145: Chapter 145 The Great Hub of the Far East
Far East Grand Hub.
This is the heart of the wasteland world, one of the most important intersections.
Super C District, I District, J District, K District... and more than a dozen other super districts representing major eastern territories would eventually converge in this massive hub area.
At this moment, on a windswept highway on the edge of the Far East Grand Hub.
A battered convoy consisting of only five off-road vehicles was fleeing at full speed.
Above each vehicle hovered a bright red faction marker, similar to a game ID—District C.
The vehicles were filled with rare ores that had just been desperately mined from the hub's high-risk areas.
"Quick! Floor it!"
"Brothers! Hang in there! Don't give up!"
Inside the lead off-road vehicle, the team captain, Chu Tian, was covered in blood, shouting hoarsely into the communicator.
"Once we pass the fog ahead, we'll be in our safe Service Area!"
"As long as we rush in, they won't dare to fire!"
However, just as he finished speaking.
"Boom!"
A deafening cannon blast came from behind.
The off-road vehicle at the very back of the line had its right rear wheel hit precisely by an armor-piercing shell; the entire vehicle suddenly lost control and spun violently on the highway.
"Lao Zhao!" Chu Tian shouted, his eyes nearly bursting from their sockets.
"Damn it!"
From the communicator came Lao Zhao's angry but incredibly resolute voice.
"Captain, my wheels are shot, and the engine is leaking oil. I can't get away."
Lao Zhao slammed on the brakes, positioning the vehicle sideways across the narrow highway, blocking the pursuers behind.
"You guys take the ore and go!"
Lao Zhao's voice carried a heroic air of someone prepared for death.
"Bring these high-energy ores back to our District C camp!"
"You are the hope for our Dragon Country players to gain a foothold in this hub!"
"Lao Zhao!"
The companions in the other three vehicles had bloodshot eyes, tears streaming down their faces.
"Brothers! Don't worry about me! For the Dragon Country, go!!!"
Lao Zhao roared and directly detonated the high explosives stored in the vehicle.
"Boom—!!!"
A massive fireball rose into the sky, and the shockwave from the explosion forced the pursuing convoy behind to a halt for over ten seconds.
And behind that billowing thick smoke.
A massive pursuit convoy consisting of hundreds of heavily armed combat vehicles slowly pressed forward.
Above every combat vehicle, a bright red faction marker hovered high.
District J!
District K!
Like the glaring Red Names representing hostile forces in a game, they were full of oppressive power.
On the lead heavy armored vehicle.
A man from District J with a toothbrush mustache and a sinister face lowered his binoculars with a cold smile.
"Want to be a hero and cover the retreat?"
Matsushita Kucha drew the katana at his waist, his eyes full of cruel mockery.
"Baka-yaro!"
"In the Far East Grand Hub, not a single one of these District C swine will escape!"
From a nearby District K combat vehicle, an arrogant blond man leaned out.
"Matsushita-kun is right!"
The blond man laughed arrogantly.
"Hahahaha... Aishiba!"
"The ore on these District C hillbillies' vehicles is the property of our Great District K players!"
"Shiba! Crush them! Seize all the supplies!"
Accompanied by the extremely arrogant laughter of the District J and District K players.
Hundreds of allied combat vehicles, like wolves that had caught the scent of blood, slammed on their accelerators in a frantic pursuit.
Meanwhile, in the fleeing District C squad ahead.
To cover the lead vehicle transporting the ore, tragic scenes continued to unfold.
"Captain, I'm out of ammo! I'll cover the rear!"
"Captain, take good care of my sister back at the camp. I'm going to fight these bastards!"
"Captain... survive!"
"Carry our share... and survive!"
The fourth vehicle turned back and crashed into the enemy formation—explosion!
The third vehicle stopped sideways at an intersection—explosion!
The second vehicle burst into flames and resolutely charged at an enemy heavy truck!
One vehicle after another chose to stay behind and face death.
Every explosion bought precious escape time for Chu Tian.
Chu Tian's eyes wept tears of blood, his teeth biting his lip until it was a bloody mess.
He floored the accelerator, pushing the off-road vehicle—loaded with his brothers' hopes—to its absolute limit.
Finally.
The fog ahead cleared.
A massive wasteland Service Area with a giant flashing neon sign appeared on the horizon.
"I'm here... brothers, I've made it!"
Chu Tian broke into tears as the vehicle, with a piercing screech of brakes, plunged into the safety zone.
The car completely stalled, and thick black smoke billowed from the hood.
Due to excessive blood loss, Chu Tian's consciousness began to blur.
He pushed open the deformed car door and stumbled to the ground.
Gasping for breath, he instinctively looked up, wanting to shout for help.
But when he struggled to open his blood-blurred eyes and saw the scene inside the Service Area.
He froze completely.
The cry for help that was at the tip of his tongue was stuck in his throat.
He didn't see any of the emaciated, poorly equipped District C refugees he had expected.
Instead.
It was a sea of red.
A vast, red iron torrent that filled every corner of the massive Service Area!
There were heavy trucks with outrageously thick armor, multiple rocket launchers, and even locomotives and mechs!
A full several hundred thousand of them!
Hundreds of thousands of armed thugs in red combat uniforms, radiating an astonishing murderous aura and terrifying pressure, were currently holding lunch boxes and beer, all turning their heads at once.
Hundreds of thousands of eyes quietly watched him, the uninvited guest.
What he found most incredible was that above every combat vehicle hovered the heart-stirring District C faction marker!
At the very center of the formation.
A Mechanical White Tiger, covered in silver armor, was lying next to a crimson red wolf heavy tank that looked like a mobile fortress, lazily licking its paws.
Chu Tian propped himself up, kneeling on the ground in a daze.
He instinctively raised a hand covered in mud and water and rubbed his eyes hard.
Then he opened them again.
The red iron ocean still existed, and even the cold glint on the tank barrels was clearly visible.
Where the hell did this red army come from?!
Chu Tian felt his world spinning, his pale lips murmuring.
"Am I dead..."
"When would District C's follow-up support ever be this many..."
"I must be dead, otherwise... how could I have such a ridiculous hallucination..."
