21: Chapter 21 Fated Father and Son
Sun Fuchang was completely oblivious to the reaction regarding the vase.
Yet, in the next second, he suddenly slapped his forehead and muttered, "Something isn't right. I need to check this thoroughly. I can't spend my whole life being cautious only to stumble in my old age."
After speaking, he stood up and said to Han Jingyang, "Brother, it's noon. Let's have lunch first and talk after."
Han Jingyang waved his hand, "You still have plenty to do. Treat me to a big meal once you've finished this busy spell."
Sun Fuchang was an old fox. Upon hearing this, he immediately looked back, deep in thought, at the Yuhuchun vase standing quietly on the stool. "Could it be..."
He cut himself off, then firmly added, "A big meal is a big meal, but lunch is lunch. It's almost twelve o'clock; how could I let you leave on an empty stomach? If word got out, people would laugh at me, Sun Fuchang, for not knowing how to treat a guest. Come, come, try your sister-in-law's cooking."
As he spoke, he dragged Han Jingyang into the living room, brooking no argument.
They had barely sat down and hadn't even poured a cup of tea when someone opened the door and walked in. It was a sturdy man in his thirties, his muscles bulging, yet he was wearing a helmet, knee pads, and leather boots. He entered, grunted a muffled "Dad," and immediately asked, "Where's Mom?"
Sun Fuchang's face instantly darkened. "Don't you see we have a guest?"
He then apologized to Han Jingyang, "Little Han, this is my good-for-nothing son, Sun Xiaoliang. He's been spoiled rotten by his mother. Please don't mind him."
Sun Xiaoliang took off his helmet, glanced at Han Jingyang, and nodded slightly. "Are you also into flipping antiques? Let me tell you, don't get mixed up with my old man. There's no future in it. He's been running this shop for so many years, busy every single day, yet never sees any money. It's what you'd call 'all work and no pay.'"
Han Jingyang smiled.
This father and son... they were truly enemies.
The father said the son was spoiled.
The son said the father spent his days working for nothing.
They were both experts at undermining each other.
Sun Fuchang was furious upon hearing this. "If I didn't make money, where would you get the funds to buy a villa? If you relied on yourself, could you even afford a single hair from a villa?"
Sun Xiaoliang curled his lip and turned to walk into the kitchen. "Mom, what's for lunch? Oh, right, give me some more money. The hard renovation is done, and it's time for soft furnishings and furniture. I reckon I need 500,000. If that's not enough, we'll talk later."
Sun Fuchang was even angrier. "Don't give it to him! Let him earn the money himself. Let him handle the renovation himself. He can move in whenever he finishes it—it's his place to live in, anyway!"
Sun Xiaoliang was even more dismissive. "Then I'll just live in a raw, unfinished house. But if Yingzi wants a divorce because of this, don't come crying to me later."
Sun Fuchang was so angry his face turned beet red, but he couldn't say a word. It was clear his weakness had been exploited.
It made sense; the older generation valued family harmony above all else. If there was any way to avoid it, they certainly wouldn't want to see complications arise in their children's marriages.
Han Jingyang felt a bit awkward watching from the side.
What was this family fussing about?
Was it really appropriate to argue in front of a guest?
And this Sun Fuchang—if he really wanted to discipline his son, couldn't he wait until the guest had left?
Didn't he even know the principle of not disciplining one's child in front of guests?
However, Sun Fuchang was not an ordinary man after all. He had just been stunned by his son's behavior. Regaining his composure, he immediately apologized to Han Jingyang, "Little Han, I'm truly sorry. I've let you see a joke. I was just so incredibly angry."
At this moment, Sun Xiaoliang poked his head out from the kitchen. "You're an interesting guy. The old man thinks highly of you. What is it that you actually do?"
Han Jingyang smiled. "Feng Shui Master."
"Oh?"
"Do you have any questions?"
"That's pretty funny. What year is this? People still believe in that stuff."
Sun Fuchang roared, "Shut up!"
Sun Xiaoliang scoffed and walked out, circling Han Jingyang twice. "Tsk, tsk. I don't see anything special about you. You aren't a fake, are you? There are so many scammers like you online, building personas to swindle people out of money and affection."
"Indeed."
"So you're admitting it?"
"Think whatever you like. Regardless, I didn't swindle you."
"If you swindle my dad, you're swindling me. After all, his money is my money."
Sun Fuchang could no longer hold back. He grabbed an ashtray and hurled it at him.
"Clang!"
The ashtray smashed against the wall and shattered instantly.
Sun Xiaoliang luckily dodged it and yelled angrily, "Are you trying to kill me?"
"Get out! Get out of here! I don't have a son like you."
"I'm not leaving!"
Sun Xiaoliang roared back, turned around, went into the bedroom, and slammed the door shut.
But not long after, he rushed back out, pointed at Han Jingyang's nose, and cursed, "You motherf***ing scammer! Return the money!"
Sun Fuchang stood up abruptly. "Are you rebelling?!"
"Make him return the money! Buying a broken vase for 2.8 million—if that's not a scam, what is? You even said yourself that the market value of that vase is only a few hundred thousand. Spending 2.8 million to buy it—if that's not getting scammed, what is?"
"It's my money! I'll spend it however I want!"
"That's not just your money! It's joint property between you and Mom. Without Mom's consent, this is illegal. I suspect you're using this method to transfer assets. Are you planning to divorce Mom? You old scumbag!"
Han Jingyang was dumbfounded.
What kind of drama is this?
He even brought up transferring assets?
Sun Fuchang is at his age; is there any need for him to do something like that?
Besides, he's been wealthy his whole life. If he really wanted to do something like that, he wouldn't have waited until now, would he?
However, he had no interest in getting involved in this mess, so he stood up and said, "Old Sun, you two can continue arguing. I'm going to head out. Don't forget about that big meal you promised."
"Stop right there!"
Sun Xiaoliang roared and grabbed Han Jingyang by the shoulder. "Return the money! If you don't, don't even think about leaving this door!"
Han Jingyang turned around, took a long, deep look at Sun Xiaoliang, and pulled out his phone to call the police.
A wise man does not fight when the odds are against him.
Besides, there was nothing to discuss with such an unreasonable thug; getting away immediately was the most important thing.
If a conflict started and he got beaten up, it wouldn't be worth it. Even if he got some compensation, so what?
Sun Fuchang hurriedly tried to intervene, but against the tall and strong Sun Xiaoliang, it was completely useless.
The police arrived.
After clarifying the situation, they let Han Jingyang leave immediately.
Although Feng Shui metaphysics is considered feudal superstition, as long as it's a private matter among individuals and doesn't affect public order—and is something both parties agreed to—the police didn't have much to say.
But Sun Xiaoliang still pointed at Han Jingyang and cursed, "You little turtle bastard, this isn't over! You just wait. Let's see if you have the guts to live at the police station every day."
Jiguang Zhai.
Liu Jing was just preparing to have a big meal. Seeing Han Jingyang return, she asked in surprise, "That Sun guy is so rude. He asked you, Boss, to do a job, yet he didn't even provide lunch and let you come back on an empty stomach? What kind of person is he?"
Han Jingyang replied gloomily, "A whole family of weirdos."
Indeed, weirdos.
Sun Fuchang was a bit better, but he hadn't raised his child well.
Sun Xiaoliang was just a total idiot.
And Sun Fuchang's wife was even more impossible to deal with.
Why mention Sun Fuchang's wife?
The matter of Sun Fuchang spending 2.8 million to buy the vase was known only to the old couple. Sun Xiaoliang knew about it after staying in the bedroom for a few minutes, so it was clearly from Sun Fuchang's wife that he had found out.
Telling their son about this was fine, but knowing that their son was at odds with the guest, to add fuel to the fire—regardless of whether it was intentional or not—was disgusting. It was truly a case of being either stupid or malicious.
He really didn't know how Sun Fuchang had made it through all these years.
However, that was none of his business. He would just make sure not to deal with this family again in the future.
But just as this thought crossed his mind, Sun Fuchang's phone call came through.
