469: Chapter 469 Moonlit Dream, Daiyu Style

Tianyuan Floating Island, Lingshuang Pavilion.

The night was like water; moonlight spilled through the carved window lattices into the pavilion, spreading a sheet of silvery white across the bluestone floor.

When Ling Hao pushed the door open to enter, Yu Lingshuang was sitting alone by the window, holding a copy of "Moonshadow Dream" in her hands.

She looked up and, seeing who it was, a flash of brightness crossed her eyes; but she immediately lowered her lashes, concealing that spark of joy and replacing it with an expression tinged with a hint of resentment.

"I wondered who it was; so it is the Sect Master."

She set the book on the table.

"I thought you had become so happy in the outer Baiyan Prefecture that you'd forgotten to return, bringing back a few more sisters; I imagine you've been enjoying yourself, holding them in your arms. What is it? Have you finally remembered which way the door to Lingshuang Pavilion opens today? I thought you had long since forgotten this door."

Ling Hao raised an eyebrow, leaned against the doorframe with his arms crossed, and said nothing, just watching her with a smile.

Seeing him like this, Yu Lingshuang averted her gaze to the window and said wistfully:

"In any case, I am just like a cat or a dog to you; when you think of me, you come to tease me a little; when you don't, you go off to find other sisters to enjoy yourself with. In this entire Moonshadow Sect, with all its beauties, who isn't more interesting than me?"

"It's just that in my spare time, I often think of what the Sect Master said that year—about 'long days ahead' and 'never letting go'."

"Perhaps those were just words spoken to comfort me. If I took them seriously, wouldn't that be the biggest joke? It's fine, I won't take them seriously. It's just that Lingshuang Pavilion should be built further away from Haoran Tower to make room for the newcomers."

Ling Hao stared at her for a long while, the corners of his mouth slowly curling up.

Oh, a little resentful wife. How cute.

"Then you have worked hard,"

he said, turning to leave, "I won't disturb you."

Yu Lingshuang froze, the resentment on her Face instantly stiffening.

She quickly opened her mouth to say something, but only managed to let out a very faint "Hey—".

Ling Hao had already vanished outside the door.

Yu Lingshuang bit her lower lip, feeling both anxious and annoyed.

Didn't she just want him to coax her a little more?

This routine—wasn't it written clearly in the "Moonshadow Dream" circulating within the Sect? Shouldn't he have played along, then come over to hold her and say a few intimate words?

She really was a bit resentful and wanted to use this as an excuse to make him cherish her more. But how... how could he really just leave?

Was she really no longer likable? Or should she act like she was frail and sick too?

Ling Hao, hiding his presence, watched that mournful and sorrowful little expression,

"Tsk tsk, she's got that Lin Daiyu vibe now."

Inside the chamber, Yu Lingshuang thought about how she had been with him from the very beginning, yet now he just walked away.

Her nose tingled, her eyes turned slightly red, and she reached up to rub the corners of her eyes, muttering under her breath:

"Forget it, forget it. In any case, I'm the one without a conscience—he walked away so readily, without even looking back."

Before her words had faded, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind.

Yu Lingshuang stiffened, then caught the familiar scent of fresh vegetation.

A stone in her heart landed, but she refused to soften her tongue, twisting her body:

"Why has the Sect Master come back? What is it? Was the wind outside too strong, making your feet hurt, or did the other sisters not leave a door open for you?"

Ling Hao rested his chin in the hollow of her shoulder, chuckling softly:

"What is it? If I really left, would you be unhappy again?"

"No. How would this concubine dare?"

Yu Lingshuang turned her Face away, her voice becoming more coquettish and lazy,

"You are busy with ten thousand affairs every day, with so many sisters outside waiting for your favor; what am I, just some onion or garlic? If you really left, I would just cry my heart out, what does that matter?"

Ling Hao muffled a laugh, turning her body around to Face him directly.

Yu Lingshuang lowered her lashes to avoid looking at him, though her hands quietly gripped his lapels.

She was wearing a moon-white thin gauze nightgown today; the fabric was as light as nothing, with only a silk sash tied loosely around her waist.

During her struggle just now, one side of the garment had slipped off her shoulder, revealing a section of jade-white shoulder and neck, with her soft bosom half-exposed; the full curves glowed with a warm luster under the candlelight.

Beneath the thin gauze, her long, full leg lines were vaguely visible, and the cinnabar tear mole at the corner of her left eye was particularly striking under the light, set off by her slightly reddened eye rims, giving her an air that made one pity her.

Ling Hao's gaze fell on the slipped garment, and he reached out to tug it gently, causing the nightgown to slide down further, exposing a large expanse of snow-white skin to the air.

"Old shoulders, slippery as silk."

Ling Hao chuckled softly, his right hand gently stroking her shoulder,

"You're over five thousand years old, and yet you still know how to act so well."

Yu Lingshuang's ears grew hot, and she looked up, her watery, shimmering eyes glaring at him:

"What is it? Does the Sect Master think I'm old? Then go find those eighteen-year-old girls; why bother provoking an old hag like me who is over five thousand years old? I only occupy the status of having come first; how can I compare to the freshness of the newcomers?"

Ling Hao lowered his head and kissed her slightly pouting lips.

Yu Lingshuang closed her eyes, her hands climbing onto his shoulders, her fingertips tightening.

The candlelight flickered gently.

The thin gauze nightgown was pushed down to her waist, the moon-white fabric piling up on her full waist and hips like a blooming white lotus.

The gauze curtains fell, and the shadows in the tent intertwined.

"Just now when I pretended to leave, were you resentful of me in your heart?"

Ling Hao's voice came from inside the tent, low and hoarse, carrying a smile.

"How would I dare to resent you?"

Yu Lingshuang's voice was intermittent,

"It was just... just speaking a few words casually, and you wanted to leave; it makes it seem like I don't know what's good for me. In any case, with this mouth of mine, whatever I say is wrong..."

"Afterwards, I will find a way so you don't have to keep worrying about these Sect affairs."

The tent was silent for a moment, then Yu Lingshuang's voice came:

"Is what you said true? You aren't just coaxing me for fun, are you? Don't say 'I forgot, I forgot' later, leaving me with empty joy all by myself."

"It's true. Afterwards, you won't have to work so hard dealing with affairs. Does that feel good?"

"...It feels good."

The voice was so low it was almost inaudible, but the final syllable rose slightly.

"Hmm? I can't hear you. Louder. Does it feel good?"

"...It feels good."

The second sound was lighter than the first, yet more lingering, as if it spilled from the depths of her throat.

Outside the window, the moonlight was like water; fragmented sounds came and went, swaying with the candlelight for a long time.

...

The candlelight illuminated the deep tooth marks on Ling Hao's shoulders and back.

Yu Lingshuang lay softly against Ling Hao's chest, the thin quilt covering only up to her waist.

Her fingertips traced circles on his chest:

"A few days ago, the Golden Crow Holy Land sent a fool over. I followed your previous reply and rejected them."

Ling Hao's fingers combed through her hair, asking nonchalantly: "Oh? Who came?"

"A Saintess and an Elder."

Yu Lingshuang looked up, resting her chin on his chest,

"According to the news sent back by Revered Master and Senior Sister Linglong, that Saintess is just a figurehead. With the Golden Crow Holy Land's Mahayana Old Ancestor not appearing, the one with the most power is that Saint at the Void Refinement Stage; even their Sect Master and other Supreme Elders have to give him some Face. Sending a Saintess with no status is pure lack of sincerity."

"Did that Elder Zhu from the Dingding Ceremony not come?" Ling Hao asked.

"He was the accompanying Elder." Yu Lingshuang pouted. "He was sensible, though; he kept apologizing."

Ling Hao nodded: "Have they gone back?"

"They are still in Tianyuan Capital City."

Yu Lingshuang suddenly propped herself up, her twin peaks swaying, and she looked at Ling Hao suspiciously,

"Why is the Sect Master asking this? Don't tell me you're going to see them?"

"I am preparing to go."

Yu Lingshuang's eyes turned, and her tone became sour again:

"You haven't been back long, and you're going to Tianyuan Capital City again? I was wondering; there are quite a few people waiting there."

"That group of Elders and Disciples in the Tianyuan Immortal Dynasty must be waiting with bated breath. Is the Sect Master going over to spread your favor? You certainly distribute your grace evenly, not neglecting anyone."

"That's right, although I think that Saintess is a bit stupid, her Face is quite beautiful. With this trip, I'm afraid the Sect Master is going to 'take' her, right? In any case, I am no longer fresh; it is only right for you to seek out someone else who is pretty."

Ling Hao: "..."

"I am going to do serious business."

"Oh, it is this concubine who spoke too much. If you can turn her, wouldn't the secrets of the Golden Crow Holy Land be as clear as if the bridal veil had been lifted? As expected of the Sect Master, everything you do is serious business; only I, a petty person, insist on thinking of crooked things."

Ling Hao gave her bottom a light pat.

Yu Lingshuang covered the place that was hit, the tear mole at the corner of her eye slightly flushed, and she said softly and coquettishly:

"This concubine understands; serious business. Everything is serious business; in any case, only I am not serious. You go, go; don't worry about me. I will just stay here in Lingshuang Pavilion and slowly endure it."

"You really are asking for a spanking!"

Ling Hao really couldn't help it anymore; he turned over, and the gauze curtains fell once again.

The night wind slipped in through the half-open carved window lattices, brushing over the unclosed Daoist scripture on the table.

The pages flipped gently, the faint rustling sound coming and going.

The sounds from inside the tent came one after another, gradually blending into the rustling of the book pages in the night wind.
