134: Strike the snake at its seven-inch mark
After Chen Li received Liu Zhao's call, he pulled Liu Nansheng along to greet them.
As the door opened, everyone finally believed that everything before their eyes was real.
"Come in, don't just stand there at the door," Chen Li greeted with a smile.
As soon as they entered, the three of them were like tourists entering a scenic area, their eyes not enough to take it all in.
Zhong Hao marveled as he walked, and Liu Zhao even ran from the living room to the balcony,
then from the balcony to the backyard, continuously muttering, "This is too big."
Although He Min didn't say anything, her eyes were filled with surprise and envy.
Aside from Chen Li and Liu Nansheng's bedroom, which they didn't enter, they explored almost every corner of the entire Villa.
Finally, the few of them collapsed onto the large sofa in the living room, and Liu Zhao let out a long sigh:
"A Li, your Villa is too big. Be honest, did you win the lottery?"
Zhong Hao couldn't help but interject, his gaze darting between Liu Nansheng and Chen Li: "You sly dog, with both love and career flourishing, you're practically a winner in life."
Chen Li waved his hand and said, "I did make a lot of money. Later, let's all go to the Supermarket to buy some ingredients and cook at home."
"That's a must!"
Liu Zhao sat up straight immediately. "Today, we have to make the rich guy pay! I want Lobster and King Crab, no problem, right?"
"Pick whatever you want, as much as you can eat," Chen Li said with a frank smile.
On the other side, He Min leaned closer to Nansheng and whispered, "Nansheng, I really envy you. The two of you now are like a couple in a TV drama."
Liu Nansheng looked at Chen Li, who was laughing and joking with Liu Zhao, her eyes gentle: "Yes, I also feel very lucky."
"Oh, by the way, have you two heard about the class gathering in a couple of days?"
Zhong Hao seemed to remember something suddenly, putting down his water glass, leaning forward slightly, his tone becoming more serious.
"Yes," Chen Li and Liu Zhao replied almost in unison.
This news had spread through the class group long ago; it would be hard not to know.
Zhong Hao nodded, but his face darkened, and he unconsciously tightened his grip on the cup: "Then let's all go together. I heard a rumor, I don't know why, but that Chen Shimei guy... he's been spreading word outside, saying he's going to make us 'look good' this time."
Zhong Hao's words seemed to freeze the relaxed atmosphere in the living room for a moment.
This person was their old rival from High School. His family was rich and powerful, and he was always surrounded by a group of followers.
Back then, Chen Li and his friends often clashed with Chen Shimei's group, from arguments to fights.
But looking back, they were almost always the ones who suffered and were bullied—the reason was simple: the other side had more people and more money, always suppressing them.
High School was a small society where the strong preyed on the weak.
If it weren't for Zhong Hao, his tough and daring brother, protecting them everywhere, Chen Li's life would have been much harder.
It was Zhong Hao, with his ruthless drive and iron fists, who bore most of the pressure in their small circle,
allowing Chen Li and the others to live a slightly more stable life under the arrogant influence of Chen Shimei's gang.
Liu Zhao immediately got angry, sitting up abruptly: "Heh... this grandson is getting carried away!"
At this moment, Chen Li, who had been mostly silent, slowly raised his head.
He didn't immediately show indignation like Liu Zhao; instead, a faint, meaningful smile played on the corner of his lips, and his eyes revealed a calm and confident demeanor that was now completely different.
He reached out and gently patted Zhong Hao's shoulder: "Brother Hao, let's go together then. I really want to see how he's going to make us 'look good'."
Seeing that it was about time, the group set off for the Supermarket in high spirits.
As soon as they entered the fresh food section, He Min and Liu Nansheng linked arms and plunged between the shelves.
They excitedly compared seasonings, selected vegetables, and chatted happily as they put various ingredients into the shopping cart.
Liu Zhao, on the other hand, had a clear goal and headed straight for the seafood section.
He couldn't move from in front of the huge aquatic tank, staring at the Australian Lobster inside, brandishing its claws, for a long time.
Then, a little embarrassed, he turned back and asked Chen Li in a low voice: "A Li, this big Lobster... can we really get a whole one?"
Chen Li laughed at his words, and without another word, he picked up the nearby fishing net and handed it to Liu Zhao: "Catch it! Get all of them! Today, it's on me!"
Liu Zhao was completely relieved now, his face beaming with a smile: "Alright, today I've achieved seafood freedom!"
Before long, the group returned, laden with bags and packages.
Back in the spacious Villa kitchen, everyone naturally divided tasks and got busy—the girls were responsible for washing and chopping vegetables, while the boys gathered around the large bag of seafood, figuring out how to prepare it.
The kitchen was filled with a faint fishy smell and the fresh scent of dish soap, the sounds of running water, chopping, and laughter blending together. Although a bit chaotic, it was full of genuine domestic warmth.
The meal was lively to prepare and even more enjoyable to eat.
The dining table was covered with Garlic Butter Lobster, Steamed Fish, and Stir-fried Seasonal Vegetables, all the result of their cooperation.
The few of them sat around the table, eating and chatting about embarrassing High School stories and recent interesting news, their laughter almost continuous.
After dinner, Zhong Hao and He Min checked the time and said they had an appointment to handle some business in the afternoon and had to leave first. Liu Zhao naturally had to leave as well.
After seeing Zhong Hao and the others off, the house suddenly became quiet.
The living room, which had just been full of laughter, was now only empty, with a few empty cups.
Liu Nansheng began to clear the fruit peels from the table and took the empty cups to wash.
Chen Li sat in the soft sofa, his body relaxed, finally having time to consider Li Weishan—the lingering rich second generation—and how to deal with him next.
"Find him and beat him up?"
This thought had just emerged when Chen Li himself suppressed it.
He shook his head, knowing very well that simple violence wouldn't solve the problem when dealing with someone like Li Weishan.
That guy's family was rich and powerful; being beaten up would, at most, make him suffer a temporary setback.
Such a person would not only not be afraid but would retaliate with even greater intensity.
As long as he had money and connections, he would be like a venomous snake lurking in the shadows, ready to strike a fatal blow at any unknown moment.
If it were just himself, he naturally wouldn't be afraid, but he had many people he cared about.
People like Li Weishan had no bottom line. Once pushed too far, who could guarantee that he wouldn't turn into a Mad Dog and bite those around him?
If any of them were harmed because of him, that would be a consequence Chen Li absolutely could not bear.
To truly solve the problem once and for all, he had to strike at the vital point, at the 'Seven-Inch Mark'—the Gaoshan Group behind him, which gave him his backing and made him fearless.
So, where to start? Chen Li's fingertips unconsciously tapped on his knee, his thoughts racing.
Last time, Zhong Hao mentioned that Li Weishan's family started in real estate, and later, they also got involved in some shady businesses.
No matter how large such an enterprise grew, it would inevitably have a lifeline—its cash flow.
They must have deep lending relationships with Banks. If he could find a breakthrough there... this kind of thing, he probably had to ask Luo Yan; he should know some information in this regard.
