129: High Cold School Prince Forced Love 13
Soon, the college entrance examination arrived.
Lin Xi's matter was just a small interlude; after it passed, no one paid it any mind.
When the bell rang, signaling the end of the last subject, Wen Ci's pencil drew the final period on her answer sheet.
Outside the window, cicadas buzzed deafeningly, and sunlight streamed through the gaps in the exam room curtains, dancing on her desk like scattered gold.
She gently exhaled; three years of high school had finally come to an end at this moment.
“Candidates, stop writing.”
The invigilator’s voice reached her, and Wen Ci subconsciously looked back towards the window. Shen Mo’s exam room was in the adjacent teaching building; he must have already handed in his paper.
As she took her phone and left the teaching building, her phone vibrated in her pocket.
【Waiting for you under the sycamore tree at the school gate】
The brief nine characters were typical of Shen Mo's style.
Wen Ci's lips curved upwards unconsciously, and her steps became a little lighter.
However, she was still startled by the suddenly surging crowd.
Cheers, cries, and the sound of tearing books intertwined, making the entire campus seem like a pot of boiling water.
She carefully navigated through the crowd and soon spotted Shen Mo leaning against the trunk of the iconic sycamore tree, looking at his phone.
Today, he wore a simple white shirt, with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing his well-defined forearms.
Sunlight filtered through the sycamore leaves, casting dappled light on him, making him look like a meticulously composed oil painting.
“Dr. Shen!” Wen Ci jogged over, her hair flying in the wind.
Dr. Shen looked up, his eyes curving slightly behind his glasses.
He reached out to catch the girl who rushed towards him, pulling her into his embrace, “How did you do on the exam?”
“Not bad!” Wen Ci looked up, her eyes sparkling, “That last solid geometry problem was so similar to the one you explained to me last night!”
Dr. Shen chuckled, his fingertips tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear, “Hmm, I guessed so.”
“Ah?” Wen Ci was startled, “You couldn’t have… ”
“It wasn’t leaking questions.” Dr. Shen pinched her nose, “I just studied the preferences of the exam setters.”
Wen Ci was about to retort when she suddenly noticed something different about Dr. Shen today.
His usually meticulous collar had two buttons undone, revealing a hint of his collarbone; he also didn't carry his usual cool cedar scent, only a clean, sun-kissed aroma.
“What are you looking at?” Dr. Shen raised an eyebrow.
Wen Ci’s ear tips grew warm, and she quickly averted her gaze, “N-nothing… Where are we going? My classmates said there’s a dinner gathering tonight…”
“We’ll go later.” Dr. Shen took her hand, “First, I’m taking you somewhere.”
Before Wen Ci could react, she was pulled into a black luxury car.
The unfamiliar man in the driver's seat nodded politely to her, then raised the partition between the front and back seats.
“This is…”
“My family’s driver.” Dr. Shen pressed a button, and the car windows immediately turned into opaque frosted glass, “Want to sleep for a bit? You stayed up too late studying last night.”
Wen Ci was indeed a little sleepy, but she was more concerned about Dr. Shen’s unusual behavior.
He was impossibly gentle today; even his voice was a few degrees lower than usual, as if he was afraid of disturbing something.
The car drove for about half an hour, finally stopping below a high-rise apartment building Wen Ci had never been to.
The elevator went straight to the top floor. When Dr. Shen took out his key and opened the door, Wen Ci’s eyes widened in surprise.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, the entire city was visible. The sun was setting in the west, painting the clouds a brilliant golden-red, and the distant horizon seemed to be on fire.
“This is…”
“My apartment.” Dr. Shen wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder, “To be precise, it’s ours.”
Wen Ci’s heart skipped a beat, “What do you mean?”
Dr. Shen didn't answer immediately but led her to the center of the living room.
Only then did Wen Ci notice a delicate cake on the coffee table, surrounded by several photo albums.
“Eat something first.” Dr. Shen cut a small piece of cake and brought it to her lips, “You didn’t eat properly at noon.”
The moment the cream melted on her tongue, Wen Ci’s nose suddenly stung.
She hadn't expected Dr. Shen to remember such a small detail. She had indeed only hastily eaten half a slice of bread this morning before the exam due to nervousness.
“What are these?” She pointed to the photo albums.
Dr. Shen opened the first one; it was full of Wen Ci's photos: her profile sleeping in class, her figure running at the sports meet, and even her middle school graduation photo with pigtails.
“You… where did you…”
“Some were secretly taken,” Dr. Shen said calmly, “Some were bought.”
“Bought?!”
“Mm.” Dr. Shen pointed to her middle school photo, “Bought from your school’s photography club.”
Wen Ci’s cheeks flushed. This person was too… She suddenly realized something, “You, you, you… ”
Dr. Shen closed the photo album and suddenly knelt on one knee.
This action completely froze Wen Ci.
She watched Dr. Shen take a velvet box from his pocket, her breathing almost stopping.
He wasn’t going to propose, was he?! They had just graduated from high school!
“Wen Ci.” Dr. Shen’s voice was a little hoarse, “Be my girlfriend.”
The box opened, revealing an exquisite, luxurious necklace.
Wen Ci was moved, “I do.”
Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, the last ray of sunset sank below the horizon, and the city lights lit up one after another.
Dr. Shen stood up and leaned down to kiss her lips, gently yet forcefully, as if declaring a certain ownership.
“Now,” he chuckled, resting his forehead against hers, “I can openly tell everyone that you are mine.”
Wen Ci nodded, blushing, and suddenly remembered something, “Then… that tie…”
“Hm?”
“The one you forced me to wear before…” Wen Ci mumbled softly, “Can I return it to you now?”
Dr. Shen’s eyes darkened, and he suddenly picked her up in his arms, “No rush.”
“Eh?! Wait! Dr. Shen!”
“Calling me by my name now?” Dr. Shen raised an eyebrow, “Didn't you always respectfully call me ‘Dr. Shen’ before?”
Wen Ci angrily pounded his shoulder, “Put me down!”
“No.” Dr. Shen strode towards the bedroom, “Since you’re already my girlfriend, some things need to be put on the agenda.”
“W-what things… Mmm…”
The moment the door was kicked shut, Wen Ci’s phone vibrated wildly in her bag.
The class group chat had already exploded:
【Someone saw Dr. Shen take Wen Ci away!】
【Where did they go? The dinner gathering is about to start!】
【Could it be… hehehe】
In the room, Wen Ci and Dr. Shen didn't do anything out of line; he simply held her tightly in his arms on the bed.
He lingered, inhaling her scent at her neck, feeling an unprecedented sense of peace and tranquility.
“Ci Ci, I’m so happy to have met you.”
Wen Ci gently stroked his hair, her heart also filled with happiness, and she sweetly said, “Me too.”
After they finished their sweet moments in the room, they both went to the dinner gathering, arriving just in time.
When everyone saw them arrive together, they couldn't help but cheer, “Wow, the Campus Belle and Campus Hunk are finally openly together, huh?”
