11: Willingness to die in battle

In the early hours of the morning, the moonlight was dim.

Military-green Falcon Helicopters flew through the continuous black mountain ranges.

On board the helicopters were seventy-eight Senior Warriors, as well as Yan Xiao and Chen Fan, two War General-level martial artists.

At this moment, the entire cabin was silent, a quiet stillness.

"Base 0231, the first batch of eighty Senior Warriors coming to support are rushing over. Please hold your ground and wait for reinforcements!"

An officer on one of the helicopters, identity unknown, tried to connect with the front line to communicate.

"Senior Warriors? No... don't come."

In his urgency, the other party actually shouted loudly: "Don't come to sacrifice yourselves in vain. There are three Mid-level Beast Generals, seven Low-level Beast Generals, and countless Soldier-level monsters here. Leave quickly... Leave!"

The voice carried a sense of determination and despair, moving even the resolute soldiers.

Surrounded by monsters, their first thought was still of their comrades coming to support them.

"I am Yan Xiao, commander of the 492nd Regiment. Please hold your ground and wait for reinforcements!"

Yan Xiao picked up the communicator for the first time, lowering his head and speaking with a cold voice: "You must hold out until reinforcements arrive. This is an order!"

"Commander Yan... don't come. These monsters are very cunning. Hidden within the horde is a High-level Beast General..."

A High-level Beast General!?

With just that one sentence, everyone fell silent, and the helicopter once again plunged into a deathly stillness.

A High-level Beast General was no longer an existence that these Senior Warriors could jointly eliminate.

Numbers were meaningless in front of a High-level Beast General.

Moreover, there were ten other Beast Generals lurking... The outcome of this support mission to Base 0231 was nothing short of... suicide!

Yan Xiao's knuckles, gripping the communicator, turned white, and his single arm trembled slightly, as if he was making a difficult decision.

Roars,

screams,

Vulcan cannons and heavy machine guns roared.

And the unseen cruelty and bloodshed here.

Monsters rampaged, comrades sacrificed.

And they could only remain silent.

Without exception, they were continuously approaching Base 0231, that terrifying battlefield surrounded by monsters.

However, no one was afraid.

"Team 0231 is still fighting..."

After a while, the last call came through, and the communication ended.

Perhaps even the brothers in the communication squad had temporarily given up on communicating, drawing their blades and joining the battlefield.

Gunshots, sounds of fighting, and collisions continued to echo outside the communicator.

Silence spread soundlessly within this small cabin.

0231... must be very lonely now!

One minute.

"0231... they should still be fighting."

Inside the helicopter's internal channel, a veteran deduced based on the sounds of combat.

"After all, they have Captain Battalion Commander Chen Chu and Major Major Yuan Ye, two War General-level martial artists!"

"Report, Xu Ruo, company commander of the 357th Regiment, requests to independently join the battle. Please approve, Commander Yan... I have a rookie brother at 0231. Just now, I think I heard his roar."

Suppressing his tears, Xu Ruo pleaded softly: "Just drop me into the edge of the battlefield, okay?"

Because of this sentence, a brief commotion occurred within the three Falcon Helicopters.

Two minutes later,

"Old Yan, Major Yuan Ye and Battalion Commander Chen Chu are our old brothers. I want to accompany them too..."

This time, it was the company commander of another Senior Warrior who spoke.

He came from the same recruit camp as Yan Xiao.

Yan Xiao's gaze swept over everyone present, his hands constantly clenching and re-clenching... He knew clearly in his heart that,

Whether it was the Jingji Garrison Headquarters or its six legions,

All the brothers had fought and bled together since before the Great Nirvana. The depth of their friendship and bonds was unimaginable to outsiders.

They had slept in bunk beds together in the recruit camp, and had once stood back-to-back against monster horde charges... "Who the hell said I'm retreating? There isn't a single coward in the Jingji Garrison's Ninth Army!"

Having suppressed it for a long time, Yan Xiao roared almost hysterically:

"Don't forget, all the warriors of Base 0231 were brought up by me! I, Yan Xiao, am half their master, half their father!"

Yan Xiao's angry roar echoed through the communicator, reverberating throughout the cabin.

For a long time, no one spoke.

"Isn't it good to die with them?"

As he spoke, Yan Xiao's trembling voice carried a hint of relief, without a trace of fear or retreat.

It was as if he was stating the most natural thing.

As an officer of the Jingji Garrison, he had also climbed his way through monster hordes to reach his current position.

Most of his comrades from the same generation had long since rested in the Heroes' Mausoleum.

He had long since come to terms with life and death.

His only two regrets were not seeing his successor appear.

And... not witnessing the prosperity of the Great Xia Nation, peaceful and stable, no longer threatened by monsters.

Not fulfilling these two wishes was indeed a great pity.

Yan Xiao adjusted his mindset and continued to order:

"Fly at full speed, to bring back our comrades, or to..."

"Die side by side!"

"Die side by side, never abandoning!"

"Die side by side, never abandoning!"

At this moment, the will to die in battle ignited within the cabin.

Although the soldiers on the three Falcon Helicopters came from different units, they had all become united in just a few minutes.

Willing to die to support their comrades!

This was the strength of the Jingji Garrison's spiritual belief.

Or rather, the bond between comrades... was too deep.

At Yan Xiao's command, the Falcon Helicopters' rotors immediately accelerated to their maximum, their buzzing roar echoing through the mountains.

In the corner of the cabin, Chen Fan, participating in support for the first time, was a little bit influenced by this emotion.

Although the deterrent power of a High-level Beast General was great, he did not give up.

Chen Fan did not have the habit of sitting idly by. He was diligently thinking of a way to break the situation.

"One High-level Beast General and ten Low-to-Mid-level Beast Generals are indeed very troublesome, but not invincible."

Chen Fan muttered in a voice only he could hear.

Suddenly, a bald man's sharp eyes appeared in his mind.

The penetrating gaze, like lightning, pierced Chen Fan, making him tremble.

"I have a way!"

A low cry was particularly clear in the silent cabin.

Swish!

Many warriors simultaneously turned their heads, their gazes fixed on Chen Fan in the corner.

Even Yan Xiao looked sideways, his gaze towards Chen Fan filled with deep meaning.

This young man, only seventeen or eighteen years old, yet harboring a heart of patriotism, would probably have to be let down this time.

Having just joined the army, he was about to participate in the most brutal battle with him.

It truly felt regrettable.

Meeting Yan Xiao's gaze, Chen Fan said word by word:

"I know the Ninefold Thunderblade, fifth level!"

After speaking, Chen Fan and Yan Xiao exchanged glances.

Everything was unspoken.

Perhaps he could contend with the High-level Beast General using the fifth level of the Ninefold Thunderblade and save these soldiers.

"To be frank, everyone, yesterday I underwent punch force and speed tests, and the results were decent."

Hmm!?

A group of martial artists turned to look at Chen Fan.

Being stared at intently by so many grown men, Chen Fan still spoke unhurriedly.

"My punch force and speed test results were above that of a Low-level War General."

"And only stronger, not weaker!"

Upon hearing this, everyone was in an uproar.

Although Chen Fan did not specify how much his strength differed from a Mid-level War General, it was clearly sufficient.

The strength of a Low-level War General combined with the amplification of the fifth level of Thunder Blade meant Chen Fan's combat power was unimaginably terrifying.

Perhaps, he had a chance to contend with that High-level Beast General.

Everyone secretly speculated about Chen Fan's strength, their heartbeats quickening... Soon, surprise, excitement... and an indescribable emotion quickly grew and spread within the cabin... Writing is not easy, please give your recommendation votes, everyone.
