65: Chapter 65 I haven't even put in any effort yet, how come you've all collapsed?!

Two days later.

Lin Yuan had just stepped into the Chief Engineer's office, and before he could even put down the backpack on his shoulder, a series of hurried, almost chaotic footsteps sounded from outside the door.

He didn't even turn his head, but the corners of his lips were already curled into a slight smile.

Just by listening to the commotion, he could guess who was coming.

Creak—

The door was pushed open. Wei Jiancheng led the charge, with He Yicheng and Yang Lin following closely behind him.

The three of them walked even faster than they had two days ago, carrying an irrepressible sense of elation.

“Chief Engineer Lin!”

Wei Jiancheng strode in, his entire being radiating the fatigue characteristic of continuous high-intensity work, yet his rough face was flushed with an unusual glow.

He didn't beat around the bush; his voice was hoarse, but every word carried immense weight.

“Light Source Group, Superconducting Acceleration Cavity Cooling Circulation System—as of 11:37 last night, the entire process has been successfully run through.”

When he said this, he didn't roar; he even deliberately lowered his voice.

Yet it was precisely this calm, which suppressed a surging tide of emotion, that was more impactful than any shout.

He Yicheng followed behind and stood still at a measured pace, his steady face also tinged with an unavoidable flush.

“Objective Lens Group, Multi-layer Dielectric Film Atomic Layer Deposition—the uniformity data for the first batch of samples is out.”

“Every indicator falls perfectly within the tolerance range you specified, without the slightest error.”

Yang Lin stood at the very back, rubbing his hands together and grinning.

“The Six-degree-of-freedom Joint Debugging Algorithm has also been implemented. The precision is even half an order of magnitude higher than expected.”

The three took turns reporting.

There were no complex datasets or long-winded processes.

Each person spoke only a sentence or two, clean and concise.

But the weight of these few words was such that any one of them, if released, would be enough to cause a massive earthquake in the global semiconductor industry.

Lin Yuan nodded slightly after listening and spoke from the heart.

“Beautiful.”

He looked up, scanning the three elderly men's faces for their hidden fatigue and pride, and said slowly.

“Two days, and all three lines have been successfully run through.”

“To be honest, it's a bit faster than I anticipated.”

This evaluation was neither too high nor too low, yet it steadily caught the passion and glory of the three veteran scientists who had rushed over, making them feel comforted and satisfied.

Lin Yuan had also personally made many trips between the various groups over the past few days.

He was well aware of the progress made during this time.

The engineering foundation of these veteran scientists was terrifyingly solid.

“But then again.”

Lin Yuan suddenly chuckled, a hint of playfulness entering his tone.

“This speed of yours has really put me on the hot seat.”

Wei Jiancheng was stunned upon hearing this.

“Huh?”

“If the speed at which I organize the follow-up materials can't keep up with the speed at which you digest them...”

Lin Yuan spread his hands lazily, making an innocent expression.

“Then what should I do?”

The teasing nature of this sentence was too obvious. Wei Jiancheng was the first to break, letting out a snort of laughter.

“Chief Engineer Lin, stop poking fun at us old men!”

“How could we not be fast? You're providing both the theories and the plans all by yourself. If this large group of ours couldn't even keep up with your digestion speed, where would we hide our old faces?”

He Yicheng also nodded, pushing up the glasses on the bridge of his nose, rarely showing a mischievous expression.

“That's right, Chief Engineer Lin. We haven't become useless to that extent yet.”

“And even if there were no follow-up plans for the time being, the direction and path are right in front of us. We can just continue to grind through it ourselves.”

He looked at Lin Yuan and spoke with great emphasis, one word at a time.

“We can't possibly rely on you for everything.”

Yang Lin chimed in repeatedly from the side.

“Right, right, right! We haven't reached the point where we can't even swallow food after it's been chewed for us!”

After hearing this, Lin Yuan finally couldn't help but laugh out loud.

The words of the three were frank and made sense.

The pride and sense of responsibility in the bones of these veteran scientists were fully revealed in these simple responses.

“Alright.”

He reined in his laughter, his expression becoming a bit more serious.

“We need to keep up the pace, but there's one thing you seniors must guarantee me.”

“Everyone must get adequate rest.”

Lin Yuan scanned the deep dark circles under the eyes of the three, his tone carrying a touch of genuine concern.

“Health is the foundation of everything. It's a cliché, but it's the truth.”

“The battle ahead is still long. I don't want to see anyone collapsing on me halfway through.”

Wei Jiancheng opened his mouth, and a 'it's fine' was just about to come out when he met Lin Yuan's serious eyes and forced it back down.

He muttered something, which served as a tacit agreement.

He Yicheng and Yang Lin didn't try to act tough either and agreed.

“Good.”

Lin Yuan brought that topic to a close, then leaned his body slightly to the side.

His hand reached for the black backpack he had casually placed on the desk.

It was a motion that couldn't have been simpler.

Yet at that moment, the air in the office suddenly tightened.

The breathing of Wei Jiancheng, He Yicheng, and Yang Lin all hitched in unison.

Last time, Lin Yuan had done the same thing.

He had pulled three hard drives out of this inconspicuous black backpack that were enough to shake the entire industry.

The memory was so deep that their bodies had formed a conditioned reflex.

The three didn't even dare to exchange a glance; they just stared blankly at Lin Yuan's hand.

Lin Yuan unzipped the bag unhurriedly.

His hand reached inside.

When that hand was withdrawn, several pure black Solid-state Drives were held in his palm.

They had the exact same military-grade alloy casing as last time.

“Here.”

Lin Yuan raised his hand and handed the hard drives over.

A single word, light as a feather.

The corner of Wei Jiancheng's mouth twitched violently, and then a complex smile—one that was hard to distinguish between ecstasy and helplessness—slowly spread across his rough face.

“I knew it!”

He snatched the hard drives that belonged to him, shaking his head with a wry smile.

“That speech of yours just now about 'not being able to keep up' and being 'on the hot seat'...”

He raised his hand and pointed the hard drives at Lin Yuan.

“So from start to finish, you were just messing with us?!”

He Yicheng and Yang Lin also each took their share. They didn't say anything, but the expressions on their faces—both annoyed and amused—already said everything.

Lin Yuan smiled but said nothing.

Just then, another set of footsteps came from the hallway—unhurried, yet steady and powerful.

Before long, Chen Jingshan's figure appeared at the door, with Lin Jixian half a step behind him.

Lin Jixian had changed into a navy blue jacket today. His hair was still combed slick and shiny, and he looked full of energy.

“Dean Chen, Brother Lin.”

Lin Yuan walked over and greeted them with a smile.

Wei Jiancheng and the others also turned around and greeted them one after another.

Chen Jingshan scanned the lively scene in the office, his gaze lingering for a moment on the new hard drives clutched in the hands of the three directors.

Immediately after, Lin Jixian stepped quickly from Chen Jingshan's side, coming up to Lin Yuan in a few strides with a warm smile and rubbing his hands together.

“Brother Lin.”

“I've brought over the things you wanted.”
