390: Chapter 390 Hidden Arrows

Yang Zhixiao turned and ran.

He had experienced Zhang Dahai's entire force being wiped out overnight.

He had even witnessed Han Jingyang's prowess firsthand.

The moment he saw Han Jingyang, he turned and fled because he knew Han Jingyang's strength all too well; a man like him had no power to resist before Han Jingyang.

He wasn't even a match for the women under Han Jingyang's command.

Thus, he jumped from the second floor without hesitation and bolted toward the car parked in the backyard.

However, just as he sat in the car, a long sword pierced through the glass window and stabbed through the neck of the bodyguard in the driver's seat.

Blood sprayed out.

The bodyguard slumped over, dead.

Yang Zhixiao froze for a moment, then slowly closed his eyes.

He knew he was finished.

Falling into Han Jingyang's hands meant certain death.

He desperately wanted to escape.

But where else could he run?

He had fled from Quancheng to here, hiding and skulking all the way, with that so-called metaphysics expert Wang Tianxiang helping to erase his tracks and obscure his fate, yet he still hadn't managed to evade Han Jingyang's pursuit.

What other options were left?

Slowly turning his head, he indeed saw the figures of Han Jingyang and Yang Jinyuan.

He knew Yang Jinyuan and understood her quite well; after all, Yang Jinyuan had once been one of Zhang Dahai's people, making them former colleagues.

Because of this, he was completely in despair.

Never mind Han Jingyang—Yang Jinyuan alone could take care of him completely.

Thinking of this, he simply stopped and turned to face Han Jingyang and Yang Jinyuan.

When Han Jingyang and the other reached him, he smiled and cupped his hands in greeting. "Mr. Han's methods are truly brilliant to be able to track me here. I'm impressed, truly impressed."

Han Jingyang sized up Yang Zhixiao for a moment and nodded slightly. "I didn't find the wrong person. Yang Zhixiao, do you have any last words to leave?"

Yang Zhixiao took a deep breath. "Mr. Han, can you really not show some leniency?"

Han Jingyang sneered. "If you hadn't provoked me, I really wouldn't have been interested in your conflict with Yang Zhizhong. But unfortunately, you did the same thing Zhang Dahai did. Therefore, you must die; there is no room for negotiation."

"I don't have a single chance?"

"Even if the Heavenly King himself were here, I would kill you first before catching up with him."

"Sigh, I was clever my whole life but foolish for one moment. I considered everything before taking action, except for how sensitive you are, Mr. Han."

"Sensitive? Perhaps to you people in the underworld, parents and friends mean nothing, but I am different. I killed Zhang Dahai to tell people like you one thing: you can come at me, but if you touch my family, there is only one outcome—death. I will retaliate against your methods a thousandfold. So..."

As Han Jingyang spoke, his gaze grew cold. He stared at Yang Zhixiao and said chillingly, "So, Yang Zhixiao, killing you is just the beginning. The fate of Zhang Dahai's family will be the fate of yours. If I move quickly, you might even have a chance to catch up with Zhang Dahai's family. I imagine you should be quite happy; after all, Zhang Dahai was your boss."

With that, he waved his hand.

Yang Jinyuan, her face cold, raised her blade and charged straight at Yang Zhixiao.

Yang Zhixiao's expression suddenly changed, and he fell to his knees with a thud. "Mr. Han, I know I was wrong! I beg you, please spare my daughter! She's only three years old and knows nothing. I beg you, all the faults are mine; I'll take any punishment. But she is truly innocent. Please, have mercy..."

Yang Jinyuan's brow furrowed slightly, and she looked back at Han Jingyang.

Han Jingyang ignored Yang Zhixiao completely, instead rebuking Yang Jinyuan: "Why are you hesitating? What's there to hesitate about when dealing with such a heinous bastard? Don't waste your compassion on someone like this. Also, never believe a single word out of such a person's mouth, even when they are at death's door."

After saying that, he shouted low, "Do it!"

Yang Jinyuan stiffened and swung her blade down.

At the same time, the weeping Yang Zhixiao flicked his wrist, and three pitch-black crossbow bolts shot out from behind him, heading straight for Yang Jinyuan's chest.

The bolts were only as long as chopsticks, but they were entirely black, heavy, and sharp. The pointed triangular tips looked as though they could pierce any solid armor in the world, and they were lined with two rows of sharp barbs. Furthermore, they had a bluish tint, clearly indicating they were poisoned.

Not only that, the initial velocity of the three bolts far exceeded that of ordinary crossbows, reaching Yang Jinyuan in an instant, as if they had teleported.

This was very abnormal.

Because no matter how powerful a crossbow was, the bolts it fired had a limit, and their initial velocity could hardly compare to that of a firearm's bullet.

But the initial velocity of these three bolts exceeded that of general firearms.

Witnessing this scene, Han Jingyang was secretly horrified.

At such close range, probably even Tian Chunming couldn't have dodged them.

There was no other way but to take the hit head-on.

The thought had just arisen, and before he could even warn her, the three bolts had already solidly struck Yang Jinyuan's chest.

Seeing this, Yang Zhixiao was overjoyed. He turned and ran, laughing loudly as he did: "Han Jingyang, let me teach you a lesson: never underestimate anyone when traveling the world. You're lucky today, otherwise... Hahaha, take your time saving her. Your methods are brilliant, maybe you can still save her life. I won't wait for you, but I will definitely be back. Han Jingyang, I'll settle the score with you then!"

Han Jingyang snorted.

He was indeed quite angry.

He clearly held the absolute upper hand and initiative, yet things had turned out like this.

A classic case of unnecessary complications.

If he had known, he would have just gone for the kill directly; why bother with so much nonsense?

Villains die because they talk too much.

The same goes for the protagonists.

From now on, talk less whenever possible.

He had to learn his lesson.

But, he thinks he can run?

Han Jingyang waved his hand, and Chaotian Temple and the Bridal Gown Woman chased after him simultaneously.

Then he quickly walked to Yang Jinyuan's side, knelt down to check the situation, and breathed a sigh of relief.

It was alright; the problem wasn't big.

Although the three bolts had solidly hit the long-legged beauty, they hadn't broken through her defense.

Pulling back Yang Jinyuan's collar, he took out the small defensive prop he had given her earlier. It was completely shattered, with only a silk cord still hanging around her neck.

What a pity.

Such a good defensive item—once one broke, there was one less. The value of each one could not be measured in cash; these were life-saving treasures, equivalent to one or even several lives.

Yang Jinyuan looked down at her chest in shock, then suddenly slumped weakly into Han Jingyang's arms, thanking him softly: "Boss, I'm sorry, I broke the precious dharma instrument you gave me. I, I..."

As the long-legged beauty spoke, she actually started to shed tears.

It made sense; this was a life-saving dharma instrument, worth a fortune—or rather, a priceless treasure that wouldn't be traded for any amount of money. If those wealthy people who faced constant danger, or even foreign warlords and leaders, knew about it, they would surely pay any price to buy a few. In critical moments, saving one's life was more important than any amount of property or power.

Therefore, after breaking such an extremely precious dharma instrument, Yang Jinyuan's first reaction was guilt and fear.

Han Jingyang, however, smiled and patted Yang Jinyuan's shoulder, helping the long-legged beauty up. He said with a light laugh, "It's just a dharma instrument. No matter how precious it is, it's not as valuable as a living person like you. Besides, the purpose of this kind of dharma instrument is to save lives, not to be enshrined as a decoration. Using it here was using it for its proper purpose."

"But..."

"No more 'buts.' As long as you're alive, that's better than anything. If you're really that embarrassed, then... how about marrying me to repay the favor?"
