Chapter 55: Meeting a Client

After arriving at the company, Zheng Qian asked Deng Yuqing to wait downstairs for a while, then took Deng Shuxin to the Human Resources Department.

With a Vice President leading the way, everything went quickly; it was settled in two or three minutes. After her things were moved down, he had Deng Yuqing drive her away.

Zheng Qian hadn't been sitting in his office for even half an hour when Xia Xixi knocked on the door and walked in.

"What is it?"

"President Zheng, I think we need to talk."

Zheng Qian raised his eyelids, glanced at her, then immediately closed the computer game and asked, "Oh? What do you want to talk to me about?"

Xia Xixi locked the door behind her, walked up to Zheng Qian, placed her hands on the desk with her palms facing away, and leaned in at an angle. She spoke with a righteous tone, "I can't interfere with the matters between you and Boss Liu, but please don't drag Deng Shuxin into this. Do you know she has already been forced to resign by you two?"

The weather was quite hot, and Xia Xixi was wearing very little today—a simple tight-fitting skirt. Combined with her accusatory pose, it put Zheng Qian at an 'angel's angle.' He had an unobstructed view of everything, and he didn't hear a single word she said.

Deng Shuxin was the one he had taken to the HR department to process her resignation, so how could he not know?

However, Xia Xixi found out fast enough. It hadn't even been half an hour, and she already knew about it.

Seeing her furious expression and noting that his Favorability had dropped by 15 points, it was clear she had misunderstood.

Xia Xixi likely thought that Deng Shuxin resigned because of the situation between him and Liu Shiqi.

"You knew? If you knew, how can you still look so relaxed? Do you not have a shred of guilt?"

Nonsense. Why should Zheng Qian feel guilty? What did he have to apologize to Deng Shuxin for?

"Why should I feel guilty?" Zheng Qian countered with a question.

Xia Xixi was so angered by Zheng Qian that she couldn't say a word.

Xia Xixi believed that the conflict between Zheng Qian and Liu Shiqi shouldn't have affected Deng Shuxin. She was such a hard-working and diligent employee; just because of the infighting between the two bosses, she was forced to resign and seek another path. Wasn't that irresponsible?

"Why didn't you go to Liu Shiqi to say these things instead of coming to me?"

"I..."

"Do you think I'm easier to talk to? Are you asking me to invite Deng Shuxin back?" Zheng Qian threw out the question in his mind.

"No, I just think that compared to Liu Shiqi, you are more capable of being a good boss and a good superior."

"So that's it."

Zheng Qian understood.

However, he didn't plan to tell Xia Xixi about funding Deng Shuxin to open a coffee shop. Since she had misunderstood, let her keep misunderstanding; the fewer people in the company who knew about this, the better.

"Anything else?"

"Yes, President Chen would like you to go to his office. He says there's something he wants to discuss with you."

Zheng Qian narrowed his eyes. It wouldn't still be about Deng Shuxin, would it?

After leaving his office, Zheng Qian found Chen Weiqiang.

Besides Chen Weiqiang, there was another familiar person in his office.

Manager Li Tao.

Manager Li Tao hadn't appeared at the company for the past few days because he had been sent out by Chen Weiqiang to negotiate business. Today was the first time Zheng Qian had met Manager Li Tao at the company.

However, Zheng Qian didn't intend to be overly polite with Manager Li Tao at the company; instead, he interacted with him based on their professional roles.

In private, anything goes, but in the company, their positions were different. Manager Li Tao was the Business Manager, and Zheng Qian was the Vice President. If he were fooling around all day, no one would take him seriously as a Vice President.

"President Zheng is here, please sit down." Chen Weiqiang poured a cup of tea for Zheng Qian.

After sitting down, Zheng Qian first handed a cigarette to Manager Li Tao and Chen Weiqiang each.

"Manager Li Tao, how has the business negotiation been going outside these past two days?" Zheng Qian wasn't putting on airs, but this was the company.

Manager Li Tao naturally understood what was going on: "It's going well, quite smoothly."

"I said it before; with Manager Li Tao coming to work for me, he would at least increase the company's orders by 40%. He is now a pillar of our company."

"In just a few days, he has secured a long-term order worth 20 million."

"President Chen, you flatter me. This is all part of my job."

After a few simple pleasantries, the three of them got to the point.

"President Zheng, the reason I asked you to come is not for anything else, but because there is a client in the mainland. Would you like to try negotiating with them?"

The 'anything else' that Chen Weiqiang referred to was naturally about Deng Shuxin, but he didn't mention a word of it.

Zheng Qian's position in the company was Vice President, responsible for a portion of the mainland business. However, Chen Weiqiang hadn't given a specific boundary for this portion.

In other words, if Chen Weiqiang said you were responsible, you were responsible; if he said it wasn't within your scope of duty, there was nothing you could do about it.

But Zheng Qian had paid money to buy a ticket into the high-end business world from Chen Weiqiang, so he naturally wasn't just here to clock in every day and play games in his office. Zheng Qian's goal was to improve himself.

Chen Weiqiang had previously told Zheng Qian that he would introduce all the clients and friends he knew to Zheng Qian, but so far, there was only Boss Han. As for clients, Chen Weiqiang hadn't let Zheng Qian make contact; Natasha had been brought into the company by Zheng Qian by pure accident.

"Sure, what kind of client?" Zheng Qian agreed immediately.

"A steel client who wants to use our company for mainland transportation. Have you negotiated with anyone before?"

Zheng Qian nodded. When he was working as a transportation broker, he had actually negotiated with people and understood some of the rules of business negotiation.

But he really hadn't negotiated with a client like this before.

"How about this? I'll have Manager Li Tao accompany you. Try your best to secure this client."

Chen Weiqiang briefly introduced the client's information and the company's background, and then Zheng Qian and Manager Li Tao set off together.

The company Zheng Qian was going to today was Jinxiu Group, a company that mainly processed and produced steel coils, threaded steel, and rebar. They also dealt in timber. It was an old local company in Yebai; although it wasn't large in scale, it had been steady and solid for decades.

"President Zheng, you're really something. You're already driving a Rolls-Royce?"

"Haha, it's nothing special."

"Come on, I'll be your driver. Let me get a taste of driving a Rolls-Royce."

In private, the two of them were naturally friendly and didn't have too many workplace constraints. Manager Li Tao even took the initiative to sit in the driver's seat, wanting to experience what it felt like to drive a Rolls-Royce.
