55: The suspect in the case appeared
“Who are the five deceased individuals?”
“Why was only the elderly woman with Alzheimer’s disease alive? Did Team Leader Liu find anything?”
Gao Ze glanced at the middle-aged male corpse in the living room and sighed, confirming that as the system intelligence indicated, only the elderly woman with Alzheimer’s disease survived this murder case in Huangpu District.
“In this family annihilation case, five people were killed.
They are Feng Changlin, the eldest son of the elderly woman Ye Qian, Feng Xue, the second daughter, Feng Jiansen, Feng Changlin’s son, Feng Yushuang, his daughter, and Liu Ping, his wife.”
Liu Wenzhong, the Team Leader of the Huangpu District Criminal Investigation Brigade, pointed at the middle-aged male corpse in the living room and said:
“This middle-aged male corpse is indeed the elderly woman’s eldest son, Feng Changlin!”
“When we received the alarm call and rushed into the villa, we found the television inside was on, playing at a very high volume.”
Upon hearing this, Gao Ze walked to the edge of Feng Changlin’s corpse and observed it carefully.
Feng Changlin’s body had multiple stab wounds on his neck, arms, thighs, and chest.
However, there was only one fatal wound: a sharp incision two to three centimeters deep on his neck, which caused excessive blood loss and death due to a severed carotid artery.
“Team Leader Liu, could you give me a pair of latex gloves?”
If he wanted to conduct an autopsy, he certainly couldn’t do it directly, as it would contaminate the body’s traces, leading to the destruction of clues or interference with the autopsy results.
“Brother Gao, do you also know forensic autopsy?”
Liu Wenzhong was surprised, stunned for two or three seconds, before handing the medical latex gloves to Gao Ze.
“Just a little bit!”
Gao Ze smiled, put on the medical latex gloves, then reached out to open the pupils of the deceased Feng Changlin, observing the degree of pupil opacity and turbidity, pressing the deceased’s biceps to test muscle elasticity, and flipping the body to observe the lividity on the back.
“Team Leader Liu, you can continue to talk about your Criminal Investigation Brigade’s findings.”
“Brother Gao, a great reputation is never unfounded!”
Liu Wenzhong couldn’t help but exclaim.
Forensic medicine is an extremely specialized science, requiring a deep understanding and mastery of various disciplines such as law, medicine, biology, and clinical examination, as well as rich skills in on-site investigation.
Even an old criminal investigator like him, who had been in the Police force for more than ten years, couldn’t handle autopsies and had to rely on professional forensic doctors or send the body to the Forensic Appraisal Center.
Gao Ze’s autopsy movements were skilled and smooth, almost identical to those of the old forensic doctors he had seen before, indicating that he had absolutely mastered the technique of forensic medicine.
No wonder a cold case like Mu Yu Rou’s could be unearthed and solved by Gao Ze!
“Besides the deceased Feng Changlin, his wife Liu Ping died in the master bedroom on the first floor, and the fatal wound should be that stab to the heart!”
“Feng Changlin’s son, Feng Jiansen, about ten years old, died on the second floor, with a fatal wound to the neck. When we opened the door, a game was playing on the computer!”
Liu Wenzhong continued: “Feng Changlin’s daughter, Feng Yushuang, should be fifteen or sixteen years old, with a fatal wound to the chest, likely also the heart. Feng Yushuang was killed in bed!”
“As for Feng Changlin’s younger sister, Feng Xue, she died on the third floor of the villa, and the fatal wound was to the heart.”
Listening to Liu Wenzhong’s account.
A question arose in Gao Ze’s mind, and he asked directly, “When Feng Changlin and the other five people were successively killed, not in the same place in the villa, did they not hear any commotion?”
“Why did no one notice anything unusual?”
“This point is indeed worth suspecting!”
Liu Wenzhong nodded and said, “However, it’s also possible that these five people had a cold relationship, each minding their own business, not caring about others.”
“There are many such rigid and tense family relationships nowadays, especially with Feng Changlin watching TV in the living room and his son Feng Jiansen playing games, each busy with their own things.”
“This way of thinking also makes sense!”
Gao Ze nodded slightly, affirming while his autopsy movements remained swift.
“However, the possibility of an acquaintance committing the crime cannot be ruled out!”
“After all, even killing a cat or a dog would involve a struggle. It’s impossible for a murderer to kill five people in one go without any disturbance if it were a stranger.”
“Besides this family, and the elderly woman with Alzheimer’s disease, are there any other members in this household?”
“Yes!”
Liu Wenzhong nodded and said, “There’s a middle-aged female nanny in this family. The alarm call we, the Huangpu District Police, received was from her, almost at the same time your brother discovered the bodies.”
“Additionally, based on several photos and the family household register we found in the victims’ rooms.”
“The victim Feng Changlin should also have an older sister!”
Liu Wenzhong placed a photo in front of Gao Ze, allowing him to clearly see that it was a family photo.
There were seven people in the photo, with the elderly woman Ye Qian, who had Alzheimer’s disease, standing in the center.
Standing around the victim Feng Changlin were two women of similar age, and Liu Wenzhong pointed them out:
“The woman on the left is the victim Feng Changlin’s younger sister, Feng Xue, and the woman on the right wearing a woolen coat is named Feng Yu, Feng Changlin’s older sister, forty-five years old this year, and she did not appear among the victims inside the villa.”
“Where was the photo found?”
Gao Ze stared at the middle-aged woman Feng Yu for a couple more glances. It wasn't that this middle-aged woman possessed captivating charm, but rather that in the photo, her expression was cold, without any smile, seeming out of place with all the other family members.
Liu Wenzhong said, “On the display wall on the second floor!”
“Were there any other clues found inside the villa?” Gao Ze continued to ask.
“Yes, there were extensive signs of rummaging in the cabinets of many rooms on the first, second, and third floors, and cash was missing from the wallets of the three victims, Feng Changlin, Feng Xue, and Liu Ping. The safe on the third floor was also subjected to forced prying, but it wasn’t successfully opened.”
Liu Wenzhong said, “We haven’t been here for long, so these are the clues we’ve found so far.”
For some reason,
listening to the conversation between Team Leader Liu Wenzhong and Gao Ze, several detectives in the living room felt as if Gao Ze was a higher-ranking leader, and Team Leader Liu Wenzhong was his subordinate.
But they didn’t feel it was too outrageous in their hearts.
Why was this?
Was it because of the professional demeanor Gao Ze displayed during the autopsy?
Or the storm-level influence of the Mu Yu Rou case?
Or both, but undoubtedly the latter weighed more heavily!
“I understand.”
Gao Ze slowly took off his medical latex gloves and said, “I also have the results of the autopsy on the victim Feng Changlin.”
“What did you find?”
Liu Wenzhong’s eyes lit up with joy, revealing a smile: “Did you find any important clues?”
“Yes!”
