169: Chapter 169 Autobiography
After Han Jingyang finished reading Huang Jianyong's "autobiography," he tore out the page with the treasure location and burned it directly.
He had already memorized it, anyway.
Just as it finished burning, Liu Jing pushed the door open and came in: "Boss, what are you doing?"
Han Jingyang raised the notebook in his hand: "A bit of key information was missing."
"From that old man's?"
"Yeah, the treasure location."
"Is there really treasure?"
"A little bit, more or less. Huang Jianyong might not have saved much money, but he certainly had plenty of dharma instruments of all sizes. However, since the old man gave up resistance directly last night, it's clear he had already hidden the good stuff in advance."
"Then when are we going treasure hunting?"
"No rush. The things are there anyway; they won't go missing even if left for eight or ten years."
Liu Jing sat down beside Han Jingyang with a beaming smile, placing her hands on his shoulders and giving them a gentle squeeze: "Boss, looking at you, you didn't sleep all night. Get some rest; I'll massage you."
Han Jingyang nodded and casually handed the book to Liu Jing: "Someone should come this afternoon. Whether it's Bai Sixing or Zhang Zhiyang, give this to them. I won't be getting up."
"Okay."
"Right, help me order a bowl of noodles too. The beef noodles from that place in the alley diagonally across."
"You got it."
Liu Jing took the notebook and ran off to make a call to order the food.
Han Jingyang lay on the bed waiting for the food, intending to have a nice sleep after eating.
But as soon as he lay down, sleepiness washed over him, and he fell asleep.
When he woke up again, he opened his eyes to pitch darkness; he couldn't see a thing.
He rose quietly.
Someone beside him quickly turned on the light: "Boss, you're awake."
"Yeah, what time is it?"
"Past twelve."
"Oh, is there anything to eat?"
"There's self-heating hot pot and rice, as well as instant noodles, ham, and other snacks."
"Forget it, let's go out for barbecue."
"Okay," Liu Jing said as she helped Han Jingyang up, casually helping him put on his clothes. She then ran to the small bathroom to adjust the warm water and squeeze toothpaste onto his brush: "Boss, you can wash up now. Do you want to take a shower?"
"A shower would be nice."
"I'll go get a bath towel."
Han Jingyang entered the bathroom in a daze.
As the warm water poured over his head, he felt so comfortable he wanted to hum.
Taking a warm shower right after waking up felt incredibly comfortable; it made one alert without being too stimulating. Everything was just right.
After rinsing off.
Han Jingyang stretched.
So comfortable.
This is what you call living; what he lived before could only be called surviving.
Although he didn't have a big villa or a luxury car yet, this small shop was more comfortable than most so-called luxury homes.
He wouldn't trade it for any amount of money.
However, he still needed to buy a big house.
Sleeping in this small room in the shop occasionally was fine, but sleeping here every day was unbearable. Comfortable as it was, it wasn't a place to live in daily; it was too cramped.
Right, he also needed to buy one or even two more cars.
He only had one now, which had been driven away by Shi Xiaoya, so he had to take a taxi whenever he went out with Liu Jing.
Yeah, he'd go check tomorrow.
Not just cars.
He'd arrange for a house too.
It wasn't like he couldn't afford it.
He'd buy a good one.
A big one.
Just as Han Jingyang finished washing, Liu Jing pushed the door open with a bath towel.
Han Jingyang was startled and hurriedly covered himself.
Liu Jing was also blushing deeply, but she feigned nonchalance: "Boss, let me scrub your back."
"No need, no need."
"Boss, you aren't shy, are you?" Liu Jing raised an eyebrow and chuckled: "I couldn't tell. So you do know how to be shy? Why weren't you shy when you were kissing and touching that little vixen Shi Xiaoya?"
"Ahem, that's a different matter."
"What different matter?" Liu Jing pouted: "Boss, I was the first one here. Even for things like that, you have to respect the order of arrival, right?"
As she spoke, Liu Jing approached Han Jingyang with the bath towel, cornering him against the wall. She raised the towel to cover him, then stared at him with her beautiful big eyes and asked: "Boss, am I not pretty?"
"Pretty."
"Is my figure not good?"
"Good."
"My character is also solid, right?"
"Solid."
"Can I take care of a household?"
"Yes."
"Am I a good candidate?"
"Yes."
"Then why don't you choose me? Don't say you don't love me; humph, you and Shi Xiaoya can't even be called a couple in love."
Han Jingyang felt his head spinning.
What was all this about?
What was this?
Chasing him?
Forcing love?
This was forcing a perfectly good girl to become obsessed with relationship rivalries.
What a sin, what a sin.
Han Jingyang wanted to brush it off, but when he looked down and met Liu Jing's fiery yet subtly aggrieved gaze, his heart instantly softened.
This girl really hadn't had it easy.
She used to be so cheerful and lively, but ever since Shi Xiaoya arrived, she had been forced into becoming a completely different person.
Besides, for a grown woman like her to do something like this, how much courage must it have taken?
He couldn't let any woman's efforts go to waste.
Thinking this, he sighed, raised his hand to gently caress Liu Jing's fair face, slowly lowered his head, and gave her a light kiss on the forehead, saying softly: "I don't want to hurt you..."
"I know, but I'm willing."
"Why suffer for this?"
"I'm happy to."
Seeing this, Han Jingyang stopped talking, continued to lower his head, and gently captured Liu Jing's warm lips.
The moment they made contact, Liu Jing shivered as if electrocuted, then her body tensed up, she held her breath, instinctively closed her eyes, and remained motionless, allowing Han Jingyang to gently sweep over her.
It wasn't until Han Jingyang's hand wandered below her neck that she snapped back to reality, retreated a step like lightning, and gasped for air: "Just... today, just... stop here."
Han Jingyang stepped forward.
Liu Jing raised a hand to support herself against Han Jingyang's chest: "Bo, Boss, how far have you, have you gone with her?"
"Hmm?"
"Whatever step she's reached, I'll reach that same step. No faster, no slower."
Han Jingyang suddenly understood.
No wonder this little woman had changed so much; it turned out she didn't want to lose to Shi Xiaoya.
Understandable.
The first time they met, she and Shi Xiaoya had even exchanged blows; they were definitely enemies.
Yet in just a few days, Shi Xiaoya had transformed into his person—and a trusted one at that—staying right by his side.
This contrast came too fast and was too great.
The most critical thing was that Shi Xiaoya always had an alluring and seductive demeanor, and her offensive was fierce; it had only taken her a few days to make him almost fall for her.
Liu Jing saw it all and naturally took it to heart.
When there were no competitors, she naturally didn't care.
But now that Shi Xiaoya had suddenly popped up to compete with her for things, and her moves were fast and accurate, it was no wonder the sense of crisis had arrived.
Childish nature.
It was also human nature.
Things you have to fight for always taste better.
Think about the hunger marketing methods that were currently prevalent; anyone could see through this little trick, but everyone had been harvested by this marketing tactic at some point.
Right now, Han Jingyang was a unique, super-high-quality stock, and the available supply was quite limited, so naturally, people had to fight for it.
Han Jingyang sighed.
Liu Jing was still one move behind. If she had been a bit bolder and just accidentally let things happen, wouldn't she have firmly established herself over Shi Xiaoya?
Why play these games of not wanting to be a step faster or slower?
In reality, she just couldn't save face and didn't want to be laughed at by Shi Xiaoya.
The problem was, what was the use of face?
When you see something delicious, you grab a bite first; face and stuff like that aren't important at all.
Besides, was Shi Xiaoya the type of person to care about face?
Shi Xiaoya certainly wouldn't be polite to her, Liu Jing.
