Chapter 43: I'm a slow starter
Throughout the journey, Deng Shuxin remained silent and did not communicate much with Zheng Qian.
Deng Shuxin's home was not far from the hospital, only about a ten-minute drive.
Upon arriving home, Deng Shuxin found a pair of slippers for Zheng Qian to change into.
The house was not large, only about 140 square meters, but it was kept very clean and tidy, with every item in perfect order.
The decor could not be called luxurious, nor was it simple; the layout and colors were very well-thought-out and showed great taste.
This cozy little home was where the family of three—Deng Zhiming, Deng Yuqing, and Deng Shuxin—lived.
"Zheng Qian, thank you."
"Hey, don't be so polite. After all, you are my subordinate."
"This house is the mortgage my father spent half his life paying off. If he knew that we two sisters chose to sell the house for his medical expenses, he would definitely pull out his own oxygen tube."
Zheng Qian did not speak, silently nodding. He had long anticipated that Deng Zhiming would be this kind of person.
"Then... go take a shower. I'll go find you some clothes and tidy up."
"Um... the air conditioning is on, and I've tidied up the room for you. It's still a bit messy, but please make do."
Zheng Qian finally took a careful look at Deng Shuxin's bedroom.
The entire room was blue and pink, well-organized and kept very tidy, with several cartoon dolls on the bed. The whole room was full of girlish, cherry-blossom vibes.
Unexpectedly, Deng Shuxin, who stood taller than him when they stood side by side, had such a young mental age; everything was pink.
"It's quite nice." Zheng Qian nodded and lay directly on the bed.
It was a soft, large bed, very comfortable.
Though Zheng Qian was young, his lumbar spine was already showing signs of stiffness, and his shoulders ached immensely with the slightest pressure—clearly the result of sitting in an office for too long and overworking.
To have achieved so much at his age, he had clearly endured hardships others could not bear and suffered trials others could not. He was not a useless, spoiled rich second generation; in many ways, he was more like a self-made first-generation wealthy person.
The wealth a rich second generation can control is usually tens of thousands or a hundred thousand; to mobilize any more funds, they would certainly have to report to their family and create some sort of justification.
But Zheng Qian's way of spending money was clearly not like that.
Deng Shuxin felt that Zheng Qian was not the kind of person Xia Xixi had described; she might have misunderstood Zheng Qian.
"How is it? Do you feel a bit more comfortable?"
The only response Deng Shuxin received was Zheng Qian's snoring.
He had fallen asleep so quickly.
It seemed Zheng Qian was exhausted to a certain degree.
Deng Shuxin helped cover Zheng Qian with the quilt and then quietly left the room.
