149: Civilization development mission begins

Before Lu Yang entered Longhe Valley, there were only a few thousand people on the Xinhuo Train. When he came out of Longhe Valley, the population on the Xinhuo Train had already exceeded fifty thousand.

It doesn't sound like much, just the population size of an ordinary town before the apocalypse.

But after the apocalypse, this population size was quite terrifying.

If it weren't for the Micro Ecological Farm, a space-reducing component on the Xinhuo Train, it would require at least five hundred carriages using the method of housing one hundred people per carriage. Even if compressed to two hundred people per carriage, it would still require two hundred and fifty carriages.

Such a behemoth would be unimaginable in the wilderness, appearing too unwieldy.

No Train Captain would do that either.

Wouldn't that just make them a living target?

Anyway, to the supreme Train Captain on the train, there was no difference between lording over two thousand people and lording over twenty thousand people.

After all, he only had one little brother.

When they returned to Donglin Plain, Rui Ran, Train Captain of Ghost Princess was already waiting at the border. In addition to one hundred freshly minted Heroic Spirit Guards, Rui Ran, Train Captain of Ghost Princess also offered over a million units of first-level resources that she had painstakingly collected over the past half-month.

When she presented the resources, her expression was devout and loyal, her eyes full of anticipation, like a puppy waiting for a reward.

Lu Yang naturally would not ignore her.

After all, Rui Ran, Train Captain of Ghost Princess was one of the few good playmates who could unconditionally cooperate with him and had the conditions to do so.

Lu Yang toiled day and night, thoroughly rewarding Rui Ran, Train Captain of Ghost Princess.

It wasn't until the Civilization Pioneer advancement mission entered the countdown interface that Rui Ran, Train Captain of Ghost Princess, who was extremely reluctant to leave, departed from the Xinhuo Train.

You have officially started the 'Civilization Pioneer' advancement mission, difficulty selected: 'Despair'.

Mission Location: Hanhai Star.

Mission Content: Defend the newly established pioneering base for 30 days until the temporary territory stone truly takes root on Hanhai Star and the territory boundary officially expands. The territory stone must not be dug out midway, nor can it be contaminated by the blood of alien natives. If all residents of the territory die, the mission will also be judged as a failure.

Mission Reward: To be determined. (Judged based on the final completion of the mission; no penalty for failure)

Unlike entering the Golden Coast, after activating the Civilization Pioneer advancement mission, the Xinhuo Train directly disappeared from its original location.

As the Train Captain, Lu Yang didn't even feel any obvious abnormality when he heard a prompt from the Train Captain panel—

You have entered the alien planet 'Hanhai Star', current location 'Dongfan Peninsula', 'Sanmin Village'.

Please bring the Train Captain's token, 1 unit of first-level Iron Mine, 1 unit of first-level copper, and 1 unit of first-level wood into the Sanmin Village Territory Hall within 1 hour to activate the temporary territory stone. If not activated within 1 hour, the mission will be judged as a failure, and the Xinhuo Train will be repatriated to the Train World.

After reading the mission prompt, Lu Yang looked out the window, only to see that the outside, which had been brightly sunny, was now shrouded in a dense fog, like a deep winter morning.

Vague figures roamed in the depths of the mist, but the Xinhuo Train's enemy-seeking radar showed no display.

On the thermometer, the temperature outside the train was 3 degrees. Lu Yang pressed his hand on the car window glass, and the icy touch made him feel the rapid loss of temperature.

Then, the next second, a bloody palm appeared on the outside of the car window.

Seeing this, Lu Yang narrowed his eyes slightly.

He took out the binoculars nearby and looked into the depths of the mist.

Under the binoculars, which had a fixed field of view, everything in his vision was like a mosaic being erased, becoming suddenly clear.

Coincidentally, the Sanmin Village Territory Hall was just a few hundred meters directly in front of the train's head.

It was a small building similar to a roadside earth temple. If it weren't for the sign hanging 'Sanmin Village Territory Hall', Lu Yang, even if he stood in front of it, wouldn't believe it was the so-called Sanmin Village Territory Hall.

At this moment, a blue stone was placed in the shrine it enshrined, and in front of the shrine were three offering dishes, all empty.

And around the earth temple, a dense crowd of humanoid zombies was gathered, all wet, looking as if they had just been pulled out of the water.

The one that had just slapped Lu Yang's window was one of the humanoid zombies, only it was luckier, having just been gnawing on a fresh corpse.

Then, with a bang, the previously quiet mist was like a floodgate opening, suddenly becoming lively.

Dense footsteps were everywhere, some from the mist in the direction of the Sanmin Village Territory Hall, and some from the rear of the Xinhuo Train's carriages.

It was hard to say which side had more.

But soon, only one side remained.

And clanging sounds came from it.

Hundreds of Raptors, wearing full steel armor and with fist-sized steel balls hanging from their tails, charged into the zombie horde like tigers descending from a mountain, quickly slaughtering the pathetic creatures formed from the deaths of the previous pioneers.

A quarter of an hour later, the commotion outside gradually subsided.

Lu Yang, wearing the 'Thorn-Class Single-Soldier Combat Mech' which had been reinforced a second time with Civilization Points and now had some silver stripes on its body, stepped out of the train.

It wasn't that he didn't want to drive the Xinhuo Train directly to the 'Sanmin Village Territory Hall', but after pressing the start button, the train remained unresponsive.

And the countdown was still continuing.

Seeing this, Lu Yang had no choice but to carry the box containing the materials needed to activate the territory and get off the train himself.

Raptors lined up like guards, standing on both sides of the path Lu Yang was about to take.

Further away, many Raptors patrolled in the mist, guarding against any other potential dangers.

However, until Lu Yang reached the 'Sanmin Village Territory Hall', no accidents occurred.

Lu Yang, as required, placed the Train Captain's token and the three types of first-level resources, one unit each, on the shrine and offering dishes respectively.

With a mechanical clatter like gears turning, the originally small 'Sanmin Village Territory Hall' unfolded like a Red Alert base vehicle.

Then a strange mechanical voice sounded in Lu Yang's mind—

Temporary Territory Stone successfully reactivated, activating Lord 'Lu Yang', permission code 0001.

The rule concealment is about to dissipate, and the first wave of invading enemies will arrive in 10 hours. Please prepare your defenses, Lord, and be sure to hold out for 30 days.

Train Captain, good luck!!
