26: Arrest Sun Haizhu and solve the dismemberment case

“You were the one who got Director Xu arrested and sent to prison?”

Li Qingshu looked at Gao Ze with a shocked expression.

The sight of several Police officers taking away Music Academy Department Head Director Xu in front of everyone left her deeply shaken and incredulous.

Even with her privileged background and considerable assets, she couldn't do anything to Department Head Director Xu; in fact, she had to obey him at school.

Because Director Xu held great power and had deep connections at the Music Academy, and his own rank within the education system was not low, her family was powerless against him.

But now, Gao Ze had actually sent Director Xu to prison.

It was too unbelievable!

“That was me!”

Gao Ze did not deny it, nodding calmly.

With Director Xu taken away, it seemed the City Discipline Inspection Commission and the Police had found sufficient evidence of Director Xu's corruption, and this threat, both to him and to his younger sister Gao Xiaohui, had completely vanished.

“How did you do it?”

Li Qingyan covered her small mouth with her slender hand, her throat involuntarily bobbing. She had initially thought that Gao Ze making Director Xu bow to Gao Xiaohui and hand over the scholarship was his limit.

“It's simple. I found out that Director Xu embezzled and misappropriated public funds from your school.”

Li Qingshu looked deeply at Gao Ze, remaining silent for a long while before speaking with a serious expression:

“Mr. Gao, you've surprised me greatly. I truly need to re-evaluate you!”

Gao Ze spoke lightly, but Li Qingshu understood that a mid-to-high-level figure like Director Xu, who acted domineeringly and recklessly within the academy, surely had countless rivals who wished to replace him.

But none of them had found evidence of Director Xu's illegal activities.

Gao Ze, however, was different; he found dirt on Director Xu within a single day. Such intelligence gathering ability was very, very strong.

Perhaps that statement is vague, but to put it another way.

As an investment consultant, Gao Ze might not be able to provide specific investment advice, but if he were to investigate a senior executive of a listed company and obtain detailed information, even negative information, it would be very easy for him.

Director Xu, as a department head at a 211 university like Donghai City Music Academy, held a position, influence, and power no less than a senior executive of a listed company, perhaps even greater.

“Do you now think I have the ability to be your investment consultant?”

Gao Ze felt a hint of reverence in Li Qingshu's attitude and couldn't help but smile wryly.

The intelligence gathering ability he had just demonstrated to Li Qingshu herself had been useless, almost leading him to be considered a pervert. Now, having dealt with Director Xu, Li Qingshu's attitude had changed, which surprised him.

Indeed, one must resolve the existence of powerful figures in people's minds to earn their respect. This was an unexpected bonus.

“Yes, I did harbor doubts about your profession, Mr. Gao, but your abilities exceed my imagination.”

Li Qingshu thought of the difficulties she was facing, took a deep breath, and said softly:

“I do believe you possess the intelligence gathering capabilities of an investment consultant. If you don't mind, we can sit down and discuss it in detail.”

Li Qingshu was truly worthy of her wealthy background; her demeanor and attitude upon discovering talent were impeccable to Gao Ze—graceful, sincere, gentle, and with a touch of a young girl's charm and sweetness.

Gao Ze was there to make money, so he naturally wouldn't turn down an opportunity for it. He said:

“We can discuss it in detail, but you'll have to wait for me to do one thing.”

His gaze fell on the First Cafeteria not far away. He and Li Qingshu had already walked to the cafeteria entrance. This was a deliberate guiding by Gao Ze, naturally to solve the case of Sun Haizhu's wife's murder and dismemberment.

The system's intelligence stated:

Sun Haizhu, the chef at Dongpo Meat Shop, murdered and dismembered his wife. Today, he plans to mince the body parts and mix them into pork for stir-frying and sale. This matter must be solved as quickly as possible.

Not only would it be a meritorious deed, but if the body parts were truly made into food for students, the Music Academy students would be traumatized for life.

“Is that matter more important than our detailed discussion?”

Li Qingshu frowned slightly, not at all believing that Gao Ze meeting his younger sister Gao Xiaohui was very important. When couldn't he see Gao Xiaohui?

“Of course, this is a matter of life and death.”

Gao Ze did not explain further, walking straight into the Music Academy's cafeteria. After scanning the first floor, he did not find the Dongpo Meat Shop mentioned in the system's intelligence.

“Mr. Gao, what did you say? What matter of life and death?”

Li Qingshu chased into the cafeteria, bewildered. She seemed to have misunderstood Gao Ze; the thing he needed to do was not to see his younger sister Gao Xiaohui.

“Do you have a food stall called Dongpo Meat Shop in your cafeteria?”

“I think it's on the 3rd floor of the cafeteria. I don't eat in the cafeteria often, so I don't remember clearly.”

Upon hearing this, Gao Ze immediately ran to the 3rd floor of the cafeteria. Sure enough, at the corner of the staircase, he saw a festively decorated shop. The shop's sign read “Dongpo Meat Shop” in four characters, and there was also an ancient-style cartoon logo.

Inside Dongpo Meat Shop, two young male students were cleaning bones and food scraps from the tables. Seeing Gao Ze and Li Qingshu enter, they stopped their work and looked up, saying:

“Students, our shop is already closed. If you want to eat, you'll have to wait until evening.”

“Do you want to eat here?” Li Qingshu's expression was puzzled. It was almost 2 PM, and most campus restaurants were already closed.

Why was Gao Ze rushing here to eat?

“I'm not eating. I'm looking for your boss.”

His gaze fell on the front desk cashier area, where a wide, stout middle-aged man, about 1.8 meters tall, with trembling jowls, was standing. Gao Ze guessed he was likely Sun Haizhu, the owner of Dongpo Meat Shop.

“Student, what do you need me for?”

Gao Ze was not mistaken; the wide, tall Sun Haizhu looked at him quizzically.

“To arrest you, of course!”

As Gao Ze spoke, he grabbed a nearby dining stool and threw it at Sun Haizhu's head. The two work-study male students were stunned, and Li Qingshu froze in place.

“Damn it, you bastard!”

Sun Haizhu tried to dodge but was too slow, his arm struck hard by the stool. His eyes instantly turned cold and sinister, realizing that his act of murder and dismemberment might have been exposed.

But at that moment, Gao Ze, swift as a shooting star, had already rushed in front of him and raised his fist to strike.

“You think you can hit me? Get lost!”

Seeing Gao Ze's fist coming and blocking his path, Sun Haizhu roared like a beast, extending his large, fan-like hand to grab the seemingly soft fist.

A hint of a smile appeared on his face, because with his bulk, he could easily grab Gao Ze's fist, twist his arm, and then seize the opportunity to escape.

But at the very instant their fist and palm made contact, everyone in the restaurant, including Li Qingshu, heard a crisp sound of bone cracking.

Sun Haizhu's hand went limp, and then his jaw was struck by Gao Ze's punch. The flesh on Sun Haizhu's face twitched and trembled at that moment, and his entire body flew backward, crashing heavily into the cashier counter behind him.

So fierce and terrifying!

The two young male students in the shop trembled all over at this sight, unsure whether to run or call the Police.

The thought of intervening to help didn't even cross their minds.

Fortunately, a remark from Li Qingshu eased their worries.

“Mr. Gao is a Police officer; he might be handling a case!”

Li Qingshu held her breath, not daring to look too much at the fallen shop owner, Sun Haizhu. His physique and weight were even more robust than her father's bodyguard.

She had initially thought Gao Ze would be brutally beaten, but unexpectedly, Sun Haizhu was knocked unconscious by a single punch from Gao Ze without even a scream.

“I am indeed a Police officer, and I'm handling a case.”

Gao Ze took out handcuffs and cuffed the unconscious Sun Haizhu's hands, then dialed Captain Zhou Weiguo's phone number.

He was from the Traffic Police Brigade, so naturally, he called Zhou Weiguo to report the incident. Besides, he didn't have Captain Shen Gang's phone number.

He then pulled back the curtain to the restaurant's back kitchen, intending to search for the dismembered body parts of Sun Haizhu's wife.

Unexpectedly, Li Qingshu also tiptoed in after him.

“What are you doing in here?” Gao Ze asked.

“Aren't you here to find evidence of that shop owner's crime?”

Li Qingshu was eager, her eyes like a small rabbit's, full of curiosity and interest, completely devoid of her previous coldness and aloofness: “I've never seen you Police officers search for evidence before. I want to see too!”

“That guy dismembered his wife. Are you sure you want to see the body parts?”

“Ah—”
