiped his card twice for the school: one transaction was for 9,999,999 yuan, and the other was for 1 yuan.
After looking at the two transaction records, Lu Shanshan was at a loss for words.
What was his goal in donating so much money to their alma mater in her name?
"Why did you do this?"
Before Zheng Qian could answer, Song Qingli ran over.
"Senior Zheng!"
"Why did you walk away so fast? I could barely catch up with you."
"These are the gifts the school prepared for you, one for each of you. Please keep them safe."
Song Qingli was holding two exquisite gift bags, each containing a letter of thanks and a school souvenir.
"Oh, right, Senior Zheng, Senior Sister Lu, I printed out the photo of you with the school leaders just now. A few of the leaders have signed the back."
"Let me add you on WeChat, Senior Zheng. I'll send you the digital copy as well."
Just after the donation, several key school leaders had taken a photo with Zheng Qian. Zheng Qian and Lu Shanshan had stood right in the center, in the C-position.
Upon receiving the photo, Lu Shanshan knew that she could no longer distance herself from Zheng Qian.
The reputation was established, and the photo had been taken. She couldn't very well claim at this point that she and Zheng Qian hadn't actually made a joint donation.
Today's donation and this photo would both be recorded in the school's history.
Earlier, Lu Shanshan hadn't found a chance to explain to Song Qingli. Now she had the chance, but explaining it now would make her look hypocritical, like trying to have her cake and eat it too.
Zheng Qian and Song Qingli added each other on WeChat.
"Not bad, not bad. Xiao Li's photography skills are pretty good."
In both the digital and printed photos, Zheng Qian looked very handsome.
"Oh, not at all. I'm just a social media photographer, you flatter me."
Right at that moment.
Cui Jinghui approached, leading a large group of people armed with steel pipes and sharp weapons, surrounding them.
"Trouble!" Seeing this, Duan Qiran immediately brought his men over to help Zheng Qian.
"Zheng Qian, don't even think about running, kid!" Cui Jinghui said, extremely arrogant.
Cui Jinghui had called over a dozen people today, all of whom were skilled fighters under his father's command.
"What is the meaning of this?" Zheng Qian didn't quite understand.
"What's the meaning? Are you stupid? Have you forgotten what happened at the Red Rose?"
"Pretending to have amnesia now? Too late!"
Behind Cui Jinghui were many of their classmates, including those few wealthy second-generation heirs, newly rich land-requisitioned tycoons, and low-level civil servants.
They had all followed Cui Jinghui just to watch the drama unfold.
Seeing two groups of people confronting each other, the college students on campus gathered around to watch the show.
"Damn, isn't that Cui Jinghui?"
"Why is he getting into a fight with someone?"
"Shh, keep quiet! There's a good show starting!"
Some even recognized that Zheng Qian was actually the guy who beat up Cui Jinghui that night.
"I was wondering why Senior Zheng looked so familiar. So he's the boss who beat up Cui Jinghui that night!"
"And today they're fighting again on our campus?"
Soon, a large crowd gathered around, and some even pulled out their phones to take photos and record videos.
"You brought just this handful of people to cause trouble? If you know what's good for you, get the hell out of here!" Duan Qiran barked angrily upon seeing them.
"Get lost? Heh, that night you relied on your numbers, but now you're chickening out?" Hearing this, Cui Jinghui assumed Duan Qiran was scared and spoke arrogantly.
While Cui Jinghui's side might have had more people, it only amounted to a dozen or so.
But Duan Qiran's group consisted of seven or eight men, all from the provincial Chinese Kickboxing team. Any one of them could easily take on five opponents at once.
Combined, Cui Jinghui's crew wasn't even enough to give Duan Qiran and his men a proper warm-up.
"Senior Cui, this is a school campus. Please don't cause trouble here, alright? Think of the bad influence this has on the students!" Seeing this, Song Qingli stepped forward to persuade him.
She knew of Cui Jinghui. Back when she was a student, she had heard plenty of stories about him getting into fights. But she never expected that he would try to cause trouble today, and from the looks of it, he was targeting Zheng Qian.
"No matter what conflict you have with Senior Zheng, you can sit down and resolve it properly. As far as I know, Senior Cui and Senior Zheng were even classmates, right? For the sake of our alma mater, please don't make trouble here."
"Me, causing trouble? Hahaha!" Cui Jinghui threw his head back and laughed.
"I donated so much money to you people, yet you didn't even invite me to be an outstanding alumnus. Instead, you invited a fraud, and now you want me to show respect to our alma mater? Respect my foot!"
"Exactly! Our Jinghui donated 500,000 yuan and couldn't even be an outstanding alumnus. Why should a packaged fraud like him be one?" Yu Nana added indignantly from the side.
"Inviting a fraud?" Song Qingli was dumbfounded. "Senior Cui, you might have misunderstood..."
"And what Qianhe Group? Give me a break! I'd really like to ask you, Zheng Qian, how much did you pay to hire these people? Must be at least one or two thousand a day, right? Wearing sunglasses and earpieces, looking all intimidating—you really spent a fortune, didn't you?"
"Brothers, there's no need to take a beating for a few hundred bucks. Just back off, and once we handle Zheng Qian and that guy surnamed Duan, I'll pay you double!"
"Teacher Song, you'd better stay back. Fists and feet have no eyes, and I wouldn't want to ruin that drop-dead gorgeous face of yours."
Cui Jinghui's arrogance was through the roof.
In his eyes, this was his moment of vindication.
"You guys over there with the phones, make sure you record this well! Watch how I teach him a lesson!"
Sensing that things were going south, Lu Shanshan quickly stepped forward. She knew Cui Jinghui's temper, and she also knew that Zheng Qian had genuinely donated ten million to their alma mater.
Lu Shanshan knew that Cui Jinghui was holding a grudge, but even if he wanted to save face, there was no need to do it on an occasion like this, with so many of their juniors watching.
"Xingyu, hurry up and talk some sense into Jinghui." Lu Shanshan rushed over to Tang Xingyu's side and said urgently.
Unexpectedly, Tang Xingyu looked completely indifferent. "Shanshan, stand back. I don't want you getting hurt in a moment."
What?
Tang Xingyu actually supported Cui Jinghui fighting here?
She had absolutely no relationship with Zheng Qian!
There was a massive misunderstanding here!
The reason Tang Xingyu had remained unfazed at the Red Rose wasn't entirely due to his family background.
He had practiced Taekwondo since childhood and was now a second-degree black belt. With his tall and slender build, taking on three opponents at once was no problem at all.
Back at the Red Rose, they had faced twenty to thirty people. The other side had an absolute advantage, so even if he had fought, he wouldn't have gained any upper hand.
Things were different now. Zheng Qian dragging Lu Shanshan into a joint donation was a direct provocation aimed at him.
Cui Jinghui had brought over a dozen people today, all skilled fighters. On Zheng Qian's side, only the guy surnamed Duan seemed like he could fight, while the rest were just for show.
With his own intervention added to the mix, they would definitely be able to pin the opponents down.
"Senior Zheng, I'll help hold these people off. You should run!"
Run?
Zheng Qian burst out laughing.
He didn't say anything, only giving Song Qingli a reassuring look.
"I can't believe you can still laugh. Get him!"
