22: Tang You
"Chen Li, drink some water." She said softly, handing the water over.
"Thank you." Chen Li took the water from her hand, unscrewed the cap, and took a sip.
He could clearly feel the gazes cast his way—some envious, some curious, but mostly undisguised jealousy.
This made him somewhat uncomfortable; he was always accustomed to keeping a low profile. After all, tall trees catch the wind, and as the campus belle, Song Lingyun was the center of attention wherever she went.
"You go back to the Dormitory and wait for me for a while. I'll play one more round, then head back to shower, and I'll find you afterward."
Song Lingyun nodded obediently: "Okay, then I'll go back and wait for you."
Watching her turn and leave, Chen Li finally breathed a sigh of relief. He didn't want to be the center of attention, especially in such a high-profile way as 'campus belle delivering water'.
"Damn, A Li!"
Zhang Yixi was the first to crowd over, his eyes wide: "What's going on? Song Lingyun personally brought you water?"
Guo Zihong also leaned in closer: "Since when did you get so close to the campus belle, you punk?"
Wu Qiang, standing to the side, looked at him meaningfully: "Looks like something's going on."
Chen Li looked at his three brothers' dumbfounded expressions and knew this wasn't something he could explain clearly in a short time.
He shook his head helplessly and downed the rest of the water: "Let's play ball. We're just ordinary friends."
He felt many people on the sidelines still casting gazes at him, with whispers constant in his ears.
Not far away on the other side, Xu Feng, a friend beside Wu Tao, suddenly spoke up:
"I know the one next to him; that's Zhang Yixi from the School of Economics."
"Really? A Feng, then come with me. Let's go over, say hello, and get to know them."
The two walked over to Chen Li's group, and Xu Feng greeted them first: "Yixi, why didn't you call us when you came to play ball? Want to play together?"
Zhang Yixi, who was chatting animatedly, turned his head, saw who it was, and smiled: "Oh, Xu Feng. How could we dare to play against you guys from the school team? We're just getting some exercise."
"You're being too formal."
Xu Feng smiled and patted his shoulder, but his gaze drifted toward Chen Li on the side.
"Something up?"
Zhang Yixi sensed his gaze toward Chen Li and asked directly.
"Nothing much,"
Xu Feng pointed to Wu Tao beside him: "My friend Wu Tao wants to get to know this brother."
Wu Tao stepped forward: "Hello, I'm Wu Tao."
"Hello, Chen Li."
Chen Li had already guessed the other party's intention. "Something up?"
"Was that Song Lingyun just now... your girlfriend?"
Wu Tao asked somewhat nervously.
"Is there a problem with that?"
"Brother Chen Li, to tell you the truth, I've been chasing her for a long time. She deleted my WeChat before. Can you do me a favor and have her add me back?"
"No."
Chen Li refused directly—what a nuisance. Might as well ask him to deliver the girl to his bed while he's at it.
Because of the matter with Song Lingyun, Chen Li wasn't in the mood to play anymore, so he planned to return to the Dormitory. Seeing this, Zhang Yixi and the others stopped playing too and went back to the Dormitory together.
At this moment, in Song Lingyun's Dormitory, several girls were waiting for Chen Li's reply.
Gui Cuicui, wearing exquisite makeup, glanced at the time, her tone carrying a hint of impatience:
"Lingyun, hasn't your boyfriend finished yet? We've been waiting for quite a while now."
"He was playing ball just now; it should be ending soon."
Song Lingyun explained, "How about you guys go to the restaurant first? Once he's done, he and I will go over and meet you."
Tang You saw Gui Cuicui's impatience and proposed a compromise:
"How about this: Cuicui, you two drive to the usual spot and order the food. Lingyun and I will wait here for her boyfriend, and then we'll go over together."
This arrangement was very reasonable; after all, Gui Cuicui had her own car, making it convenient to go back and forth.
"Fine, then."
Gui Cuicui picked up her bag: "We'll go grab a table and order. You guys hurry up."
After saying this, she and another roommate contacted their respective boyfriends to prepare to leave, leaving only Tang You and Song Lingyun in the Dormitory.
Fortunately, they didn't wait long before Song Lingyun's phone pinged. Seeing the message from Chen Li saying he was ready, she replied immediately:
"Okay, let's meet at the school gate."
"Youyou, Chen Li is ready. Let's go."
When Chen Li walked to the school gate, he saw at a glance Song Lingyun rolling down the window from the backseat of a bmw 7 series and waving at him.
"It seems her roommate's family background is indeed quite good."
Chen Li thought to himself.
The car cost about one million; for a student to drive such a car, their family's financial situation must be very good.
This also made him better understand why Song Lingyun cared so much about material conditions—spending every day with such roommates, it was inevitable to develop a sense of comparison.
After getting into the car, Chen Li politely expressed his apologies: "Sorry for keeping you waiting."
Song Lingyun hurriedly introduced them: "This is Chen Li, and this is my roommate Tang You."
"Hello, Chen Li."
Tang You also glanced at Chen Li in the rearview mirror.
"Hello."
Chen Li nodded in response with a smile.
Almost simultaneously, a set of clear data appeared in Chen Li's mind:
【Tang You】
【Affection Level: 0】
【Figure: 85】
【Appearance: 79】
【number of times kun: 0】
【number of kunners: 0】
Although he could only glimpse her side profile in the mirror, her smooth jawline and delicate nose bridge were stunning enough.
Coupled with this outstanding Figure data and clean relationship history, she was clearly a rich girl with a good upbringing who knew self-discipline.
"Didn't you say you were playing ball? How did you finish so quickly?"
Song Lingyun asked with confusion.
"After you left, I played for a while and then went back to the Dormitory."
Along the way, the three chatted intermittently; because they weren't familiar with each other yet, the atmosphere was slightly awkward.
Song Lingyun didn't dare to say too much, fearing that saying too much would give the game away—after all, her relationship with Chen Li wasn't what her roommates imagined.
Soon, the car stopped in front of an exquisitely decorated Cantonese restaurant. Song Lingyun introduced it as the place where they often gathered for meals.
After getting out of the car, Tang You finally had the chance to carefully look at Chen Li. Her gaze was quickly drawn to the watch on Chen Li's wrist.
Although she couldn't immediately tell the specific brand, she could feel that the watch had an extraordinary texture and was definitely not an ordinary item.
What grabbed her attention even more was that from the moment Chen Li saw her BMW until now, he had remained consistently calm, completely lacking the surprise or envy that the average person showed when seeing a luxury car.
This composed attitude, instead, made her feel that this boy might not be simple.
