39: Chapter 39 Unexpected Situations
Thank you for the compliment, Little Girl. But you're not so bad yourself; there's a special kind of spiritual aura about you.
Qing Luo blushed: 'Not at all... I...'
Bi Luo teased: 'Little Sister Qing Luo is getting shy. But honestly, Miss Nangong is truly beautiful; even I can't help but look a few more times.'
The group burst into laughter, slightly easing the tense atmosphere.
'Alright, enough fooling around,' Daoist Wangchuan reminded them, 'We'd better stay alert. The people from Dark Prison won't give up easily.'
Everyone nodded and continued onward. After walking for a while, the demoness suddenly stopped, her expression grave.
'There's movement ahead,' the demoness said in a low voice, 'Everyone be careful.'
The group halted, looking around. Sure enough, hurried footsteps sounded from ahead. Before long, several figures clad in black appeared on the forest path.
'More from Dark Prison!' Bi Luo whispered.
The lead Man in Black sneered: 'Just as expected, you really did choose this small path. This time, we'll round you all up!'
Daoist Wangchuan said solemnly: 'You've come just in time. We were just worried we couldn't find your trail.'
The two sides stood off for a moment, a fight ready to erupt at any second. The Men in Black swiftly launched their attack. Daoist Wangchuan and Nangong Han moved to meet them, while the demoness positioned herself protectively beside Qing Luo and Bi Luo.
'You two, fall back!' the demoness commanded.
Bi Luo, unwilling to be outdone, drew her sword and joined the fray: 'I can help!'
Qing Luo followed closely behind, but was quickly stopped by the demoness: 'No! You have the soul bead; you can't take risks!'
Qing Luo had no choice but to retreat to the side. The battle grew increasingly fierce, both sides using every ounce of their skill. Daoist Wangchuan's swordplay was incredibly fierce, each strike carrying the force of thunder. Nangong Han's movements were light and graceful, her long whip dancing like a dragon or snake, a dazzling sight.
'This young lady has impressive skills,' a Man in Black praised, but before he could finish, Daoist Wangchuan severed his offensive with a sword strike.
'Enough talk, take this!' Daoist Wangchuan roared.
On the other side, Bi Luo and Qing Luo faced the encirclement of several Men in Black. Bi Luo fought desperately to hold them off, but her body hadn't fully recovered yet, and she gradually began to struggle.
'Qing Luo, run!' Bi Luo shouted.
Qing Luo hesitated for a moment, then turned and ran back. She knew that if she were captured, the soul bead would be in danger.
'Don't let her escape!' someone among the Men in Black yelled.
Bi Luo gritted her teeth, using all her strength to cover Qing Luo's retreat. However, more Men in Black surged forward, creating a critical situation.
At that very moment, Nangong Han suddenly intervened to help. With a sweep of her whip, she sent several Men in Black tumbling to the ground. 'You underestimated me,' she said coldly.
Taking advantage of the chaos, Qing Luo ran as fast as she could. She knew that if she could just find a safe place to hide, she could relieve some of the pressure on the others.
Suddenly, she spotted a dense patch of woods ahead and rushed into it. She hid behind a large tree, holding her breath, hoping to evade the pursuers.
'Over here!' a voice sounded not far away.
Qing Luo's heart tightened, but she didn't move. Several Men in Black searched the surrounding area but failed to find any trace of her and had to leave in disappointment.
After a long while, certain no one else was coming, Qing Luo dared to emerge from behind the tree. She looked around and realized she was now far from the battlefield.
'What do I do now?' Qing Luo said to herself.
Just as she was sinking into confusion, she suddenly heard a series of faint, hurried footsteps behind her. She whirled around and saw a figure approaching.
'It's you!' Qing Luo exclaimed in surprise.
The figure stopped, a gentle smile appearing on his face: 'Qing Luo, I'm glad you're alright.'
That person was none other than Chu Yang. Dressed in white, he looked particularly dashing. Qing Luo was both shocked and overjoyed, momentarily speechless.
'What's wrong? Don't you recognize me?' Chu Yang laughed.
Qing Luo finally snapped back to reality and threw herself into Chu Yang's arms: 'Big Brother Chu Yang, you finally appeared! They all thought you were waiting for us at Zhuque Mountain.'
Chu Yang gently patted her back: 'Things have changed; I came ahead of schedule. Tell me, how are the others?'
Qing Luo said anxiously: 'They're still fighting the people from Dark Prison. The situation is dangerous.'
Chu Yang nodded: 'Come on, take me to them.'
The two quickly left the woods, retracing their original path. By now, the battle was nearing its end. Daoist Wangchuan and Nangong Han, fighting together, had repelled most of the Men in Black, with only a few still putting up a stubborn resistance.
'Chu Yang!' Seeing Chu Yang arrive, Daoist Wangchuan couldn't help but sigh in relief.
A flash of pleasant surprise appeared in Nangong Han's eyes: 'Chu Yang, you really came!'
Chu Yang walked up to the group and said to everyone with a smile: 'Thank you for your hard work. Now it's my turn.'
Upon seeing Chu Yang, the Men in Black all paled, seemingly realizing they had encountered an even more troublesome opponent.
'Retreat!' one of the Men in Black gave the order, and the others began to withdraw.
Chu Yang, however, didn't let them escape easily. With a swing of his longsword, several sword energies shot forth, instantly striking down the fleeing Men in Black.
'Finally dealt with,' Daoist Wangchuan let out a long sigh of relief, 'What should we do next?'
Chu Yang looked at Nangong Han, his gaze filled with complex emotions: 'Nangong Han, why did you come looking for me?'
Nangong Han took a deep breath and spoke slowly: 'I received some information about a major operation Dark Prison is planning. I was worried for your safety, so I decided to come find you.'
Chu Yang fell silent for a moment, then nodded: 'Thank you, Nangong Han. Let's face this together.'
The group tidied up the battlefield and decided to continue towards Zhuque Mountain. Along the way, everyone was filled with renewed confidence and hope.
'Chu Yang, will you really help us?' Qing Luo asked.
Chu Yang smiled: 'Of course, protecting you is my responsibility. Let's face the challenges ahead together.'
Qing Luo nodded, her heart filled with reassurance and gratitude. Led by Chu Yang, the group continued on their unknown journey.
'Let's go. Our journey has only just begun,' Chu Yang said firmly.
Qing Luo looked ahead, silently thinking to herself: Many unknowns still await us in the future, but we are not alone. Led by Chu Yang, the group continued on their journey towards Zhuque Mountain. The sky gradually darkened, and low rumbles of thunder sounded in the distance, as if foretelling an impending storm.
'Why is the weather so strange?' Bi Luo frowned, looking up at the sky, 'Nothing bad is going to happen, is it?'
Daoist Wangchuan also stopped walking, closing his eyes to sense the surrounding environment: 'The energy field here feels off. We'd better pass through this area quickly.'
Nangong Han nodded, a hint of vigilance in her gaze: 'Everyone, stay alert and be ready to deal with any emergency situation at any moment.'
