159: Rune Engraving

Bang—

A deafening boom echoed through the underground shooting range, as if the entire space was shaken by the immense power of a massive gunshot.

Lu Yang stood not far away, his gaze fixed on the rapidly firing heavy sniper bullet. His movements were swift and decisive; he unhesitatingly enveloped the target with a light blue Water Element Shield.

Under the scrutiny of multi-angle, high-definition cameras, this scene was clearly recorded. It was evident that the moment the Water Element Shield was struck by the armor-piercing round, its surface appeared to be compressed by a powerful force, rapidly caving inward.

However, the Water Element Shield was not easily shattered as people might have expected. It acted like a tenacious guardian; though ultimately pierced, it successfully consumed a significant amount of the bullet's kinetic energy in the process.

The heavy sniper armor-piercing round, originally powerful enough to penetrate 10mm thick steel plates, had its lethality significantly reduced after its violent collision with the Water Element Shield. When it hit the steel target, it only produced a crisp clang, then flew off weakly, like a pebble bouncing away.

Seeing this, Lu Yang’s lips curved slightly upward, revealing a satisfied smile.

After obtaining detailed information about Spirit Runes from Wani, he curiously began to observe the Spirit Runes carved into the Rune Ore.

Initially, he hadn't held much expectation, but to Lu Yang's surprise, he had a strong affinity for the water element.

As long as he looked at those azure Spirit Runes once, they would clearly manifest in his mind.

Thus, carving them with mental power naturally posed no difficulty.

Whether it was the complex and exquisite Ice Crystal Arrow Spirit Rune or the vibrant and dynamic Water Element Shield Spirit Rune, he succeeded almost every time on the first try.

Only the most complex Frost Nova Spirit Rune required Lu Yang to spend a bit more effort.

But after he meticulously examined and repeatedly pondered every detail, and simulated it several times, he completed its construction in his mind.

These Spirit Runes constructed by mental power, compared to the rune patterns obtained from the Snake-Person Great Elder, had roughly the same overall shape and line direction, but there were subtle differences in some details.

At first, Lu Yang was confused by this difference and even began to suspect that he had made an error during the construction process.

However, when he decided to personally test the effects of these Spirit Runes, he was surprised to find that the Ice Crystal Arrows produced by the Spirit Runes he constructed were even more powerful than those obtained from the Rune Stones, and the Water Element Shield was also sturdier.

This discovery gave Lu Yang a new understanding of his abilities. He realized that although these mental Spirit Runes appeared somewhat illusory and the amount of mental power that could be input was relatively limited, the power they displayed was not to be underestimated.

If these Spirit Runes could be further optimized, or if a method could be found to increase the input of mental power, their power would undoubtedly be enhanced to a greater extent.

This unexpected result made Lu Yang ponder a question: perhaps the Spirit Runes he constructed were the versions that truly aligned with the original Spirit Runes.

After all, these Spirit Runes were constructed through his own mental power, and they might be more compatible with his personal characteristics to some extent, thereby unleashing more powerful effects.
