66: Choosing a method

“Strength is respected?

If strength is truly respected, then why did the Three Sages resist the demons? If strength is truly respected, then why do the strong fight for the weak?

This Senior’s ideological Realm is not high enough!”

Qin Yue complained inwardly, but his face showed nothing, “Senior, does Holy Mountain offer any special treatment to us Ninggang Realm Martial Artists participating in the competition? Like Secret Manuals, contribution points, Medicinal Pills, or anything else?”

The White-robed female martial artist looked at Qin Yue with surprise, which was the first expression she had shown in front of him.

Perhaps she hadn't expected a Martial Artist to actively ask for benefits in the face of such a great cause for the Human Race.

“Of course there’s special treatment. Before participating, you can go to the Holy Mountain Martial Repository to claim a Cultivation Technique. After participating, there will be rewards of contribution points, Cultivation Techniques, and Medicinal Pills. You can even request an audience with the Three Sages and ask them to grant you one wish.”

After hearing the reward conditions, Qin Yue lowered his head and pondered.

“The rewards are indeed generous, but I’m afraid I won’t live to claim them!

This kind of confrontation mission is a life-or-death battle. I don’t know what Holy Mountain’s success rate was in the past.

However, I estimate the success rate is average. If the success rate were high, then it wouldn’t be three people from Holy Mountain and five from the demons now.”

Of course, Qin Yue thought this in his heart, but he would absolutely not show it on his face.

“As a Disciple of Holy Mountain, even without rewards, it is my bounden duty for the future of the Human Race! My recent inquiry about the reward conditions was not out of greed for these things, but to increase my strength more quickly and better complete the Small World confrontation mission.”

The Female Martial Artist was noncommittal, simply waving her hand to make the map on the wall disappear, and asked Qin Yue, “Do you have any other questions? If not, I will return.

In half a year, someone will pick you up here to go to the Small World.”

Seeing that the Female Martial Artist was about to leave, Qin Yue quickly asked, “Senior, if I want to find records of previous confrontation missions, where can I find them?”

“These records are the privacy of each Martial Artist, detailing their respective abilities, so only they themselves have them. If you want them, you’ll have to ask them directly!”

After speaking, the Female Martial Artist disappeared as silently as she had arrived.

Qin Yue was certain it wasn’t invisibility, nor was it a speed so fast that Qin Yue couldn’t react.

She simply vanished into thin air, fleetingly.

Seeing the Female Martial Artist disappear like that, he put away some of the impatience from his Breakthrough to the Ninggang Realm.

It seemed he still couldn't be content with the status quo; this world still held too many unsolved mysteries for him.

When Qin Yue arrived at the Martial Repository, he saw that the guard of the Martial Repository was a white-bearded old man.

This was his first time at the Martial Repository; before, he had always studied the Secret Manuals arranged by his teacher in Chaoyang Cave.

The old man guarding the door perfectly fit Qin Yue’s fantasy of a reclusive master of the Martial Repository.

So Qin Yue was extremely respectful to the old man. He stepped forward, bowed to the old man, and then asked,

“Senior, this Junior wishes to enter the Martial Repository to select a Secret Manual. What is the procedure?”

The old man looked up at Qin Yue and took out a black box from under the table.

Seeing the familiar black box, Qin Yue, without waiting for the old man to speak, handed over his identity token.

The old man placed the identity token into the black box. After a moment, the black box opened automatically, and a piece of paper appeared in the black box along with the identity token.

The old man picked up the paper and read it.

“You have the authority to choose a Ninggang Realm Martial Skill. Tell me your requirements for the Martial Skill!”

“Requirements?”

Qin Yue hadn't expected to need to search for Martial Skills based on conditions, and he hadn't yet thought about what requirements he had for a Martial Skill.

“May I have a catalog of Ninggang Realm Martial Skills? I don’t know what kind of Martial Skills I can choose, so I need to refer to a catalog.”

“Catalog? There’s no such thing here!

If you don't know what to choose yourself, then I'll ask you!

Do you want to choose our Pill Refining Peak's Qi Gang Martial arts study or the Martial arts study of other Peaks?”

Hearing that he could choose Martial arts study from other Peaks, Qin Yue wanted to see the catalog even more.

He believed that even with just a Martial arts study name, he could gain something, because most Martial Artists' Martial arts study names contained their Martial arts study ideas.

Unfortunately, there was no catalog here!

When he first saw him, the old gatekeeper had the demeanor of a reclusive master, but now, the more he looked, the more he seemed like an old man who had been grinding out seniority in a public institution until he was almost retired.

Qin Yue felt that when he one day had a say at Pill Refining Peak, he would definitely reform the Martial Repository to make it more convenient for Martial Artists to choose Martial arts study.

There was no other way; Qin Yue was not yet a high-ranking member of Pill Refining Peak, so he could only obey the rules!

“I want to choose Qi Gang Martial arts study.”

The Protective Aura Qin Yue condensed in the Ninggang Realm was Qi Gang, so Qi Gang Martial arts study would be most effective for him.

“Ranged or close combat?”

“Ranged.”

Qin Yue considered for a moment. Close combat was something Pill Refining Peak Martial Artists tried to avoid. If it came to a point where close combat was necessary, he would rather trust a sword than Qi Gang Martial arts study.

“Control or damage?”

“Control.”

This was Qin Yue’s consideration that he needed to cooperate with his Senior Brothers from Martial Peak and Sword Peak. In terms of attack, no matter how he Cultivated, he couldn't compare to his Sword Peak Senior Brother, so it was better to strengthen his control abilities to provide assistance to his Sword Peak Senior Brother.

“I’ve reviewed your information. Combining it with your choices, there are three Cultivation Techniques here that better meet your needs.

The first is Thousand Thread Guiding Qi Skill. This Cultivation Technique can condense Protective Aura into invisible threads, using the threads to entangle objects. At advanced levels, one can even manipulate objects from a distance like a Puppet master using these threads.

The second is Wandering Dragon Qi Binding Scripture, which transforms Protective Aura into Dragon-shaped chains to bind enemies. These chains are tougher than the threads of Thousand Thread Guiding Qi Skill and can be controlled independently of the Martial Artist. The drawback is that their maneuverability is not as good as the threads of Thousand Thread Guiding Qi Skill.

The third is Azure Nether Soul Capturing Curse. This Cultivation Technique is the most mysterious and extremely difficult to master. It uses Qi Gang to envelop the enemy, emitting vibrations that cause the enemy to resonate with the Qi Gang, thereby achieving the effect of controlling the enemy.

Which Cultivation Technique do you want to choose?”

Qin Yue, of course, wanted to choose all of them!

All three of these Cultivation Techniques were very suitable for him!

The first two Cultivation Techniques both involved Protective Aura forming a physical entity to bind enemies, both meeting Qin Yue's basic needs.

Although the threads formed by the first Cultivation Technique were not as strong in binding as the chains of the second Cultivation Technique, if Qin Yue had to choose, he would choose the first one.

Because his goal was to cooperate with Sword Peak Martial Artists, he believed that as long as he controlled the enemy for an instant, the Sword Cultivator Martial Artist could kill the enemy.

Although the third Cultivation Technique was not as good as the first two in terms of control, it seemed more tailor-made for Qin Yue.

Because Qin Yue’s Super-Sense state inherently involved perceiving vibrations, learning this Cultivation Technique with his perception ability in vibrations would surely be effortless.

Moreover, if Qin Yue could thoroughly understand the effects of resonance through this Cultivation Technique, then Qin Yue believed it would also promote his Super-Sense state.
