48: Chapter 48 looks complicated.
Chu Yang slowly walked toward the massive treasure chest, each step feeling exceptionally heavy. The surrounding air seemed to have solidified, and even the sound of breathing became unusually clear. The spectating Wanderers also held their breath, their eyes closely following his every move.
"This treasure chest doesn't look simple," a middle-aged man whispered.
"Indeed, who knows what kind of eerie things are hidden inside," another young woman added, her eyes flashing with curiosity and unease.
Nangong Han clenched his fists and said in a low voice, "Chu Yang, be careful."
Chu Yang nodded and reached out to gently touch the surface of the chest. Suddenly, a blinding light erupted from the chest, illuminating the entire space as if it were broad daylight. Everyone instinctively shielded their eyes with their hands. Once the light gradually dissipated, the lid of the chest slowly opened.
"This... what is this?" Qing Luo asked in surprise, seeing that there was only a seemingly ordinary Crystal Key inside the chest.
"So it's just a key," a young Wanderer sighed with some disappointment.
"Don't be careless; this might be the key to the next trial," the middle-aged man warned.
Chu Yang picked up the Crystal Key and felt a powerful surge of energy. "It seems this is not simple; we must find the correct way to use it."
The woman smiled and nodded, seemingly satisfied with Chu Yang's reaction. "Very well, you have obtained the key to enter the next trial. Now, head to the center of the Arena; that is where you will face your true challenge."
"Let's go, we continue forward," Chu Yang said firmly, leading the group toward the center of the Arena.
"This lady seems very powerful," a young Wanderer marveled.
"Yes, but she also seems to be testing us," another older Wanderer said thoughtfully. "I really hope they can pass through smoothly."
The group crossed the wide Arena and arrived at the high platform in the center. At this moment, a massive Stone Tablet appeared before them, engraved with complex and mysterious runes.
"Insert the key into this hole," the woman prompted softly.
Chu Yang took a deep breath and inserted the Crystal Key into the hole on the Stone Tablet. Instantly, the Stone Tablet emitted a dazzling light, and a deafening sound echoed in the air. The Stone Tablet slowly cracked open, revealing a dark passage.
"Is this the entrance to the next trial?" Bi Luo asked doubtfully.
"Exactly. Only by passing through this passage can you unlock the secrets of the Forgotten Land," the woman's words carried a hint of mystery.
"Then let's set off!" Chu Yang said firmly, then led his companions into the passage.
The passage was cold and dark, with low rumbles constantly echoing around them. The group moved forward cautiously. After walking for an unknown amount of time, a massive cave suddenly appeared ahead.
"Where is this?" Qing Luo looked around alertly.
"It looks like we're going to have our next battle here," Chu Yang said solemnly.
"So what? No matter what kind of enemy it is, we can overcome them!" Nangong Han brandished his fists, full of confidence.
Just then, the ground shook violently, and a giant Stone Beast slowly crawled out from the depths of the cave. Its body was covered in hard scales, and its eyes flickered with a fierce light.
"What kind of monster is this?" a Wanderer shouted in terror.
"My god, it's terrifying!" another Wanderer also cried out.
"Everyone calm down, don't panic!" The Elder stepped forward again, encouraging them loudly.
Chu Yang gripped the longsword in his hand, his gaze fixed firmly on the Stone Beast before him. "No matter what it is, we will defeat it!"
"Let's fight side by side!" Qing Luo brandished her Long Whip, looking heroic and formidable.
Nangong Han and Bi Luo followed closely behind, preparing to face the upcoming fierce battle. A tense atmosphere filled the air, and everyone held their breath, waiting for the outcome of this life-and-death struggle.
"Begin. Let's see who will have the last laugh," the woman's voice echoed in the air, full of mystery and anticipation.
Chu Yang took a deep breath, gripped his longsword tightly, and prepared to launch the first attack. At the same time, the massive Stone Beast also slowly opened its cold eyes and let out a deafening roar...
"Come on, let's fight to the death!" Chu Yang shouted, then rushed toward the Stone Beast. The others followed closely, ready for battle.
Just as the battle was about to erupt, the spectating Wanderers were filled with tension and anticipation. They knew this would be a battle that decided their fate. Chu Yang swung his sword at the Stone Beast, the sound of metal clashing against scales being deafening. The massive Stone Beast roared, its tail suddenly sweeping across and sending Chu Yang flying. The surrounding ground shook continuously under the Stone Beast's power, and debris flew everywhere.
"Chu Yang!" Qing Luo cried out in alarm and rushed forward. Her Long Whip coiled around the Stone Beast's front claw as she pulled hard. Nangong Han also followed, his fists striking the Stone Beast's chest with a heavy thud.
"Everyone be careful, this Stone Beast's power is immense!" the Elder warned loudly.
"Hmph, a mere Stone Beast is nothing to me!" Bi Luo snorted coldly, joining the battle with her longsword.
The Stone Beast's attack power was startling, making every strike difficult for the group to handle. But Chu Yang was completely fearless. He took a deep breath, and his entire aura suddenly exploded, as if the entire cave was under his control.
The spectating Wanderers watched Chu Yang's performance and began to discuss it one after another.
"This kid is really a tough nut to crack!" a young man exclaimed.
"Isn't that right? To be able to stand up to such a powerful Stone Beast is truly admirable," an older woman nodded in agreement.
Another young Wanderer widened his eyes and marveled, "Look at that sword strike of his; it's simply incredible!"
At that moment, the Stone Beast suddenly let out a wild roar, its scales emitting a dazzling light. It leaped up suddenly and launched an even more violent attack on Chu Yang.
"Oh no, its power seems to have increased!" Qing Luo's brow furrowed.
Chu Yang's eyes were firm, and the longsword in his hand rose again, the tip pointing directly at the Stone Beast's heart. At the same time, he felt the Crystal Key grow slightly warm, as if some power was flowing into his body.
"Now's the time!" Chu Yang shouted. A dazzling light instantly erupted from the longsword, as if it had transformed into a golden dragon, piercing directly toward the Stone Beast.
"What a powerful aura!" a spectating Wanderer cried out.
The Stone Beast cried out in pain, its massive body swaying, but it did not fall. Instead, it became even more frenzied, opening its bloody maw to bite at Chu Yang.
"Danger!" Seeing this, Nangong Han rushed forward without hesitation to block for Chu Yang, both fists striking out to force the Stone Beast's head back.
