198: Chapter 198 Wind Energy

The border of the Chiyun Kingdom, the foothills of Windcloud Mountain.

Chi Wanhe focused her mind and calmed her breath; a faint green luster flickered at her fingertips. But soon, her willow-like brows furrowed.

No matter how she circulated her spiritual power to try and resonate with the rhythm of the wind, the surrounding air remained indifferent, offering no response.

The green light at her fingertips flickered a few times before dimming, and the breeze she had quietly gathered instantly dissipated.

Chi Wanhe opened her eyes, a flash of confusion crossing them.

“Eh?”

Beside her, Xia Yingying watched curiously. Subconsciously, she mimicked Chi Wanhe, closing her eyes and opening her mind to sense the surroundings.

Buzz!

A layer of warm, jade-white radiance instantly flowed out, enveloping her entire body.

Boom!

The majestic Aura of the second level of the Nascent Soul Stage (originally second level Golden Core, boosted by the Sect Domain) erupted from Xia Yingying’s petite frame.

As her Aura erupted, the once elusive and strange astral winds in the sky seemed to be drawn in, gathering frantically toward Xia Yingying.

The wind intensified, letting out a sharp howl.

Feeling a sudden inspiration, Xia Yingying flipped her right hand, and the lotus sword appeared in her grasp. She gave a light stroke toward an inconspicuous small hill in the distance!

An invisible Sword Qi, carrying violent wind-attribute energy, tore through the air.

In the distance, as the Sword Qi landed, the small hill instantly shattered into earth and stone, and a cloud of dust shot into the sky.

When the dust settled, the top of the entire hill had been sliced off, leaving behind a massive, mirror-smooth cross-section.

Judging by Xia Yingying’s effortless manner, she had clearly held back.

“Hiss—!”

The several Cultivators from the third-grade Sect, including the middle-aged man leading them, all gasped in shock, their eyes nearly popping out of their heads.

Ye Qinglan’s mass slaughter earlier had already amazed them, but now this seemingly naive little girl had displayed the power to move mountains and fill seas with a casual strike?!

As expected of a Moonshadow Sect Disciple, terrifyingly formidable!

A brilliant light flickered in Chi Wanhe’s beautiful eyes, her surprise even greater than the others. She immediately turned to Zhao Hongyi and Ye Qinglan behind her:

“Hongyi, Qinglan, you try!”

Hearing this, Zhao Hongyi and Ye Qinglan immediately followed suit.

However, the result was no different from Chi Wanhe’s. No matter how hard they tried, how pure their spiritual power, or how powerful their Divine Thought, that strange wind-attribute power remained insulated from them, showing no reaction.

The other accompanying Moonshadow Sect Disciples also tried one by one, but without exception, they all failed to trigger it.

Chi Wanhe’s gaze turned back to the shaken middle-aged man, her eyes filled with inquiry.

The middle-aged man waved his hands repeatedly in fear, his face pale:

“Fairy, please understand! I have not uttered a single word of falsehood! The method of triggering it is exactly as I said!”

He looked at Xia Yingying with eyes full of awe and confusion,

“It’s just that we don’t know why this little Fairy can trigger it, and... the power triggered is so... this is beyond my ability to explain!”

Chi Wanhe nodded slightly; she naturally understood that the middle-aged man wasn't lying. The problem likely wasn't with the method, but rather a deeper reason.

Perhaps it was a Physique, or... some kind of special connection? Her gaze fell on Xia Yingying again, who was staring blankly at the destruction she had caused, her small mouth slightly agape as if she were also startled.

“No matter, this has nothing to do with you.”

Chi Wanhe composed her thoughts, took several bottles of high-quality healing Medicinal Pills from her storage ring, and tossed them to the middle-aged man. “These are healing pills. Take them and leave this place quickly.”

“Thank you, Fairy! Thank you, Fairy!” The middle-aged man acted as if he had been granted a great amnesty, and after showering them with gratitude, he and his subordinates quickly departed.

Seven days later.

Chiyun Kingdom, Flowing Wind Valley.

Inside the Flowing Wind Sect, the atmosphere was oppressive.

The Sect Master of the Flowing Wind Sect, an old man at the Early Stage of the Nascent Soul Stage, was bowing before several powerful Cultivators, his forehead drenched in sweat and his body trembling slightly.

A youth dressed in magnificent silken robes looked on impatiently, his face wearing an unabashed arrogance. A man and a woman stood by his side, their gazes equally condescending and scrutinizing.

Behind them followed several Soul Transformation Stage guards, along with an old man whose Aura was profound and deep.

“Old thing!”

Di Wenlong spoke with a vicious tone,

“Stop playing games with this Young Lord! Speak! Why can’t we trigger that damned wind-attribute energy? Is it because you small Sects are hiding some secret technique and intentionally refusing to offer it up?”

“I’ve been wronged, Young Lord Di!”

The Flowing Wind Sect Master’s voice trembled. “How would I dare hide anything! This... this wind-attribute energy, just as the rumors say, only began to permeate three months ago after the spatial rift appeared.”

“This power covers a vast area, encompassing the entire Chiyun Kingdom and even several neighboring countries! As for the method of triggering it, what I know is no different from what is circulating outside: to calm one’s mind, sense the rhythm in the wind, and use spiritual power to resonate and draw it in...”

“As for why you noble guests cannot trigger it, I... I truly do not know!”

A dignified Nascent Soul Stage expert, an old man, looked as if he were about to burst into tears.

“You don’t know?”

A flash of ferocity appeared in Di Wenlong’s eyes, and he suddenly released his Soul Transformation Stage pressure, crushing down on the Flowing Wind Sect Master like a mountain!

“I think you’re tired of living!”

The Flowing Wind Sect Master felt as if he had been struck by a heavy blow. He let out a muffled groan, his face turned deathly pale, and his knees buckled as he prepared to fall to the floor!

“Young Lord, please calm your anger.”

The old man standing beside Di Wenlong spoke up at the right moment. “The Third Old Ancestor instructed that since this is the Chiyun Kingdom after all, it is not advisable for us to cause too much trouble on this trip.”

“Hmph!”

With a cold snort, the Nascent Soul old man spat out a mouthful of blood and stumbled back several steps.

Di Wenlong was clearly frustrated by the inability to kill at will. He waved his hand irritably:

“Get out of my sight! You’re annoying to look at!”

Just then, dozens of streaks of light descended from the horizon; it was Chi Wanhe and the others.

The signature attire of Moonshadow Sect Core Disciples made Di Wenlong’s eyes instantly light up.

The arrogance and ferocity on his face vanished as if he were changing masks, replaced by a somewhat decent smile. He took a step forward and cupped his hands:

“So it is Fairy Chi and Fairy Xia of the Moonshadow Sect! What a pleasure! I am Di Wenlong of the Wanxian Dynasty. I am handling some minor matters here and did not expect to run into you two Fairies.”

Chi Wanhe’s gaze swept indifferently over Di Wenlong and the others behind him, including Fu Tiansong and Gan Wenzhu; her eyes remained calm and undisturbed.

She completely ignored Di Wenlong’s attempt at conversation and walked straight to the shaken Flowing Wind Sect Master, asking,

“Regarding the wind-attribute energy permeating this place, have you made any new discoveries? Or do you have more detailed clues regarding its source?”

Seeing that they were Moonshadow Sect Disciples, the Flowing Wind Sect Master acted as if he had caught a life-saving straw and hurriedly bowed to answer. His response was almost identical to what he had told Di Wenlong and what the middle-aged man at Windcloud Mountain had said:

“Reporting to the Fairy, there truly are no new discoveries. The source remains unknown, only that it appeared alongside the spatial rift and covers a vast area. The method of triggering it is...”

After listening, Chi Wanhe understood. It seemed the clues ended here as well. She said no more, gave a slight nod to the Flowing Wind Sect Master, and then turned to leave with Xia Yingying and the other Moonshadow Sect Disciples, transforming into streaks of light. From beginning to end, she never looked at Di Wenlong again.

The smile on Di Wenlong’s face froze. As he watched Chi Wanhe’s departing back, a flash of sinister anger crossed his eyes, though he forcibly suppressed it.

Fu Tiansong and Gan Wenzhu exchanged a glance and remained silent.
