12: Brother and sister issues

After interrogating Liu Yaozong, Gao Ze went directly to the Traffic Police Center.

He knew that Captain Shen was monitoring the interrogation room, but he had no intention of hiding his micro-expression psychological analysis ability, nor did he want to hide it.

If he had strength and talent but still hid it, was he implying that his position was not low enough?

Or did he want to stay at the grassroots level his entire life?

Gao Ze had no intention of staying at the grassroots level; in officialdom, who wanted to be a subordinate commanded by others?

Moreover, the greater his talent, the more people he could influence and help. If his position were higher, he could maximize his talent to help the public.

“……”

“Captain Zhou, I have something to do this afternoon and would like to leave early.”

Upon arriving at the Traffic Police Center, Gao Ze found Captain Zhou to ask for leave.

With the intelligence system, he had more things to deal with. Besides cases, Gao Ze also wanted to solve the difficulties of his younger siblings.

So, after analyzing Xu Xiaoli’s whereabouts from Liu Yaozong’s words, he did not follow the Criminal Police Brigade to find Xu Xiaoli. It would have been good to earn some favorability from Shen Gang.

But compared to his cherished younger siblings, this bit of favorability was insignificant.

He also believed that Shen Gang, being able to become the Captain of the Criminal Police Brigade, was a person with good foresight.

“It’s fine to leave early.

But I just reported your two merits to the Director, and he was very pleased, saying he wanted to publicize them well.

Soon, colleagues from the Bureau’s Publicity Department will take your photo and post it on the official account for publicity. You just need to cooperate with them for a photo later.”

Gao Ze solved two cases in one day, and Captain Zhou didn't care at all if he wanted to leave early.

It would even be fine if he didn't come to work for the next few days.

Talented individuals naturally needed to be treated well, otherwise, what if they were snatched away by that fellow Shen Gang? He vaguely felt that Shen Gang was up to something.

Thinking of this, Captain Zhou couldn't help but curiously inquire:

“Captain Shen asked you to help interrogate Liu Yaozong. Did you get anything out of him?”

“I think so. After half an hour of reviewing the case files and asking Liu Yaozong a few questions, I guessed Xu Xiaoli was hidden in a garment factory in the western suburbs.”

“Haha, it’s good that you got something out!”

Captain Zhou patted Gao Ze’s shoulder, overjoyed.

It seemed Gao Ze was purely a lucky star, with no real talent for criminal cases, so Shen Gang probably wouldn't covet him.

For a non-professional criminal Police officer, how could half an hour be enough to clarify the case’s logic after reading a case file?

Liu Yaozong’s mouth couldn’t even be opened by the criminal Police, so it was likely false that Gao Ze extracted Xu Xiaoli’s whereabouts with just a few questions.

“By the way, this is the bank card that the wealthy Sun Chaohui gave you. He didn’t see you after returning to the Traffic Police Center, so he asked me to give it to you.”

Captain Zhou handed a bank card to Gao Ze and said:

“Sun Chaohui was very serious; he said he owed you a favor, and he also expects to hold a family reunion banquet in a few days and invited you to attend.”

“Did he invite Captain Zhou?” Gao Ze casually put the bank card into his pocket and laughed, “If he didn’t invite Captain Zhou, then I won’t go.”

“I have no connection with that wealthy person. Why would he invite a small Traffic Police Captain like me?”

Although Gao Ze spoke in a joking tone, Captain Zhou felt very comfortable hearing it and suggested:

“I think it’s better for you to attend the family reunion banquet. Sun Chaohui is an old-money tycoon in Donghai City and knows many people in both political and business circles. You helped him, so attending the banquet will be beneficial for your future development.”

“I’ll see then!”

Gao Ze couldn't be sure if he would have time. With the intelligence system, he would definitely be busy.

If he encountered a murder case or if the public was in danger, he would prioritize solving the latter. If he had free time that day, attending the family reunion banquet would also be good. Sun Chaohui owed him a favor, and developing this network would be helpful for his development.

Moreover, relying on nothing is better than relying on oneself.

Although he married Li Qingyan, until he understood Li Qingyan’s family relationships, Gao Ze would not expect a Governor as his father-in-law to help him.

What if Li Qingyan and her father had a strained relationship?

Even if they were harmonious, he still needed his own independent network and resources to be highly regarded.

“You decide!”

Captain Zhou laughed heartily and returned to his office, secretly nodding to himself. Gao Ze’s mind was very clear; he didn't just blindly rush to build connections just because he heard a wealthy person appreciated him.

In officialdom, one must have self-control, otherwise, one is just cannon fodder.

“Which comrade in your Traffic Police Brigade is Gao Ze?”

Gao Ze waited for nearly twenty minutes at the Traffic Police Center before colleagues from the Bureau’s Publicity Department finally arrived. It was a female Police officer with an impressive figure and a sharp tone, but after seeing Gao Ze’s appearance, her voice instantly became gentle.

“My name is Xu Sicheng, Officer Gao, you are so handsome!”

Stars twinkled in Xu Sicheng’s eyes, something every male officer at the Traffic Police Center could see.

“Thank you. Are the photos taken yet?”

Gao Ze felt a bit helpless. In the past, there were many girls in the Police force who had a good impression of him, but after hearing about his family situation and that he had to take care of two younger siblings, the girls lost interest.

But in the future, as he gained more and more merits, would this situation still occur?

“Just a few more. Officer Gao, with a celebrity face like yours, it’s a pity not to be our Bureau’s image spokesperson.”

Xu Sicheng clicked away, taking over a dozen more photos, growing happier with each shot. Gao Ze could only go along with it.

Police publicity is an important task, and now the Police are paying increasing attention to online publicity. Usually, when encountering models or good deeds, they will be publicized online, with importance increasing from official accounts, to Weibo and Douyin, and then to television platforms.

Gao Ze solving two, or even three, cases in one day would first be publicized on official accounts, with the audience mostly being civil servants and groups interested in government affairs.

“Very good, finished taking photos, Officer Gao, let’s exchange contact information.”

Xu Sicheng was enthusiastic and full of excitement: “I’ll send you the photos and the official account article to review beforehand.”

Gao Ze: “……”

This reason was truly impeccable; he had nothing to say.

After giving his contact information to Xu Sicheng, Gao Ze didn't look at her messages or emojis. He directly took a taxi to Donghai Music Academy, where his younger sister Xiao Hui was studying.

According to the intelligence.

His younger brother, Gao Sheng, chose to earn quick money by joining a gray industry company because of his marriage, and continuous overtime work caused his appendicitis.

He would personally help his brother Gao Sheng solve these problems after he got off work.

Gao Sheng definitely couldn't join the gray industry company again, and Gao Sheng's concern about not having enough money for treatment for his appendicitis was no longer an issue.

His younger sister, Gao Xiaohui, was different.

She didn't live at home, often staying in the Music Academy dormitory. Gao Ze knew Xiao Hui’s personality: gentle, well-behaved, and overly sensible.

She encountered a scholarship scam within the school and was also harassed by a rich second-generation heir. Gao Ze was truly worried that she might make a wrong step because of him, her poor older brother, and sacrifice herself for benefits.

Gao Ze could not accept that.

“Xiao Hui, I’m at your school gate. Come pick me up!”

Donghai City Music Academy exuded an artistic and classic aura. Red walls, tall buildings, scattered fir trees, and occasionally several white birds flying by, harmonizing with the scattered sunlight, made one feel as if they were in Donghai City of the last century, with the ancient charm of flowing golden years.

Gao Ze stood at the Music Academy gate and called his younger sister, Gao Xiaohui.

About ten minutes later.

A pure girl in a white dress flew into Gao Ze’s arms.

The students at the Music Academy gate instantly stared wide-eyed.

Wasn't that pure and bright-faced girl in the white dress Xiao Hui, the goddess in the hearts of countless male students at the school?
