139: Plant a landmine for Li Weishan

He glanced through the rearview mirror. "That van behind us has been following. I can't let you deal with it yourself."

Chen Li couldn't help but chuckle. "There's really no need to be so nervous. They're just minor characters; I can handle them myself. I'll find a suitable spot in a bit and deal with them easily."

"Your primary task right now is to take Xiao Hui to the best Hospital in Kyoto for a comprehensive check-up."

"See if the experts there have any more advanced treatment plans. Remember, use the best of everything; don't settle just because of money."

"But..." Lu Jun still wanted to insist.

"Alright," Chen Li waved his hand to interrupt.

"Since you've followed me, you must listen to my arrangements. Go back and prepare first. Contact me once you return from Kyoto, and I'll arrange a place for you two to stay."

He paused and added, "Also, stop calling me Young Master Chen. Just call me Chen Li."

Hearing Chen Li's instructions, Lu Jun's body instinctively straightened.

A habit formed from years in the military made him respond instinctively, "Yes!"

Although he agreed verbally, the determination in his eyes didn't diminish in the slightest.

This man of iron had already made a vow in his heart—from now on, he would protect with his life the person before him who had given him and his sister a new lease on life.

Chen Li saw that Lu Jun was still sitting in the car, motionless. Knowing he was truly worried about his safety, a wave of warmth washed over his heart.

His tone softened. "Don't worry, those small fry behind us can't hurt me. Don't you know my combat strength by now?"

"Go up and stay with Xiao Hui. Prepare for the trip to Kyoto early. When you get back, there will be plenty of opportunities for you to help out."

Lu Jun hesitated for a moment before nodding heavily and pushing the door open to get out.

But he didn't leave immediately. Instead, he stood there, watching Chen Li's car slowly drive away until the taillights disappeared around the corner. Only then did he turn and walk into the Residential Complex.

The sun was setting, casting a long shadow behind him.

This warrior, once fearless on the battlefield, was now filled with anticipation for the future—

Both because there was finally hope for his sister's illness and because he had finally found someone worthy of his loyalty... A few hours later, Chen Li's car finally left the highway and turned onto a suburban road.

He glanced through the rearview mirror—that white van was still clinging to him like a maggot on a bone.

A cold arc flashed across the corner of Chen Li's mouth. He turned the steering wheel and drove onto a sparsely populated side road where the trees on both sides were growing denser.

"Damn it, this grandson finally gave us a chance." Inside the van, a burly man with a face full of rough flesh spat fiercely.

"Fuck, I'm definitely breaking both of this kid's legs tonight."

The White-Faced Butcher pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses, his gaze behind the lenses cold as a venomous snake. "Xiao Hei, overtake him and force him to stop."

"Understood."

Xiao Hei slammed on the gas. The dilapidated van let out a raspy roar, its tires grinding over gravel as it suddenly accelerated forward.

They had been led in circles by Chen Li all day—following him from the county town to the city, watching him spend half the day at the Bank, then driving someone back to the Residential Complex, and then returning to the Bank.

A whole day of trailing and waiting had long since worn down the patience of these outlaws.

At this moment, a violent light surged in everyone's eyes; they couldn't wait to tear Chen Li to pieces immediately.

Chen Li watched the van rapidly approach through the rearview mirror, his expression showing no fluctuation.

He deliberately slowed down, as if silently inviting the other party to come forward.

*Screech—*

Amidst the ear-piercing sound of brakes, the van made a sharp turn and arrogantly blocked the Audi right in front.

Amidst the swirling dust, the car door slid open with a clatter, and five murderous figures jumped out. Two of them held steel pipes as they closed in in a fan formation.

Chen Li stopped the car steadily, unhurriedly unbuckled his seatbelt, opened the door, and slowly stepped out.

Just as Chen Li got out, the White-Faced Butcher pushed up his glasses and walked forward with a sinister smile.

A seemingly gentle smile hung on his fair face, but his narrow eyes flickered with a snake-like light that made one's skin crawl.

"You're Chen Li?"

He asked slowly, toying with a cold, glinting dagger in his hand.

"That's me."

Chen Li replied calmly, his gaze sweeping over the five of them, taking in their positions and the steel pipes in their hands.

The White-Faced Butcher chuckled and made a phantom slash in the air with his dagger. "You're lucky; the Hospital is very close. I'll leave you one hand later so you can call 120 yourself."

A faint smile played on Chen Li's face as he looked at the thugs who thought they had succeeded.

They probably never dreamed that this remote stretch of road near the Hospital was exactly the place Chen Li had meticulously chosen for them.

As soon as the White-Faced Butcher finished speaking, the burly man beside him could no longer restrain himself.

Seeing Chen Li's consistently calm demeanor and that faint smile, he was instantly consumed by rage. "Fuck, what the hell are you laughing at!"

With that, a fist the size of a sandbag swung toward Chen Li's face.

The power of this punch was indeed impressive, bringing with it a gust of wind.

But in Chen Li's eyes, it was full of openings. He nimbly stepped aside to avoid it, seized the other man's wrist in the process, and twisted it back—

With a crisp crack, the burly man's arm was dislocated.

Chen Li immediately raised his leg and kicked him in the abdomen with only half his strength.

The man let out a muffled groan and fell to one knee, cold sweat instantly covering his forehead.

The whole process took less than ten seconds.

Chen Li's clean and efficient strike caused a flash of astonishment to cross several of their faces simultaneously.

They truly hadn't expected this seemingly ordinary student to have such skills.

However, this brief surprise didn't make them back down; instead, a murderous light instantly flared in their eyes.

Like thoroughly enraged beasts—the ferocity in their bones was completely ignited.

One of them stepped forward to help the injured man up, skillfully grabbing his arm and giving it a pull and a push. With another crack, the dislocated arm was actually popped back into place.

The man flexed his arm and took a steel pipe from his companion.

The five of them exchanged a glance, and their aura suddenly changed—if they were being somewhat playful before, they were now completely baring their fangs.

Chen Li's eyes narrowed, instantly understanding that these people were completely different from the likes of Scarface Qiang he had encountered before.

They were real criminals; in that case, he could no longer hold back.

"Go!" the White-Faced Butcher ordered, and the five of them pounced simultaneously.

Steel pipes whistled through the air, striking toward Chen Li's vital points from different angles.

Such a desperate stance would be enough to make ordinary thugs wet their pants in fear.

But in Chen Li's eyes, this was far from enough.

His gaze suddenly became sharp, and the power within his body erupted instantly.

Instead of retreating, he moved forward to meet them head-on.

After that sparring match with Lu Jun, he had already mastered the essence of Military Combat Techniques, making his moves even more tricky and ruthless.

Combined with his speed and strength far exceeding that of an ordinary person, as well as that faint sense of perception, the five-man siege couldn't even touch the corner of his clothes.

*Thud—* Another thug fell, clutching a broken arm.

*Crack—* Another person's lower leg bent at a bizarre angle.

In just a few minutes, two of the five had completely lost their ability to fight.

The remaining three grew more alarmed as they fought; they had never encountered such a terrifying opponent.

Chen Li, however, didn't plan on wasting any more time.

His figure flashed, approaching the other two like a ghost. With two crisp sounds, two more people fell to the ground screaming.

Now, only the White-Faced Butcher remained standing.

Chen Li looked coldly at the man with glasses, who finally showed a hint of panic in his eyes.

Toward such a person, as insidious as a venomous snake, a surge of uncontrollable hostility rose in Chen Li's heart.

He showed no mercy, his strikes as fast as lightning.

Accompanied by a series of tooth-gritting bone cracks, one of the White-Faced Butcher's hands and both of his legs were completely broken, leaving him slumped on the ground like a pile of mud.

Chen Li grabbed him by the collar and whispered in his ear, "Didn't Li Weishan tell you that I'm a very good fighter?"

After saying that, he released his grip in disgust, letting the man collapse onto the ground.

As he turned to walk back to his car, he deliberately left the thug with the lightest injuries—someone had to take these pieces of trash to the Hospital.

The car started. Chen Li glanced through the rearview mirror at the five men lying scattered on the ground, a cold sneer curling his lips.

The last sentence he left was a landmine specifically planted for Li Weishan—after suffering such a huge loss,

and realizing they were screwed over by Li Weishan's information, they would definitely turn around to settle the score with him.

As the car drove into the night, Chen Li could still feel the residual vibration from the fight in his hands.

Just then, Liu Nansheng's figure suddenly appeared clearly in his mind—her skin as soft as water, her sensitive reactions.

His Adam's apple bobbed slightly, and he couldn't help but press harder on the gas pedal, accelerating toward home...
