50: Three glasses of wine!

In the supply base, martial artists came and went.

Chen Fan walked on the asphalt road, dressed in a black combat uniform, with a long, narrow Battle Blade scabbard on his back, containing a D6 series Blood Shadow Battle Blade.

Along the way, many martial artists frequently turned their heads to look at Chen Fan.

The reason was simple:

A special emblem on Chen Fan's shoulder indicated his unusual identity—a Advanced War General.

Similarly, Chen Fan's information had also been updated online.

Chen Fan knew this was just a title.

Currently, the power level he could unleash had already reached the Intermediate God of War standard, but killing two Intermediate Lord-Level Monsters was still a distant goal for the current Chen Fan.

He was very clear about his own capabilities.

“It seems I need to find a place to properly train and further improve my strength.”

Chen Fan muttered to himself. For him, the existence of this golden finger had greatly helped him.

In this chaotic world overrun by monsters, whoever had strength would survive and thrive.

As for the source of this strength, no one would care.

Only strength was the foundation of everything.

Because only strength could allow human civilization to continue and not be swallowed by monsters.

With this thought, Chen Fan strengthened his resolve to continue becoming stronger.

Only then could he protect everything he had.

His past life was like fleeting smoke; what Chen Fan possessed now was only the present.

“It’s time to go home and see.”

Chen Fan looked down at his protective suit and whispered softly:

“I haven’t seen Mom and Dad in a long time. I wonder if they’ll be surprised to see me like this.”

In the month he had been out, Chen Fan had experienced two beast tides, one large and one small, and was now somewhat familiar with the frequency of monster attacks.

Then, Chen Fan's gaze swept over his High-level General badge, secretly contemplating his parents' surprised expressions.

Gradually, a smile appeared on Chen Fan's lips.

Screech!

Brakes screeched, and a military-green six-wheel Hummer stopped beside Chen Fan.

A beautiful woman wearing sunglasses rolled down the window, looked at Chen Fan provocatively, and said with a smile:

“Handsome Chen, get in and chat for a bit. Our captain wants to see you.”

“Oh, it’s the Dragon Breath Squad.”

“Hmm!?”

A hint of doubt appeared in Chen Fan’s eyes. Why would the captain of the Dragon Breath Squad want to see him?

As if by a ghost’s prompting, Chen Fan got into the six-wheel Hummer.

The space inside the car was large, like a reception room.

Chen Fan sat alone on the soft sofa, looked at the beautiful woman driving, and asked:

“Miss, may I ask why your captain called for me?”

Chen Fan spoke sweetly, his gaze quickly sweeping over the woman.

She wore a light green military uniform, her waist very narrow. Even while sitting and driving, her perky buttocks were visible. Chen Fan knew this was the result of intense training.

Further up, two towering peaks appeared in Chen Fan's eyes. So big!

“Gulp!”

Chen Fan suddenly felt a bit parched, so he began to calm his mind and suppress the evil thoughts in his lower abdomen.

“Pfft! Don’t call me ‘sister,’ just call me Chu Zi.”

The woman looked back at Chen Fan, who was closing his eyes to rest, and said gently.

“Okay, Sister Chu Zi!”

About ten minutes later, the Hummer stopped in front of a quiet bar.

After getting out of the car, Chen Fan followed Chu Zi into a private room.

Pushing the door open, Chen Fan saw a few familiar faces.

Qin Xianzhen, Yan Xiao, Major Yuan Ye… three of the four people Chen Fan first met were here, excluding Battalion Commander Chen Chu.

Chen Fan’s gaze fell on a young man in the center, and his expression suddenly changed in surprise!

If he hadn't seen Commander Fu Fengxue a few days ago, Chen Fan would have thought he was him.

“Chen Fan, come, come, quickly sit down.”

Seeing Chen Fan’s arrival, Qin Xianzhen was the first to stand up, enthusiastically inviting Chen Fan to sit beside him.

“Chen Fan, let me introduce you. This is the captain of the Dragon Breath Squad, Fu Qingxi, a Advanced War General.”

“He is also Commander Fu Fengxue’s only son.”

Qin Xianzhen seemed to be an old acquaintance of Fu Qingxi, so their interaction was very casual.

“Hello, Captain Fu, I am Chen Fan.”

Facing the captain of the Dragon Breath Squad, Chen Fan felt no pressure, because Fu Qingxi always had a smile on his face, which made Chen Fan feel very comfortable.

“Brother Chen, don’t be so polite. Let’s sit and chat while we eat.”

After the five were seated, plates of precious ingredients were brought out.

Chicken, duck, fish, seafood, and even some rare ingredients were served.

At this moment, Chu Zi tactfully withdrew, closing the door behind her.

“Instructor Qin, where is Instructor Battalion Commander Chen Chu?”

Chen Fan looked at Qin Xianzhen and suddenly asked.

“Battalion Commander Chen Chu… Battalion Commander Chen Chu died in battle, sacrificing himself in this beast tide. Before he died, he didn’t forget to tell us to pass on a message to you: he owes you in this life and will repay you in the next.”

After speaking, even strong Qin Xianzhen had a misty look in his eyes.

At the same time, Fu Qingxi and the other two also lowered their heads.

“This… I see.”

Chen Fan replied, the image of that middle-aged martial artist, covered in blood and heavily wounded but refusing to leave the front line, appearing in his mind.

Battalion Commander Chen Chu, a Warrior General, always fought and led the charge, as if he considered himself a God of War martial artist.

But Chen Fan knew very well that Battalion Commander Chen Chu was privately very kind and straightforward, though not good with words.

“It’s not just him; this time, the Dragon Breath Squad also suffered nearly half casualties among its Warrior Generals.”

Qin Xianzhen spoke directly, without any reservations.

Chen Fan remained silent, and Fu Qingxi also said nothing.

Chen Fan suddenly raised his wine glass, looked at the other four, and said in a low voice:

“This glass, to our fallen brothers!!”

“To our brothers who bravely went to their deaths!!”

“May you rest in peace!!”

“Drink!!”

A full glass of wine was emptied directly, and faint gasps of cold air could be heard.

Spicy, very potent.

This was Chen Fan's first time drinking, and it left him with this feeling.

The spicy Erguotou flowed slowly down his esophagus, and Chen Fan felt his stomach burning.

As a burning sensation rose, Chen Fan's nose and eyes felt slightly sore.

At this moment, a faint fragrance of wheat bran lingered in Chen Fan's mouth, and his face began to flush slightly.

“Hahaha, I didn’t expect our General Chen to blush. You weren’t so shy when charging and killing monsters, were you?”

Perhaps the mellow wine had opened up the floodgates of conversation and emotion for these old soldiers.

Yan Xiao was the first to speak, his gaze towards Chen Fan filled with excitement and anticipation.

After all, Chen Fan was the gifted martial artist he had accidentally discovered in Monster Town and then recruited into the Ninth Army.

Step by step, he grew from a Senior Warriors to a Advanced War General, his progress so astonishingly fast it was jaw-dropping.

From start to finish, it had been no more than half a month.

“Truly a hero emerging in his youth. My eyesight was quite sharp back then, hahaha…”

“This glass, to our brother Chen Fan for earning the title of Advanced War General.”

“No, this glass of wine, I, a junior, should toast to all you seniors. If not for your selfless efforts in defending against monsters, there probably wouldn’t be a stable base city.”

“This second glass, Chen Fan toasts to you. No matter what Chen Fan becomes in the future, you are all the pioneers in resisting monsters, you are my seniors!!”

Chen Fan’s eyes were burning, his words filled with genuine emotion, without any falsehood.

At these words, everyone’s expressions became serious.

Bang!!

After a crisp clinking of glasses, another full glass of wine was downed.

“This third glass, Chen Fan, though unworthy, is willing to toast this wine to our China's Yan Huang bloodline, passed down through generations, never to be severed!!”

“The threat of monsters will eventually be completely resolved by us!!”

As he spoke, Chen Fan couldn't help but recall Luo Feng, Hong, Thunder God from the original novel of Swallowed Star... and the five Earth powerhouses—Mo Handerson, Yisite, Jia Yi... who sacrificed their souls to eliminate the Golden-Horned Beast. A deep, profound look flashed in Chen Fan's eyes.

Living in a chaotic world overrun by monsters, this was beyond his control.

But to walk alongside these heroes, Chen Fan felt deeply honored.

With this thought, Chen Fan drained the wine in his glass.

Turbid wine down the throat, grand ambitions can be fulfilled!!
