22: Level 2 acid rain disaster
The train traveled onward.
As it drove, when it was less than a hundred miles from the Level 2 mining point on the outskirts of the Green Mist Forest, Lu Yang looked up and noticed that, at some unknown point, a mass of grey-green rain clouds, stretching for hundreds of miles, had gathered over the Green Mist Forest in the distance.
The clouds hung very low, exuding an unsettling oppressiveness.
Just as Lu Yang was hesitating whether to continue driving the Xinhuo Train forward, a voice message suddenly appeared on a nearby radio channel.
Black Knight (Level 3 Train): "[Urgent Notice]: Train Captains around the Green Mist Forest, the Black Knight's weather radar has just detected an emergency: a large-scale Level 2 acid rain event is about to form around the Green Mist Forest, accompanied by a Level 1 White-Winged Insect Plague. Train Captains within the Green Mist Forest area, please evacuate immediately for emergency shelter."
Level 2 acid rain? Level 1 White-Winged Insect Plague?
Although Lu Yang hadn't been a Train Captain for long, he had heard of such famous natural disasters.
In the Train World, various natural disasters like blizzards, acid rain, sandstorms, and hail would occasionally erupt.
They were divided into different levels based on their scope and destructiveness, with the standard for classification being the time a conventional train's iron armor of the same level could withstand it for half an hour.
For example, with Level 2 acid rain, unless a Level 2 Train had corresponding special protective equipment, its Level 2 Train iron armor would be completely corroded by the acid rain within half an hour, exposing the train's interior.
If it were an ordinary person, under the corrosion of acid rain as strong as concentrated sulfuric acid, they would be reduced to a skeleton in less than ten seconds.
The Xinhuo Train's current train iron armor was only Level 1, and it might not even last fifteen minutes under Level 2 acid rain.
Not to mention that this Level 2 acid rain disaster erupting on the outskirts of the Green Mist Forest was also accompanied by a Level 1 White-Winged Insect Plague.
White-Winged Insect Plagues usually only appeared during acid rain weather. The White-Winged Insects in a Level 1 White-Winged Insect Plague were only Level 1, and Level 1 bullets could effectively kill them.
However, their numbers were so vast they blotted out the sky, and their blood was highly corrosive.
If White-Winged Insects broke through defenses and crashed into the train, the strong corrosiveness of their blood could completely corrode a layer of Level 1 Train iron armor in tens of seconds, which was even more terrifying than Level 2 acid rain.
Therefore, after seeing the voice message sent by the Black Knight's Train Captain on the nearby channel, Lu Yang didn't hesitate for a second and immediately turned the train around, driving away from the Green Mist Forest.
Even so, the Xinhuo Train failed to fully escape the rapidly expanding Level 2 acid rain coverage area before the rain fell.
When there were still three kilometers to go before completely leaving the acid rain zone, grey-green raindrops, like strong sulfuric acid, dripped onto the surface of the Xinhuo Train's carriages.
The Level 1 Train iron armor was instantly corroded with shallow pits the size of raindrops. For carriages without Level 1 Train iron armor installed, their already thin iron sheets visibly thinned like paper.
In an instant, the alarm sounds from the train's intelligent AI almost drowned Lu Yang, who was in the cockpit, like a tide.
Fortunately, Lu Yang had evacuated personnel to the carriages with installed train iron armor the moment he received the Black Knight's message.
Then, he urgently installed Level 1 Train iron armor on all carriages.
Thus, no casualties occurred.
When the Xinhuo Train completely drove out of the acid rain-covered area more than a minute later, according to the train's intelligent AI's calculations, the damage to all train iron armor had reached over 30%.
The wheels also suffered varying degrees of damage.
The severity of this Level 2 acid rain was far greater than imagined.
What made Lu Yang even more apprehensive was that shortly after driving out of the acid rain zone, a sky-blotting swarm of White-Winged Insects flew out from the depths of the acid rain zone, circling along the boundary of the acid rain zone.
Then, in just a few tens of seconds, two of the yellow dots that had appeared on the Xinhuo Train's targeting radar, representing other trains, rapidly disappeared.
Only one remained, charging at an extremely high speed, breaking through the encirclement of the White-Winged Insect swarm, and heading towards the Xinhuo Train.
