17: Intelligence follow-up impact

The two-bedroom apartment Gao Ze rented had only two bedrooms.

One was for his younger brother, Gao Sheng, and the other for Gao Ze.

If his younger sister, Gao Xiaohui, came home to stay, he would tidy up his room for her and sleep on the sofa in the living room.

At this moment, inside the bedroom, Gao Sheng faced Gao Ze's interrogation, forcing a nervous smile:

"Brother, how could I join a gray-market company?"

"Your brother is a Police officer; would I tell you something without being sure?"

Gao Ze slapped Gao Sheng on the head, but he didn't use much force.

He sat down opposite him, straddling the chair, and said, "You know I hate lying the most, are you still going to hide it from me?"

"Brother, I was wrong."

Seeing Gao Ze's serious expression, Gao Sheng no longer resisted.

Trembling, he confessed everything about joining the gray-market company.

According to Gao Sheng, he joined a company that sold game script hacks through a classmate's introduction.

He was responsible for handling legal disputes and had been working for three or four days.

He had also received an advance of half a month's salary from the company, amounting to five or six thousand yuan.

Gao Ze guessed that the 4,800 yuan meal cost at Kaiseki Japanese Restaurant came from Gao Sheng's advanced salary.

"I told you to study hard, was it so you could join a game company to be a legal consultant?"

Gao Ze wasn't truly that angry, but to make his brother, Gao Sheng, understand the seriousness of the situation, he feigned extreme fury and shouted:

"Do you know that you're lucky this game company didn't involve illegal activities, otherwise your life would have been ruined!"

"Brother, hit me!"

Gao Sheng stood honestly in the corner, head bowed, his eyes bloodshot.

"Hit you?"

"What's the use of hitting you?"

Gao Ze pointed to his own chest, releasing some genuine emotion, his voice low and sorrowful:

"I only hate myself!

I forced a 985 law prodigy like you to go to a hack script company to make money, just to ease my burden, just so I could get married."

"Gao Sheng, tell me, am I a qualified older brother?"

"Huh?"

The low, questioning murmur struck Gao Sheng's heart heavily.

Meeting Gao Ze's fervent gaze, Gao Sheng's psychological defenses immediately crumbled.

"Brother, don't say anymore, I'm sorry."

Gao Sheng suddenly knelt, hugging Gao Ze's knees, crying like a child who had made a mistake: "I was wrong, I really know I was wrong, I will never go again!"

Gao Ze took a deep breath, suppressing the true emotions surging within him.

If he hadn't had the intelligence system, he would probably be very remorseful.

"Brother, don't worry, I will absolutely never go to that company again."

Gao Sheng looked up and saw that Gao Ze had no reaction, becoming even more panicked.

He raised his hand to slap himself in the face.

Fortunately, Gao Ze was sharp-eyed and stopped him in time, saying with slight anger: "Are you an idiot? Why are you so reckless?"

"Did I say I didn't forgive you?"

"Brother, I knew you would forgive me."

Gao Sheng smiled through his tears.

"Get up!"

Gao Ze felt that his brother truly had the wild and crazy temperament of a character from that TV show, and said:

"Remember, leave that script company immediately today, and return the advanced money to your finance department or the classmate who introduced you to the company."

A company like a game script hack company falls under economic disputes, and its nature is difficult to define.

Fortunately, Gao Sheng had only worked for a few days, so it wasn't a big deal.

It was very easy to handle at this stage; he just needed to cut ties directly.

Gao Sheng nodded in agreement, and Gao Ze slipped a bank card into his hand:

"There's 50,000 yuan in the card, take it and use it.

Ask me for more if it's not enough."

His younger brother, Gao Sheng, was a male and was in the stage of graduating and looking for a job, so he needed more money than Gao Xiaohui.

Thus, Gao Ze gave him a bit more.

"Brother, where did you get so much money?"

To the same question, Gao Ze explained it again.

Like his sister, Gao Xiaohui, his brother, Gao Sheng, was equally overjoyed and genuinely happy.

"Brother, your intuition for cases is so sharp!

You caught a wanted criminal and found a rich man's son; no wonder you discovered that I joined a game script company!"

Gao Sheng clearly misunderstood, but Gao Ze did not reveal that the intelligence came from the system.

He said, "You should have an illness; is it appendicitis?"

"Brother, you even found out I had appendicitis! How did you discover it?"

Gao Sheng was dumbfounded, unable to hide his shock.

He had been to the hospital for a check-up, but he hadn't told anyone about his appendicitis, not even taking medicine, just enduring the pain.

Logically speaking, his older brother shouldn't have been able to find out.

"Don't ask so many questions.

I'm a Police officer, isn't it easy to find out about your little matters?"

"Although appendicitis isn't a major illness, it's quite painful.

I'll give you 50,000 yuan; go to the hospital and get it cured as soon as possible, don't delay your health, and then find a good law firm to work for."

"I hope that in the future, you'll be a golden lawyer with an annual salary of tens of millions, owning several law firms or companies."

His younger brother, Gao Sheng, was able to get into a 985 university and pass the bar exam, indicating strong abilities and obedience.

Gao Ze intended to cultivate him.

Moreover, as a non-system member, any profits Gao Ze gained from the system's intelligence would be suitable for Gao Sheng to manage publicly.

"Okay, big brother, I will definitely work hard to become a great lawyer and also open several companies, letting you be the chairman, so you don't have to suffer the frustrations of being within the system."

Gao Sheng's sallow face brightened with a cheerful smile, and he then asked, "Brother, how are things going with you and Sister Ting?"

"We broke up.

I've found you a new sister-in-law."

"Broke up? That's good!"

"My brother is so good, Liu Yating had no taste, but who is the new sister-in-law?"

.....

Gao Sheng was very gossipy and curious, but Gao Ze didn't explain at all, returning to his own room.

Although he and Li Qingyan were married, he naturally wouldn't easily assume they had a definitive outcome.

This was just a contractual marriage, and besides, Li Qingyan made him feel that she wasn't so simple.

She was gentle, obedient, charming, cute, and sweet with him, but she seemed to be hiding a lot.

"Let's see if there's any butterfly effect of mine in today's Donghai City news."

Li Qingyan subtly seemed strange, but unable to figure it out, Gao Ze simply didn't dwell on it.

He opened his computer and started watching today's Donghai City news.

Watching Donghai City news and national news was his daily habit; many people within the system also had similar habits.

Today, Gao Ze was even more eager to see if there would be any trace of him in the news.

Sure enough.

After the Donghai City news had been broadcasting for more than ten minutes.

A news item that Gao Ze was very familiar with appeared.

"Today, the Market Supervision Bureau received a call from a concerned citizen, Mr. Gao.

The Donghai Japanese Restaurant was using seafood contaminated with nuclear radiation.

After inspection by the Supervision Bureau, it was found that the restaurant indeed used illegal seafood."

"The Donghai Japanese Restaurant announced its closure for rectification, and the relevant chefs and persons in charge have been taken away by the Police."

...

"We would like to thank Mr. Gao Ze, who wishes to remain anonymous, for his concerned call, which prevented more customers from consuming illegal seafood and experiencing discomfort..."

On the TV news, two Supervision Bureau staff members in blue uniforms faced the screen and spoke to the interviewing reporter.
