49: Become a formal disciple
Qin Yue stood in the dining hall, completely motionless, until he could no longer hear his Master's voice before he slowly leaned back into a chair and sat down.
Qin Yue picked up the teapot his Master had used, poured a cup of tea, and drank it down. He then poured another cup, drank it, and continued for several more cups until the teapot was completely empty before stopping.
Qin Yue wiped the sweat from his forehead and felt a chill down his back, knowing that his back was also drenched in sweat.
Qin Yue never imagined that a simple, casual remark from him could provoke such a strong reaction from his Master.
When his Master stared at him, the heavy mental pressure was almost palpable, making Qin Yue want to blurt out his true thoughts.
Or perhaps, this wasn't just mental pressure, but some ability of a Divine Intent Realm Martial Artist to see through people's hearts.
Fortunately, when Qin Yue was about to give in, he chose to go AFK, completely entrusting his body to the System. If not for that, Qin Yue believed he would have certainly given a different answer.
This was also the reason why Qin Yue made no movements throughout the entire process!
“It seems I've managed to muddle through?”
Qin Yue thought to himself.
Actually, he had no intention of deceiving his Master. His words about “Medicine Refining for all under heaven” were just a random excuse he found.
Unexpectedly, this statement seemed to touch upon some memory of his Master, perfectly aligning with his Master's spirit and stirring his Master's emotions.
At that point, the situation was completely out of Qin Yue's control. If he had said that he had made it all up, being expelled from the sect would have been the least of his worries; who knew what other consequences there might have been.
“Thankfully, I still have the System; it saved my life!”
Qin Yue felt fortunate in his heart.
After he had completely calmed down, Qin Yue put away the teapot and returned to his dwelling.
The night passed without incident, and in the blink of an eye, it was the morning of the next day.
After breakfast, his Master called everyone together, “Everyone, follow me to the Ancestral Master Hall. Jiang Shang, arrange the incense altar. I am going to inform the Ancestral Master and accept Qin Yue as a formal Disciple!”
Everyone was very surprised. Wasn't Qin Yue just accepted as a Named Disciple by his Master yesterday? How was he going to become a formal Disciple today?
One must know that even among the five of them, Jiang Shang, who was his Master's favorite, only transitioned to a formal Disciple three months after being accepted.
However, no one objected to his Master's decision. Everyone just gave Qin Yue a strange look and then went to the Ancestral Master Hall with his Master.
When his Master led Qin Yue and the other Disciples into the Ancestral Master Hall, Senior Brother Jiang Shang had already prepared the incense altar.
The Ancestral Master Hall was simply arranged but solemn and dignified. His Master faced the Ancestral Master's portrait enshrined in the center of the Ancestral Master Hall, while all the Disciples stood in two rows on either side.
Senior Brother Jiang Shang distributed three sticks of incense to each person and then joined the Disciple's queue himself.
Once Senior Brother Jiang Shang joined the queue, everyone followed his Master in raising their incense sticks.
“Yan Zhongyi, sixth-generation successor of the Holy Sect Pill Refining Peak, upholds the Holy Dao and widely accepts Disciples.
Today, there is a young man, Qin Yue, who possesses both virtue and martial prowess, and a pure Heart-Nature. I now wish to accept him as a third-generation Disciple of the Pill Refining Peak Chaoyang Cave.
I humbly pray for the Ancestral Master's protection, to bestow upon him wisdom, eliminate demons, and bring glory to the Human Race.”
After his Master completed his prayer to the Ancestral Master, he inserted the incense sticks into the incense burner and then turned to face the Disciples.
Qin Yue followed his Senior Brothers in inserting the incense sticks into the incense burner and then stood at the end of the queue.
Only after all the Disciples had offered incense to the Ancestral Master did his Master speak.
“Perhaps all of you are wondering why I am accepting Qin Yue as a formal Disciple so quickly.
I want to tell you all, it's because I see in Qin Yue the original intention of the Medicine Sage Ancestor in establishing the Pill Refining Peak!”
“You have all heard me speak of the deeds of the Three Saints in establishing the Holy Sect. Today, with Qin Yue's entry, you shall hear it again!”
“A thousand years ago, all of the Human Race lived under the rule of demons. Because the Human Race was naturally spiritual, the demons' favorite food was the Human Race.
At that time, the Human Race was kept by demons, constantly required to offer faith, flesh and blood, and even their children. Everyone lived in constant peril.
It wasn't until the Three Saints emerged, resisted the Demon Emperor, and established the Holy Sect, that the Human Race enjoyed its current prosperous era.
Within a ten-thousand-mile radius of the Holy Mountain, the Human Race is supreme, and demons can no longer treat the Human Race as livestock.
But do you know, beyond ten thousand miles of the Holy Mountain, the Human Race is still food for demons. There are still countless Human Race compatriots struggling in Hell.
Therefore, when we Martial Artists Cultivate, we should not only think about becoming strong ourselves, but also about the entire Human Race, how to free more Human Race compatriots from the clutches of demons.
Last night, I originally intended to guide Qin Yue in his future Cultivation, but I unexpectedly heard him say, 'I want to refine Medicinal Pills for all Martial Artists under heaven.'
This statement enlightened me. Isn't this the best interpretation of our Pill Refining Peak Ancestral Master's spirit of dedication to the Human Race?
That is why today I am accepting him as my formal Disciple, to Cultivate him well, to become a spark that inherits the spirit of the Medicine Sage.”
Qin Yue listened very attentively to the first part; this was the first time he had learned the true nature of this world. Before, in Shiqiao Village and in the Martial Academy, Qin Yue had never heard anyone mention these things.
However, his Master's later words made Qin Yue almost cringe with embarrassment.
Although Qin Yue considered himself not a bad person, as a Transmigrator from modern times, he had a common ailment shared by most modern people: selfishness.
He felt that it was enough for him not to actively harm others, and he had no intention of actively helping others.
But perhaps Qin Yue's impassioned speech last night was misunderstood by his Master, who praised him so highly in front of all his Senior Brothers that he felt he was being put on the spot.
Yet, Qin Yue was helpless now. He dared not refute his Master and could only accept this persona of a person with great righteousness.
After his Master finished speaking, everyone's eyes on Qin Yue changed. Even in this world, thinking more about oneself was the mindset of most people.
But just because they couldn't do it themselves, it didn't stop them from admiring those who could. They never expected this ordinary Junior Brother to be a Saint with the Human Race in his heart!
These Senior Brothers, of course, would not doubt the truthfulness of his Master's words, because they knew his Master's abilities.
His Master had the ability to judge whether a person's words were sincere.
Some had tried to lie in front of his Master, but as long as his Master looked at them seriously, they would explain the truth in detail.
Seeing this situation, Qin Yue could only step forward and say a few words, “Senior Brothers, I am not as noble as Master says. It's just that I came from a small mountain village and witnessed the helplessness of ordinary people in the face of natural and man-made disasters, and also the difficulty of Martial Artists Cultivating.
There, if it weren't for the help of Master Zhao, I would not have been able to leave the village, nor enter the Martial Academy. I might have spent my entire life farming, and my life would have ended unexpectedly at some unknown time.
Later, when I came to the Martial Academy to study, I met several teachers who helped me greatly. I was just an ordinary student and had no relation to them, but they helped me without expecting anything in return and cared for me immensely.
The one who cared for me the most was my Alchemy Teacher, who is also our Master's cousin, Teacher Yan. He spent his own money and effort to help me improve my Medicinal Pills, helped me with Body Refining and completing Guiding Poison into the Body, and also recommended me to our Master.
So, when I told Master last night that I wanted to refine Medicinal Pills for all Martial Artists under heaven, it wasn't because I myself was so noble, but because I was able to grow and enjoyed so much help from those around me. I just wanted to pass on this help to more people!”
